Overall Experience

My husband has been a resident for over seven years and in that time there has been a rollercoaster of the level of care. However, the present management team have transformed the home and I cannot speak highly enough about it now. A care home is like a pyramid and with the right team at the top it can achieve amazing results. You can see and feel the difference in the environment and this is reflected in the happy supportive staff. The residents are always treated as individuals and their former lives are celebrated by requests for items to display that reflect their former career. A selection of his paintings were requested for display in the corridors, such an extremely touching gesture of compassion and respect. The daily activities are fun and interesting. I was privileged to be asked to jointly chair the residents' relatives meetings and so good to hear positive comments from all present. I would certainly recommend Craighead and I salute the caring staff team.

My husband has now been a resident at Craighead Care Home for 6 months and I know that he is in good hands. Looked after 24 hours a day, with every wish catered for by management and staff who are extremely friendly and obliging and nothing is too much bother in this lovely 'care' home.

Knowing that there is professional help close to hand at all times to help my husband if needed is a great relief to me as I used to have to deal with falls and confusion, mainly at night.

Almost from the first day of my husband's residency, I found most of the staff very approachable and able to answer my queries.

My first impressions have been absolutely superb. I can't thank the staff enough for all the wonderful care they give my mother-in-law in room 21. She has settled in so well. She has a completely different approach to her happiness. She seems such a different person, keeping busy, walking and meeting new friends. It's so lovely to see her flourish. I honestly am in awe of all your amazing staff. They are all wonderful beings.

When we were viewing homes for my mum (dementia), the manager (don’t think I’m allowed to give names) was just simply incredible and made the whole process and situation a whole lot easier. When the time came for my mum to go into Craighead, the staff can only be described as outstanding. Not only with my mum but also with my dad, who was struggling with the whole ordeal. We have already seen a huge improvement with my mum in terms of hygiene, eating and energy levels. The cleanliness of the home itself is fantastic, and the room is bright and spacious. If you go onto their Facebook page, you can see the amount of activities that are always on. Once again, can I please thank the staff from the whole family for making this time so much bearable and being so fantastic.

My Mother was a resident for about 6 years before passing. She was an unusual case in that she had input/output Aphasia and in an environment of high turnover of staff and management, her care was not the best but under the circumstances, I guess it was about satisfactory.

He was very settled at Craighead Care Home and absolutely loved the view. He enjoyed having a chat when staff had the time to and he liked having a joke with them. Some of the staff took time to get to know him and us as well. He was able to keep some bits of his independence for as long as possible which was very beneficial for him.

Review from Ann C (Daughter of Resident) published on 17 August 2022 Submitted via Website

My dad has received excellent care and support since his arrival in Craighead Care Home in October 2021 and continues to benefit from being there. He has vascular dementia and the staff encourage him to be independent and motivate him to get involved in social activities. The range and frequency of activities and events have significantly increased. It is nice of the home to share these activities on their Facebook page and see all the fun and residents' happy faces. My dad is happy there and although he knows he won’t be going ‘home’ he has been made to feel so welcome at Craighead that the staff are like family to him. They also help reassure him when he gets anxious.

It is always a pleasure to visit him and the staff go above and beyond to help support his health needs and other interests and keep me well informed. I can’t thank you all enough.

My mother has been a resident of Craighead Care Home since January this year and I have been very impressed by the friendly approach of the care team and the continuity of staff which is really important for both the residents and the families.
As a family we have all been made to feel very welcome and part of the community and we very much appreciate the 'open door' approach to visiting.

Mum seems to have settled and we are always promptly informed of any medical concerns. I can definitely recommend Craighead to other families.

Review from Hilary D (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 5 May 2022 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My father-in-law was a resident of Craighead Care Home after a period of illness which resulted in his admission to hospital.
He also contracted Covid in hospital and, as a result, was very frail and confused when he left. The standard of care he received from the staff at Craighead has been exceptional. From the second he entered the home, all staff did what they could to welcome him and make him feel comfortable.
I would say that they went above and beyond and encouraged him to undertake activities that he would never have wanted to do before.
Because of the very high standard of care he has received, he has gained weight and mobility and has been able to return home to his wife. This was not an option the family even considered possible four weeks ago.

I cannot praise the management and staff at Craighead enough and sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of my father-in-law.

During the time of lockdown and before, the standard of care and support has been extremely high. Information on activities and care has been relayed by both email and phone, all very supportive.
Opportunities when regulations allowed to meet residents were available if required.

I am delighted with the diligence of all staff during those very difficult times.

I have no hesitation in stating that my and our family expectations of my mother's care provision were exceeded. During her 3 1/2 year stay she was treated with dignity at all times and the level of care shown by all staff were professional and compassionate. This was also true of the way your staff looked after my father who visited every day. Sincere thanks to all who really did look after and care about my mother

Last year at this time I would have rated Craighead at 0. However, since the new management team have taken over, life at Craighead has improved so much so, that I have another family member there. The activities organiser is absolutely wonderful. I know Craighead had a bad reputation. I say to potential families and residents "come and see for yourself and don't listen to rumours". I would rate Craighead as 4 stars.
