Over the four plus years, the support provided to my brother has been at a good standard. It has improved over the period due to my brother accepting that he had to remain in care for his own good. Consequently, the rapport between the competent staff and him reached a very positive level which continued
until his sad death in May 2022. The staff made his time there productive and comfortable.
Reply from Susan Macdonald, Home Manager at Meadowvale Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave a review for us. Your brother settled in very well and all the staff loved having him in our care home, we will miss him dearly.

My father has lived at Meadowvale since August 2020. Dad lost his sight and needed more care. He has never been happier; he loves life again. The carers are amazing, he loves chatting and joking with them. He is very well looked after, and in his own words, "it's the best thing I could have done for
him was to move him here", he feels safe, clean, well-fed and cared for. As a daughter, what more could I ask for.
Reply from Susan Macdonald, Home Manager at Meadowvale Care HomeWhat a wonderful review of Meadowvale Care Home. Thank you for your very positive feedback. We are delighted that you chose us as your preferred home for your dad. Its always good to talk and share how things are going and I look forward to catching up with you in the near future.

My aunt has been in this care home for a few months now and has settled in really well, She is well looked after, and the staff are so amazing with her. Every time I go to visit, she is so happy; she loves getting her hair done and comments on how nothing is ever too much trouble for her. It was difficult
during the Covid-19 outbreak not to be able to see her, but the home arranged FaceTime and assisted her with this. Thank you for looking after my aunt. You are all amazing.
Reply from Susan Macdonald, Home Manager at Meadowvale Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave an excellent review. I am so glad your aunt has settled well and you are happy with the care and attention she receives. I will share your positive feedback with all the staff here at sunny Meadowvale.
Thank you again.

My father-in-law has recently moved into Meadowvale and the staff have been fabulous with him and our family. He was moving from another area council and Meadowvale made what is a very stressful family situation so much easier.
On his arrival, they met all of us and explained all about his room and
dinners and nothing was too much for them. They had prepared his room for his arrival with all his personal belongings which was a lovely touch and made this space feel like his from the start. With the support of the brilliant staff, he has settled so well and loves the food - high praise indeed! Communication from the team is excellent. They took time with him to get to know what he liked - even to how he liked his cup of tea. They are a credit to this care home.

Thank you so much!

Overall, I’m satisfied with the care provided to my father, but my involvement has been greatly limited over the past 2 years due to Covid-19. I believe that my father is content in the care home, but he doesn’t normally take part in activities.

My mother is settled, eating, and looking well. I have noticed an improvement in her care over the last few months. The management are trying their best but some of the staff could be doing with more training. Staff shortages contribute to shortcuts but they have always shown kindness to my mother.

My mum has been in Meadowvale for 9 months, she is happy and well cared for. The staff are amazing and very friendly. The events coordinator is amazing, she goes over and above for the residents. My mum was unwell and the care she was given, by two members of staff in particular, was first class. Mum
had to go into hospital and a member of staff phoned to keep us updated and called while Mum was in hospital to check up on her. When Mum was ready to go back she was delighted to see all her friends in the home.

Sadly, my father passed away in April 2021 and I wanted to take this opportunity to comment on the fantastic care he received right up until he passed away. Dad was only transferred to Meadowvale in January, and even in that short space of time, we knew he was well cared for and in the best place to
support him and his needs. The staff got to know him so well and they made that short time for him fun and a place we know he felt safe in and well looked after. When Dad passed sadly away the staff were with him and held his hand so he wasn't alone and we cannot thank them enough for that. Then the care and attention we have had as a family before and after is second to none. I cannot recommend the team here highly enough, they are all fabulous and deserve the biggest thank you for all the work they do and for the care they gave to Dad. Thank you.
Reply from Tracy Hicks, Home Manager at Meadowvale Care HomeThank you very much for your very kind words and for taking the time to leave us a review we can share with our community. Sadly on the 6th of March 2020, my darling Mother passed away while residing at Meadowvale Care Home.
Although she was in her 96th year and suffering from dementia, she was happy, young at heart and extremely comfortable in her surroundings.
I cannot praise the staff enough who cared so much for my
Mother, they nursed her, stroked her brow, kissed her and never left her side. She knew they were there and even managed a loving smile for these amazing people right to the end.
This gave great comfort to all our family.
At Mum's service donations of over £500 were received and will be donated to Meadowvale.
Thank you to the manager for caring and comforting my Mum and thank you to each and every one of your amazing staff.

My mum stayed in Meadowvale for 3-years, during that time she was happy and very well cared for. Sadly she passed away at the beginning of this month. I am writing this review to thank the staff, especially one member, who did everything possible to ensure my mum was comfortable and pain-free at all
times. You made sure we as a family got to spend time with my mum, something I will always be grateful for.

My mum was a resident for nearly a year, and prior to my mum arriving at Meadowvale I was a bit concerned how she would settle it. I needn't have worried, my mum settled in right away thanks to all the staff who made my mum feel right at home. Every time I visited I was made very welcome, the staff
were always very helpful and were giving my mum plenty attention, as well as the other residents, they even got my mum to join in some activities which I never thought she would.
My mum's room was very nice and bright, there was never any issues with cleanliness or maintenance and would recommend to other families.

Have been here for various reasons and most recently for an open day. Very friendly staff and the presentation of the interior is clean and well maintained. Have also been part of their Christmas fayre as well and on every other occasion I've been in, the staff are always interacting with the residents,
which is nice to see. I even helped organise a day visit for some back at Christmas and to watch the carers look after them in the simplest but hard-working manner in and out of their bus etc was good to know that people still take the time to be professional and friendly. You could see that they genuinely cared for their residents rather than it just "being their job"! Even 1 resident spoke highly of the lady who is the admin in the office which again speaks volumes in itself.

Understaffed, especially at weekends. Patients waiting for up to 1 hour, often longer for toilets. Patients transport vehicle is very, very seldom used for patients. Had to use own transport for hospital visits/transfusion etc. Medical staff poor, prescription pills that were not required eg 8 paracetamol,
in case they were in pain and didn't know it. Mishandling patients by lifting inappropriately. Activities, especially on the first floor, are virtually non-existent. What good staff there was. Didn't stay long.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.640)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.640) out of 10 for Meadowvale Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.790 for Meadowvale Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (133 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 162 Ratings = 4.79
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Meadowvale Care Home is based on 14 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.85
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 14 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, my name is Susan, and I am the Administrator at Meadowvale

I have been with my husband for a lot of years (too many to count) and have 3 grown-up children and 1 Grandson who I love to spend lots of time with.
I have worked at Meadowvale for 3 ½ years. Before joining the team at Meadowvale, I worked in a few various roles from Administration, Trainee Recruitment Consultant, to Catering Manager and I had never worked in the Health Care sector before I joined the team here.
I absolutely love the fact I have a varied job role and I get to do lots of different things each day and I am known for helping wherever I am needed.
I am usually the main point of contact for the home and I get to meet all the relatives of our residents. I absolutely love working at Meadowvale and I find it very rewarding working with residents and staff as every day is different.

I have worked in various roles before coming to Meadowvale and although I am responsible for all the housekeeping and laundry staff, I have been known to be called upon for various tasks around the home to the extent I think I will change my name.
I ensure that Meadowvale is kept to the highest of standards, co-ordinate staff in their daily duties and help ensure that the residents are happy. I enjoy getting to know our residents and their families to ensure their rooms are as comfortable and homely as it would be in their own homes.
