Is been a good experience for myself and I have got really friendly with some of the staff.
The staff involve you in all the activities, there is a fitness instructor that trains you, and gives advice on the best way to train with your medical needs.

My brother recently transitioned to Gilmerton NCC to support his rehabilitation. The process has been seamless staff have worked hard to create a smooth transition whilst supporting my brother throughout. The communication has been fantastic I cannot thank the staff enough as they have gone over and
above to help him settle in, this is so reassuring for me.

When visiting we are always made feel welcome, staff are on hand to help if and when required and I feel very happy with the care my brother is receiving. The facilities are bright, warm & welcoming and I appreciate the security measures in place when entering/exiting the building.

His suite is bright, clean and well positioned within the home to ensure he has easy access to all areas promoting his independence. He has the opportunity to take part in a variety of different activities which I'm sure he will more than enjoy.

Again, thank you all so much for everything!

I have visited quite a few care homes in the last is years + Gilmerton is the best by far. All the staff I have dealt with have been professional, friendly + supportive in equal measure. I was especially impressed with the holiday trip that was organised for my client.
The care that Gilmertan has
provided my client has brought my client back to life and he is ready for a new chapter when he moves on.

I have nothing but admiration and praise for each and every one of the team at GNCC, for the tender loving care they provided my wife. Sadly, my wife passed away in May this year, and I've been told that her presence is missed in the home. We talk about people being part of the family, and don't always
get a real sense of what that means, but within GNCC, the staff and the residents do become friends, and love each other like a family, it's beautiful. Thank you for everything you do each and every day.

My partner has recently moved into the NCC at Gilmerton after a long stay in hospital. The whole process from being visited by staff from the NCC prior to admission then discharge from hospital was straightforward and easy. The staff have been very welcoming and understanding of his various needs. They
have given him time to settle and have not overwhelmed us with information. He has been seen by the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist who will create a program for his continued rehab. Every member of staff we have spoken with has taken the time to introduce themselves and have all been very friendly, approachable, welcoming and understanding of my partner's difficulties and happily remind him of their names when he forgets. We are looking forward to starting the next stage of his continued recovery and working with the team who I am confident will help and support us every step of the way.

My mum started here in January, I was nervous about this to begin with but as she settled in I became more confident. The staff were very reassuring and they built up amazing relationships with me and my mum. I feel that this is the best place for my mum to be as they have so many activities for my
mum to participate in. My mum is really happy here and has now settled in.

Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre is very close to being excellent all-round. The staff, managers, carers and office staff are very helpful and supportive, extremely welcoming to visitors too. Everyone is consistent in all aspects in my experience. I recognise they struggle with ongoing problems using
their on-site mini-bus on occasion.

I am very happy with Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre, my mum is so happy, she gets a very high standard of care. She is always clean, tidy and happy. The activities are fantastic, my mum was so busy in December with panto, out for Christmas lunch, out to see Christmas light, Christmas party, Christmas
jumper day and lots more. My mum now goes out to a volunteer job role. She is so happy as she thought after her stroke she would never work again, this has improved my mother's concept 100%. All my family are so grateful to the staff and management at Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre.

Our son has been a resident here since 2013 and there have never been any problems in that time. All the staff are lovely and so dedicated and can be approached at any time. Always kept informed on how our son is, whether it be he's had an off day or how his physio is going. There's always laughter,
a super atmosphere, great care home.

Dad has been at Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre for twenty-plus years. He has always seemed very happy and content with living here. His needs are met and are well supported by staff. Staff are also very good at informing family as and when any updates are required, particularly during the challenging
period of Covid-19. We as a family are very happy Dad is here and can't thank the staff enough for the support they provide.

I was a resident at Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre; when I came in I was a proper state. Through care, attention, structure, routine, rehabilitation, activities and therapies; 6 months on I've managed to leave under the home's guidance and have been reintegrated back into the community. Gilmerton
Neurological Care Centre has helped me recover my individuality and self-identity.
Throughout my stay, I was not only treated with respect and dignity but helped to the degree I needed as my needs required. I couldn't have done it without you, Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre thank you so much, I love you all!

My friend is in the Neurological Centre. Since her admission, I’ve noticed a marked improvement in her condition. The staff really care and treat her as they would a friend. I have nothing but the highest regard for all the staff who look after the patients. They often do more than they need to and
I thank them from the bottom of my heart for making my friend happy.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.630)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.630) out of 10 for Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.830 for Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.83
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gilmerton Neurological Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 15 registered maximum number of service users is 3, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
