Fidra House has 60 beautiful single bedrooms with spacious en-suite shower facilities, arranged over three floors. There are two lifts which access each of the three floors. The freshly decorated bedrooms have telephone and Internet access, a wall-mounted TV and a nurse call system, for prompt assistance.

Each floor has its own comfortable open plan lounge with wide screen TV, and dining area with a fully-fitted pantry. The communal lounge on the ground floor has doors that open out onto the grounds – always a popular place to sit with a cup of tea, or for gardening activities when weather permits.

Events and activities are hugely enjoyed at Fidra House and a dedicated team, full calendar and the availability of their own minibus ensures that the level of participation is high. There are excellent connections within the community.

A wonderful Chef and kitchen team offer nutritionally-balanced, freshly prepared meals. The menu changes on a four-weekly cycle and they try to accommodate different tastes and diets as far as possible. Residents choose where to eat. Some people like the privacy of their own room, whilst others enjoy eating together in the dining room, with its windows looking out onto the garden.

Hello there. Anybody visiting Fidra will know as soon as you go in through the front door, that the staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about how to deliver the care that is needed.
In spite of all the other health problems outside Fidra at the moment, they
are very careful, making sure that all the safety measures are happening before you are allowed in for the visit, and throughout the visit. Mum's room is nice and clean, and she has enough personal things there so that she can feel comfortable when she looks around too. All in all, this seems to be a nice, well-run place. Thanks.

My wife has been a resident for five years and I have to say I have been satisfied with her care and wellbeing.
The management and staff are efficient and caring and very approachable.
Furthermore, during the present Covid situation they have coped extremely well without any incidents.

From the minute you walk in, lovely friendly atmosphere at reception. Lovely clean smell kept to a high standard of cleanliness. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Have done an excellent job with regard to Covid with all the restrictions.

Home very clean and tidy and staff only too willing to help with any issues. Don't see the food served but from feedback, it seems it is good quality and nutritional. Lovely surroundings and garden well kept, all in all, I'm very happy with the care given.

At a very worrisome time, my siblings and I did not expect to feel so relaxed and extremely at ease with this step in our nana’s life. These first four weeks have been so reassuring the staff are all so kind and compassionate. The food is so good and at 93, my nana is now eating vegetables (She never
has done in her first 93 years). The rooms are always clean and fresh. Also, the care that goes into each resident looking so well looked after - hair lovely, well-dressed and cared for. Every visit, I leave with a smile, sometimes a heavy heart but I feel reassured Fidra House is her perfect place.

During my last visit, residents were being entertained trying to catch soap bubbles and bean bags were also being used to keep them active. Balloons were being bounced about in order for residents to catch them or knock them back to the lady working with them. The rooms have recently been upgraded.

My Aunt has been in Fidra since last year. She is 95 and although physically restricted has all her mental capacity. Before going to Fidra she lived on her own with support from visiting Carers but was obviously depressed. Fidra care and staff have brought her back to life again. Kind, understanding,
helpful staff.

Mum is very well looked after, the staff always make friends and family welcome, the care home is well run and looked after by the maintenance staff also meals are excellent and a good variety. I would not hesitate to recommend Fidra to anybody.

David

David Livingstone

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2023

Fidra House is managed by David Livingstone. David has worked in care homes for over 14 years, during this time he has progressed from a care assistant, and senior roles, to his current position as manager. He has completed his BA in Health and Social Care qualification.


David works closely with Deputy Manager Jill Paterson in leading the team of support staff, care workers and registered nurses. David is passionate about providing the highest standard of care and respect. Jo Comrie

Job Title: Care Quality Manager Joined: 2017

RGN qualified in 1994, Jo has worked in care homes since 1999 and now holds additional qualifications of a Pg Dip HSc in Advanced Nursing.


Jo returned to Randolph Hill in 2017, as Deputy Manager, after managing a nursing home in New Zealand for 8 years. Jo was promoted to manager in 2019, then Senior Manager in 2021 and is now Care Quality Manager.

Julie Tulloch

Julie Tulloch is our Care Standards Manager. She has been a registered nurse for almost 35 years and is also a registered community nurse and nurse prescriber. For the last 18 years she has worked as a nurse regulator in health and social care, and joined us from her most recent role as an inspector with the Care Inspectorate.


Like everyone at Randolph Hill, Julie’s drive and focus is to make sure that all of the people that we care for receive the best, high quality service that is right for them. Julie firmly believes that people should enjoy living their life to the full in a nursing home and that nursing homes should be at the heart of the community.


Outside of work Julie likes to be active and enjoys walking in our beautiful countryside, gardening and exercising especially dancing related exercise such as Zumba.

Nicole qualified in 2013 as a registered general nurse, since then she has worked in a variety of roles within social staff nurse through to manager, operations and quality roles.
