Craighead Care Home in Newport-on-Tay offers to residents a home from home with a true sense of family. Residents can enjoy the beautiful views of the River Tay and the city of Dundee.

My mother had been a resident at Craighead Nursing Home, Newport since October 2023. During her time there the level of care and support she received has been fantastic. All of the staff have been empathic, compassionate and trustworthy. The relationships that they built with Mum, and with myself & my sister was exceptional. The home is spotlessly clean and is a welcoming place for all visitors. The decision to have a loved one admitted to a home is never easy but the way in which the staff have conducted themselves made the last couple of years for Mum so much easier.

My name is Abhinav, and I am the Caring for Smiles Champion. In this role, I promote positive oral health and ensure that every resident receives person-centered mouth care that protects dignity, prevents pain, and supports overall wellbeing. I help staff follow best practice in line with Caring for Smiles (Scotland), support residents and families with their oral health needs, and provide guidance to colleagues on effective mouth and denture care. I also liaise with dentists and community dental teams to ensure timely care, monitor oral health records, and report any concerns promptly. My goal is to champion a culture where good oral health is recognised as an essential part of holistic, person-centered care.

My name is Nemika, and I am the Promoting Hydration Champion. My role is to ensure that all residents remain well hydrated, reducing the risks linked to dehydration and supporting overall health and wellbeing. I monitor and record fluid intake, identify residents at risk, and encourage regular drinking throughout the day. I work closely with staff to make sure hydration is part of everyone’s daily routine and that drinks are always accessible, appealing, and offered with kindness and encouragement. I also liaise with nurses, kitchen staff, and other professionals to ensure hydration needs are met and concerns are promptly addressed. Through training, awareness, and regular audits, I promote a positive, hydration-friendly environment where residents feel supported to drink enough and stay healthy.
