Overall Experience

The staff are dedicated to the wellbeing of the residents and take the time to engage in conversation with family members or visitors visiting their relatives. It is comforting to see the residents enjoying activities that keeps them physically and mentally active. The daily dispensing of the correct medicine and the dedication to residents hygiene is also very good. The meals are varied in quality and generally good, any complaints are well received and addressed. I believe my mother is thriving with the care she receives and the environment she is in. Staff go above and beyond to care for the residents.

The home does its best with the staff they have and they provide an excellent range of activities to keep residents occupied. However, my one main concern is when my granny buzz’s for the toilet she can often (not on just the odd occasion) wait over an hour to be seen which is not acceptable. My granny now dreads buzzing as she feels like she’s being an inconvenience.

My granny is always complaining that the majority of lunch and evening meals are of poor quality but does comment that the breakfast is good and the fish on a Friday is excellent.

Have found the staff to be friendly, efficient and willing to answer any queries regarding the care and upkeep of the residents. The facilities are clean and well maintained. They endeavour to have activities on a regular basis to keep the residents occupied and engaged.

Overall all I am happy with the care my husband has received during his time in Jesmond Care Home, especially due to his young age. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, I feel that the staff and in particular the activities co-ordinators have gone above and beyond their role to ensure all residents have had plenty of activities to do no matter their ability they have got them all involved. There have been a number of new ideas introduced and we have been kept up to date with everything that has been going on. This is so important when we cannot get in to visit our family members. The whole team from the top have been excellent.

My mum has been here for 2 years and I can't thank the staff and carers enough. They do a great job and there are always activities going on every day. This has given me peace of mind knowing she is being very well cared for.

My mum is well cared for by all carers and the rest of the staff at Jesmond Care Home. My mum and myself are finding these Covid-19 restrictions very hard at the moment for the fact we cant really communicate, my mum finds it easier for me to be with her to sign language as she is deaf-mute. I cant thank staff enough for helping out with the FaceTimes and the window visits I get. I am getting good communication by the carers which is very helpful, and they are caring towards my mum.

Many thanks.

I’m delighted with the service that is provided to my mum, she went into Jesmond on 4th November 2018 and it didn’t take her long to settle in, she refers to the staff as her friends. Obviously, the pandemic has played a big part on her mental health as it has with all the residents but the staff do all in their power to lift their spirits. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for their commitment and hard work throughout this difficult time in everyone’s lives.

Mum went in to Jesmond Care Home just before lockdown last February. During a very hard year for us all, the staff in the home have kept us informed of Mum's wellbeing and activities, by phone calls, FaceTime, Facebook and photos as much as is possible. The staff have been fantastic and we couldn't ask for more under the circumstances. Mum is very well cared for and loved and I would definitely recommend Jesmond Care Home to anyone without hesitation.

My princess is extremely well looked after. Clean, well-fed and is well cared for which relieves my mind. I couldn't ask for better.

Medication is given correctly and if there is a medical condition a doctor is rapidly called.

My mum is well cared for. She has been quite low during the Covid experience. The carers are all good and try and get her to feel better.

They are very professional and treat all the residents well. Food is good.

My father entered Jesmond Care Home last July where he has been well looked after by the whole team. Any issues have been few and have been easily fixed. I have found the staff welcoming and respectful of my father, treating him with the right balance of fun and good care. Since the COVID-19 lockdown it has been difficult not visiting, however, my phone calls have been answered with patience and reassurance.

The lift was not working for several months. Only when other lift broke then they were repaired. My Mum could not go to her own room and slept elsewhere. Mum was sick outside in the garden - told staff but it was still there for four days. No buzzer in her room for at least a month. Light in the bathroom. Not enough relative meetings. No smoking area with a shelter from the weather. Her personal wheelchair was being used by others.

Our mother entered Jesmond Care Home in December 2019, and from the very start, we as a concerned and upset family have been so impressed with the transition from emergency entrance to the care system to a more settled one.
My mum has dementia and we worried about how the transition would go, there were lots of sleepless nights from my siblings and dad. We need not have worried, all the staff have been fantastic. We hear a lot of negativity surrounding the elderly care system which heightened our worries. Every one of our concerns was listened to and allayed. This was all done in a calm and respectful manner.
There is not one member of staff I would have a concern with, humorous, caring and empathetic resulting in a settled house because that's how it feels now just like home.

Well done to all and thank you very much for a fantastic team.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Jesmond. Even when my dad and I were visiting homes to place my mum into, we were very impressed and we were overjoyed that my mum was able to live there. Every single member of staff does everything possible to make sure the residents are looked after, feel safe and are happy. It was the hardest thing in the world to place my mum into a nursing home, but I feel that she is in the best possible place.
