Since lockdown my sister has been chairbound, having spoken to management, she is supposed to have a table in front of her with a sweetie or a snack and a drink. On most occasions, this has not happened and her drink is beside her TV, which she cannot possibly get to. At one point, she had no hand buzzer but was supposed to use a floor-operated buzzer which she cannot operate.

Reply from Pauline Gerrie, Manager at Crimond House

Management met with the family when issues were raised, and reassurance was given that we will rectify these issues and continue to provide high standards of care. Crimond will continue to make sure that clients' needs are met.

My husband has been in Crimond House Care Home for just over a year and I must say he has been cared for by a friendly, helpful and professional team at all times. Even during the hard times of the Covid pandemic, they went out of their way to make life bearable for my husband and myself.

With a requirement for full-time care, I have seen my husband respond to the friendly environment and return to the mn I have known for sixty-four-plus years. Thank you to all the staff who are assisting us in this stage of our life.

I found it very difficult during Covid to visit Mum but now we've been allowed in things have been fine.

Mum's always clean, well-fed, though she lacks interaction with other residents, her choice, but I wonder if she could be persuaded to go through to the dining room for meals even just once a day.

Everyone at Crimond House has helped keep my uncle safer and well, for this, I am very grateful. Over the last 12-months, it has been very difficult for my uncle to stay in his room with no visitors, and although I see reasons why, I feel the impact on his and everyone else's mental health has been very concerning.

The facilities, ambience and staff are all very good. I think dad has calmed down latterly but I can only praise Crimond House and staff very highly as I know how my dad can be quite a handful!

My son has only been here for six weeks but they (staff) have quickly known his needs, likes and dislikes which is reassuring to know because of his lack of vocabulary and communication skills. Encouraged to phone and enquire how his day has been if haven't visited. Staff are welcoming and nothing seems too much trouble and if I've queried anything, it's been dealt with promptly. Can't comment on facilities, activities or food and drink because my son is peg fed and so has limited meals but the ones I have seen look lovely.

After being the sole carer for my spouse for 19 months, I was very relieved for him to be given a room in Crimond House Care Home.
The staff have been very sympathetic and extremely helpful. Not only the care staff but also the domestic staff and with special thanks to the handyman. Nothing is too much (or too little) trouble.

The rooms are always clean and tidy, laundry is promptly dealt with and returned in good fashion. The food is good. The staff are friendly. It all made it easy for my husband to settle in and for me to feel comfortable with the situation.

Inconsistent care. Okay for spells but unfortunately experienced unacceptable lapses in care. This takes its toll on the resident and family.

In my opinion not enough staff. Definitely do not recommend as same problems kept cropping up.

Reply from Louise Marshall, Aberdeenshire Area Manager at Crimond House
We have reflected on this complaint and have worked hard to restore confidence in the service provided at Crimond House. This has resulted in a positive Care Inspectorate inspection very recently, and a grade increase.

Whilst we are disappointed that we could not meet the expectations of this...

Mum is receiving a good high standard of care from the staff, all the staff from domestic cleaners to activities and maintenance. A good variety of activities and live entertainer at least once per week.

I see that staff are called in for training days which is good not only for the staff but improves the care given to my mum.

Both my parents are in care. They are very happy and the staff are excellent. I live three hours away but I'm kept informed of any problems at all times. Very caring staff my parents are treated like family. If I have any questions or concerns they are dealt with right away. I would recommend this care facility.

I have been visiting my Uncle since October 2017 when he moved into Crimond House. I have found the staff very helpful, caring and pleasant. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I have had challenging times with his health and the staff have all been very supportive and done everything possible to help my Uncle. I honestly can't fault the staff and I am always made welcome.

Having viewed other care homes in Aberdeen/Aberdeenshire, we were immediately impressed with Crimond and very relieved that my parents were offered residency. Management and staff are very understanding and they ensured that the move for my parents was smooth and handled very professionally. Any issues we raise are handled quickly and we are also kept well informed of any medical or personal issues that require action. My Parents are very happy and feel well looked after at Crimond and that is very important.

As my mother is in care at Crimond House Care Home for 6 weeks emergency respite I feel that the staff and facilities are good.

The staff endeavour to help with any queries if you ask them, however, there is a procedure to go through if you require any special needs of care if you do not ask them they will not know.

I have found the care home pleasant and all the staff have been nice to my mother and try to keep her spirits up when there are times she is feeling down.

I find the facilities clean and tidy in circumstances which must be very hard to maintain at times however as mentioned the staff are always there to help if I ask.

Reply from Arlene Campbell, Manager at Crimond House

At Crimond House Care Home all clients have an assessment prior to admission to ensure we can meet the potential clients' needs. On admission, staff meet with the client and family to ensure further information is provided to staff to help formulate their plan of care. Clients and family members are continually involved in the care planning process.

Staff are moved about regularly so there is no continuity and they must spend most of their time reading care plans to update on residents care/medication etc...
I have been assured that issues would be put on mums file on the computer and later found out it was not done.

Although to be fair most of the staff are always pleasant towards us and caring with mum, but there is a severe lack of communication.

Reply from Arlene Campbell, Manager at Crimond House

We were extremely disappointed to receive this review, which we do not feel is typical of the overall care and attention our residents and relatives receive at Crimond House.
