The staff at Cardonald Care Home go over and beyond to care for all the residents including my auntie. They took time to settle my auntie in and made her feel like part of the loving, caring family that they all are.
My auntie has been treated with respect and dignity which makes us all happy too.
She
takes part in many of the activities which include dancing which she had always loved.
I would like to also thank them for the Facebook page that was set up within these challenging times as we cannot personally visit our loved ones due to Covid restrictions, so this means that we can see them through photos and videos.
I would like to thank the staff so much as they are amazing.

The staff all chat with my mum, everyone is so nice and treats Mum with patience and love. The job the staff have done this past year is remarkable and deserves to be recognised. The only thing I would say is that communication is sometimes not good.

My mum has been in Cardonald Care Home for just over a year now and has been well looked after.
The staff are very friendly with a caring attitude and during this pandemic have been great with all the problems that have arisen during this time.
Using social media, the residents' relatives and friends
have been updated with everything that's going on in the home which helps give us all a good peace of mind.

My Mother in Law was a resident in this home for many years. Through thick and thin the staff formed a strong bond with her, despite her grumbles and somewhat pass remarkable comments. They were attentive to her and we always felt she was amongst friends (including her favourite entertainer). Everyone
had time for a blether with her- the care staff, kitchen and laundry staff and not forgetting the handyman and she enjoyed filling us in on the gossip. We were always made to feel welcome and appreciated staff who took time to organise face time when we were unable to visit. We are glad to have the memories of her 90th birthday afternoon tea when all gathered to celebrate with her.

My sister has been a resident for 4 years. She cannot speak so communication is difficult but the wonderful staff find a way. She could not have better care. One lady, in particular, has been very helpful, with photos and updates during the lockdown. The place is spotless and friendly.

This care home and its staff have proven to be the best provider in the area, for my mother, since her expulsion from another home.
Being essentially bedbound and at times acutely anxious of being murdered, the staff have often managed to elicit from her, other more pleasant past memories offsetting
to some extent such persevering anxieties. The staff have managed to reinstate her use of a specialised chair to enable her to feel the fresh air and sun on her face, limited only by her capacity.
The health risk management of her falling from the restraint of her bed, and the sensitive management of her overview, personal soothing and assistance, whilst not raising the acute anxiety resultant from seeing strangers, has been exemplary. Put simply, the staff are technically competent, fundamentally honest, and they care. Staffing levels and staffing/management quality, provide as pleasant an environment free from pervasive odours, as any care home in Glasgow.

I would like to take this opportunity as a family to thank the amazing staff at Cardonald Care Home for the outstanding care my Mum received during her 2 and a half years as a resident there. The home staff became like family, always treating Mum with compassion, dignity at all times, and their outstanding
personal family support when we needed it throughout Mum's time at the home. Sadly after a short illness, Mum passed away at the end of August and I want to express my gratitude to all staff at the home, they went above and beyond their caring role during her last few weeks, showing dedication, personal love and care she needed at this difficult time. This has helped us deal with our loss knowing that her palliative/end of life care was first class, treating her with the respect she deserved. As a family, we want to thank each care team member in the home for their dedication and quality of care and for the support the family have received from them especially at this time.

My Mum has been in this care home for a few months now. Every photo on Facebook the residents are always doing something be it dancing singing bingo making cakes, they even had a Frank Sinatra and Elvis singer outside in the lovely garden, everyone enjoying themselves. Even during COVID they were all
occupied and visits at the window what a great job they did.
Well done to all the hard-working caring staff.

My father is a new resident of Cardonald. He was moved in just before lockdown, an extremely anxious time for everyone. My mother and I were heartbroken we couldn’t settle my father in ourselves. The staff have been absolutely first class. They have gone above and beyond and we couldn’t ask for more.
My dad seems to have settled well under extremely difficult circumstances and all the staff who are helping him have been so helpful and kind, taking time to help my dad communicate through social media. My dad looks happy and well cared for, he told us he had a fish supper on Friday and true enough fish and chips were on the menu. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, it’s very much appreciated. We know he’s been very well looked after.

My mum was accepted into Cardonald Care Home for respite care. My sister and I visited the home the week before Mum was due to arrive. I had never been in a care home before and was very surprised by the welcoming atmosphere. The staff all took time to say hello and watching them with the residents
instantly put us at ease.
We were shown around the home and were given lots of information and we both knew right away that the staff would absolutely look after our mum very well.
We were told to bring Mum's things the day before her arrival to have her room ready with all her familiar things from home.
The care my mum received was first class.
I would recommend this care home, it’s warm homely feel and caring kind staff made my mum's first time in respite care much easier than we anticipated.

As a former nurse, I could see that my mother was treated with kindness and compassion. Everything I asked for her was accommodated as far as possible. There are many names that I recognise as kind but there are two in particular who were kind enough to take my mum with us to Rothesay. That meant so
much to all of us in her last days, thank you all again. You have no idea what it meant to us.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.608)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.608) out of 10 for Cardonald Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.708 for Cardonald Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.708
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cardonald Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 31 registered maximum number of service users is 6.2, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
