I am on a hay diet, and your catering staff managed this very well. Your food is good. As I had a ground floor room opening onto the garden, I was able to get outside and sit in the sunshine. All your staff here helpful and friendly.

My Mother has stayed in the carehome for over 2 years now. We are very happy with the care she recieves. The staff, accomodation and the activities are excellent. She enjoys her time there very much and prefers it to staying in her house which is only a short walk away.

Reply from Brodie Nichol, Director at Muirfield

Dad has been a resident for the last 18 months. He is well cared for and safe. With someone with dementia this is important for us as a family to know this. With his declining cognitive skills the staff are very caring and patient with him even though dad can be extremely challenging. The staff are always welcoming with a smile and greeting. The menus are varied and they will accommodate residents where possible if that meal on offer is not to their liking. The activities are based around residents preferences so might not suit everyone and they have a minibus to take residents on outings. These are offered frequently. Patient reviews take place and should anything occur they are in contact with the family.

Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at Muirfield

Thank you very much for your review and your high overall score. Our team will be delighted. It is so pleasing to hear that you feel your Dad is so well cared for and is safe. We know how important this is to our residents and their families. With our best wishes.

My father has vascular dementia and has been a resident in Muirfield Nursing home for four years now. The staff have always taken good care of him and are so kind and friendly. When he was recently a bit off colour, the staff took great care to keep the family informed about his health, and what progress he was making. They are always supportive of the family bond and are very approachable. Dad is now back to his normal self and doing well.

My mum moved into Muirfield a few months ago having previously lived alone in her home. It was a big decision, but I would like to thank all of the team at Muirfield for going above and beyond, to welcome my mum and us into the Muirfield family.

All members of staff, from the front desk, to the office and management, to the individual carers and activities team are so warm, welcoming and easy to deal with. My mum is being very well cared for which is very much appreciated, and this has allowed me to go back to being daughter rather than carer. Thank you!

Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at Muirfield

My husband has been in Muirfield for over 3 years now, and I can honestly say, that the care he receives from all members of staff is fantastic! The activities that are on offer for residents is brilliant, catering for everyone's needs. The staff are always so helpful, and not only to my husband, but to me as well. I feel I can talk to them at any point I am in, and they are always happy to listen. Nothing is a bother for them. Keep up the great work and thank you for all do for husband and our family!

My mother somewhat reluctantly agreed to go into Muirfield for a period of respite care while my sister was abroad.
In advance of my mother going into Muirfield I was invited to a tour of the premises and facilities available. I was impressed with what was on offer and also with the general atmosphere and ambience I witnessed.
Within a couple of weeks my mother was asking if her stay could be made permanent. She is very complimentary about the staff, and is particularly enthusiastic about how helpful they are.
She appears a more contented individual since moving into Muirfield, happy with the meals provided, as well as the varied programme of events, and opportunities for interaction with other residents.

Both my sister and I are delighted to have made the arrangement permanent.

Reply from Brodie Nichol, Director at Muirfield

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We're so pleased to hear how well your mother has settled at Muirfield and that she quickly felt at home. It's wonderful to know she's enjoying the meals, activities, and the company of others, and that you and your sister feel confident and happy with the decision. Your kind words are greatly appreciated by the whole team. Best wishes.

My father has been a resident now for several months at Muirfield. He was very nervous to move in to a care home but has taken to Muirfield and the wonderful staff like a duck to water. Everyone from the front desk, to his individual carers have been amazing. We are very happy with the level of care he receives.

My experience of Muirfield Nursing Care Home over the last year has been of satisfaction and contentment knowing that my wife is in capable hands of her carer, laundry, nursing professions, and cleaners. It is organised by professionally trained personal. There is always a greeting from the office staff through to the kitchen etc. This care home is one of the best.

This is our first experience of Nursing Homes & we are very very impressed with Muirfield Gullane. The cleanliness, the attention to detail, the staff, the care & overall complete professionalism by all staff.

The staff all have time to talk, to care & to listen, and to get to know the resident AND the love-ones & extended family. Many many thanks!

It is always difficult to make the decision to put a loved one into a care home We have been married for 61 years so it is a huge change to live apart for both of us Thankfully it was the best thing we could have done. It is a great relief to me to see her being extremely well looked after and cared for in the home. I cannot fault the care she is getting. All the staff do a first rate job, in addition keeping me advised of her medical needs when they change, which can be daily. I cannot find fault with this Home knowing that my wife is being very well cared for in a safe, comfortable environment.

We and most importantly, my mother experienced nothing less than the best of care at Muirfield.

It is always a challenging decision to move into a care home and the transition was smooth thanks to the team of dedicated nurses and carers who take so much trouble to assist in the process. Everyone is friendly and smiling. We could not have asked for more. A first-rate home.

My mother, who has Alzheimer's Disease, and associated memory loss has been a resident in Muirfield Care home for over a year now.
The decision to move her into care was hard.. however, the staff made the transition easy and as stress-free as these things can be.

I feel we all have gained new family and friends at Muirfield. The burden of carer rotas, medication collection/provision, and personal care are all being handled seamlessly. It is wonderful to be a “daughter” and family member again- that person had rather disappeared in the carer role.

Reply from Julie Kennedy, Marketing Manager at Muirfield

Thank you for providing feedback regarding the care transition and ongoing support for your mother, and that you can feel some relief with this. It can be a difficult time for all loved ones. Wonderful to know though that great relationships have been built up since.

My father developed a fever and chest infection, and the staff went out of their way to ensure he got the care, attention, and medication that he required. Within a few days he was showing signs of improvement, and to ensure his recovery, he was also isolated for a few days too. During his time in the home, he has built up a rapport with some of the staff and asks for one staff member in particular. Excellent.

My mother has now been at Muirfield for 1 and a half years. The permanent members of staff are always very cheerful and kind and seem to have built up a good relationship with her. They always give my mother a good welcome back when she has been away staying with us at home for a few days. The food is good and there is a great hairdresser. The gardens are very well tended and my mother spends as much time as possible outside. The gardener even keeps jobs back for her to do.

My father has been a resident for 9 months or so. The home is always clean and welcoming. The continuing Covid 19 procedures are a bore but understandable and acceptable! The staff are friendly, capable and professional. In particular, I wish to make a special mention to one member of staff who is based on the third floor. He is a star who is kind, thoughtful to the individual patient's needs and very helpful. He gives us great confidence that my father is being very well looked after and in a safe, comfortable and caring environment.

My mother has been in Muirfield for over 2 years. She is being very well looked after. The staff are always very pleasant to me and my mother. They are often short handed but cope efficiently and with good quality care. They respond quickly to requests from me or my mother.
The atmosphere in the home is very warm and welcoming. All the management team seem to know the residents well and recognise me too.

Sometimes there is a lack of communication - I am not always kept up to date with developments but I appreciate the difficult circumstances under which staff are working.
