For the last 20 years Leys Park has been dedicated to the care of older people. Set in large grounds, Leys Park has an enclosed garden with an area specifically designed for the home by the Prince’s Trust.

Once the Northern Hospital in Dunfermline, the 64 bedded home has a unit specialising in dementia care and a separate unit focusing on the care of frail older people. A refurbishment and re-decoration programme has provided a cosy and comfortable home and the latest facilities and equipment ensure the health and safety of residents with limited mobility.

Activity co-ordinators run a varied programme of hobbies and events at the home, including quizzes, regular bingo sessions and arts and crafts. Residents can also enjoy trips out to local attractions and to the nearby Fife coast. Particularly popular are afternoon teas and coffee mornings.

Once a month Leys Park hold a residents’ meeting to listen to peoples’ views and to let everyone know what the home has planned for the following few weeks.

I had to take Mum out immediately due to serious concerns about care she was receiving after family spent two days with Mum when she took ill. Unfortunately Mum passed away at my home two weeks later. Hospital at home explained to us she had recently suffered some form of attack to her heart. Concerns
were given to the owners of the care home, St Philips, and investigation took place. I have a letter from them with the results of their investigation which has confirmed a couple of nurses in the care home were not confident in using new system that was in place which held residents' medical details. As a result, those nurses would possibly not know everyone’s full medical needs. Letter also confirmed other details we had concerns with. Care commission recently done inspection, put change request in place for home and date for completion. None of these were met and date extended. Please check care commission reports. No apology given to family. Disgraceful.

My dad was in Ley's Park (dementia) for a few years and always received first-class care and attention. They always kept in contact and the carers and nurses were lovely. My dad was pretty difficult to deal with (very independent, and often aggressive) but the carers tapped into his character and developed
a great relationship with him. I cannot express my thanks enough.

My husband has been in respite twice in the last 2 years, both times in Leys Park. The first time he was in for 2 weeks and at that time, the building needed a lot of work done on it. But that wasn't important to me. The main thing was the care of my husband. And for that, I simply cannot praise them
enough. From carers to nurses, each was fantastic. Patient, attentive to each resident's needs and their family/friends. Always had time to answer my questions and made me feel welcome each time I visited. I have never met the manager but my social worker thinks a lot of her and that is good enough for me. The second time my husband was in, just 4 weeks ago, his Dementia had become much worse. He was rude and accused the carers of all sorts. But none of it was true and I can only admire how they all coped with him. It is the only home I will be happy to place my husband in when the time comes. As I know we will both be looked after. And so will our wee dog who loves them all. A really lovely nursing home.

We were made aware my mum could no longer live at home and had to find a care home for Mum within a few days. We didn’t have any choice as we were in the middle of lockdown. I was very nervous as we knew nothing regarding Leys Park and she was admitted on a six week trial period. The staff were amazing
with Mum and she settled very quickly. She has a great connection with most of the staff and I’m sure she will be quite demanding. After the six week period we didn’t even consider moving Mum as she is happy and has never requested to go home. The staff have a great connection with the residents and always go above and beyond, we could not thank them enough. Even when my dad passed away the support she got from staff reassured us all. I would highly recommend this care facility to family and friends.

The staff are doing a great job of looking after our mum. The staff have shown true care/commitment to their residents, especially during the last few months (Covid). Friendly atmosphere when you walk into Leys Park. Lots of activities arranged for residents as well as guest singers and musicians. It's
an old building but updating and improvements are ongoing. What has been updated looks fabulous. Have had a couple of issues, however, these were dealt with appropriately by management. Well done and thank you, Leys Park.

The building is quite old but is being renovated. We have been very impressed by the staff and management who really seem to care about the residents. Things have been difficult recently with visits not being possible because of Covid-19 lockdown. We have been able to use phone calls and video calls,
which has helped.

Overall, we are very happy with the care our parent receives. The building is dated, but renovation works are ongoing, and we have been kept updated on progress. We have had a few isolated complaints, but these have been dealt with swiftly and satisfactory.

It is a very good and caring home, the only downfall is it's a very old building and needs a lot of renovation, but that is getting done gradually. Everything seems fine and all the staff do their best to make my mum and myself very welcome.

My father lived with the staff at Leys Park for three-plus years, and they were absolutely fantastic - throughout his life with them and at the time of his passing. He was happy and his old sense of humour emerged under the love and fun-full care they gave him. And they were so caring towards and considerate
of my mother and myself. I am so pleased we found Leys Park in our moment of need.

Staff are friendly and approachable. My mum is a 79 year old schizophrenic so can be difficult. I am very surprised about how much it all costs, very expensive.

The home will be much better when the refurbishment is complete, although there already looks as if maintenance is required. The staff are lovely but seem overworked and not enough of them. Dad seems settled though and that's the main thing.
