Methven House is an excellent Care Home. Staff go above and beyond for the residents' care, and the residents are treated with dignity and respect, warmth, and understanding. The staff engage with the residents, it's comforting to know that staff are always seen and present if assistance is needed. Staff listen to the residents and help whenever possible. My friend is seen, heard, acknowledged, and included. When I visit, it feels like my friend's home, and I know she feels the same because she tells me that. I know she is safe, secure, comfortable and well looked after, knowing this gives me tremendous peace of mind.

My wife was initially very unhappy due to no longer being able to live at home with me. As her condition has become progressively worse she has realised that she is in the best place, and has come to love it.

The rooms are lovely and spacious but that's where the positives stop. My mother was left most days sitting in her room. Found her in the corridor distressed and upset with no staff around on numerous occasions. Food awful and they had care staff having to cook in the kitchen as no chef.My mum lost loads of weight. No activities or regular exercise and certainly no meaningful personalised care. My mother had 3 urine infections that were not picked up by the home. My mother and 2 other residents on the same floor have all been moved by their families to other care homes. The difference in the care home she is now in is like night and day. She has put weight on and there are meaningful activities daily.

I would 'what' to say about the care home. To start, I would like to say - the staff are very helpful and if I need anybody to talk to, they are there to help me. My husband now lives there. I am very happy with the care they give him 24/7, and what else I like is that it is very clean, and every time I visit my husband, I am made to feel very welcome. I am glad that I got my husband into their care home.

Reply from Clare Cogan Turner, Communications at Methven House

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We're really pleased to hear that you feel supported by the team and confident in the care your husband receives. Knowing that you feel welcome each time you visit, and that the home feels clean and reassuring, means a great deal to us. Thank you for trusting Methven House with your husband's care.

My dad has been in Methven House for 6 weeks now, and he is thriving. The staff are excellent so caring, kind and friendly as are the management. As a family, we were worried as my dad does not mix well; however, since being here, he engages with other residents and is happy to be involved in a range of activities. When a family member goes into care, there is always a concern regarding how they will be looked after. Our family has no worries whatsoever. Our dad is in very kind, caring and safe hands in Methven House.

Our family are spread far and wide and it's difficult for us to visit mum regularly. Knowing that she has such individualised care and such lovely people around her is so special.
Recently staff have gone above and beyond to help our mum through a very difficult time, the loss of her young sister.

It means the world to know our mum is surrounded by so much care attention and activity at Methven House.

The manager and staff have provided excellent care in meeting not only the needs but mental well-being of the resident. The attention to detail and knowing the resident has benefitted him in many ways. To allow the resident to feel as though he is at home in a care setting helps with comfort and reassurance, while listening to the resident and him being valued. To visitors all staff have been brilliant.

I feel my mum is well-treated and well looked after. The home is regularly in contact with me with updates or issues. I really enjoy following the home on social media as I see pictures and videos of my mum taking part in games, fun, etc. I live 2 hours away, and this makes it easier for me to keep an eye on mum. The staff are friendly and helpful, and any issues I have are quickly resolved.

Would not recommend this nursing home. Lacked basic care and hard to find staff. Lots of very disabled residents unattended in hallways. Hygiene not great. Communal laundry awful with other people's clothing being worn despite labelling. Activities programme very poor. Took ages to get in and out as staff not responsive when you required secure exit/entry. Only plus was large rooms.

All staff are pleasant and understand my mums needs. Cleanliness has improved by 100% since new management has taken over. Activities have improved a great deal. To be truthfully honest I don't have any concerns with regards to my mums care as they are now being fully met.

My mother moved into Methven House over a month ago and has really settled in well. The staff have been so kind and helpful even before we moved my mother into the home. I was my mothers main carer before she moved into the care home so it has been wonderful not to worry about all the day to day worries of my mother cleaning herself, eating and drinking regularly and taking her meds. The staff have taken the time to get to know my mother needs and have met them all. Thank you so much

We were apprensive about Dad going into a care home but from the very first visit our fears dissappeared and its been a month since our Dad went into Methven House and the difference in him is astounding! Since we lost my mother he had become very withdrawn and disheartened. But from the very first day the staff and management have been so welcoming and made him feel right at home. They took the time to get to know him, his likes and dislikes and talk to him like they have known him for ever. On a recent visit he was sitting with friends singing and laughing and looked like a different man. We are very happy with Methven house, it's cosy and warm with lots of activities to keep Dad busy.

Overall most staff are friendly and helpful. They appear caring towards our dad. Of late, we are not sure if there is an entertainment person organising activities etc and outings in the minibus. We feel that social interaction is very important, especially for people with the onset of dementia. On the whole, the room is clean but there have been times when it hasn't, especially the floor.
