They interact with the residents and try to stimulate their interest. The level of care is very good.

My mum arrived from hospital and they took care of her, she was happy with her new room and the entertainment as there so happened to be a band playing that afternoon, perfect!

Her room was lovely and very comfortable, the food seemed decent and the heating could be controlled at a local level from

her room.

When mum's health deteriorated and we were told the devastating news that my mum did not have long but the nursing home agreed to palliative care which meant we did not need to move her. I stayed with her the whole time for a further 2 nights and 3 days before she passed, during which time the staff (all of the staff from the cleaner all the way up to the manager) looked after mum and me.

The standard of care, compassion and overall heart was exceptional and I can hand on heart recommend them as a place that will assist in the care of your loved one. Thank you Arcadia Gardens. I simply cannot thank you enough for making what was a very difficult time that little bit more bearable.

What a lovely home and it has such a good feel about it. The staff are always helpful and kind. My friend has been really well looked after. There is laughter in the air but respect as well. The staff have such a hard job and do it so well.

I do not think the patients, who are able, are taken out enough.

When I visited my gran, she was so happy. Her hair was lovely as the agency staff nurse had done it that morning. Care staff had painted her nails and she was sitting enjoying music with other residents. The home is lovely, clean and this makes me feel happy that my gran now stays there. My mum is going
to help take people out for trips and this will be good for them.

My father-in-law was resident in the home for 4 years. The care he received was remarkable. The staff could not do enough for him. Everything they did seems effortless. Compassion and communication was highly on display. As relatives, we were always involved in his care and kept well informed. The care
during his last days was exceptional. The staff on Bruce Unit could not do any better. The treatment was 1st class to family and resident. Highly recommended.

This review is to highlight how fantastic the activities are in this care home. All so varied and enjoyable. A therapist massages resident's hands with oils which is very relaxing and calming. There was a fashion show and also a ceilidh which is great as relatives get involved too. At Easter a singer
has been arranged and everyone had a lovely time. Mum was so happy and content. It is so good to know our love ones are being entertained, with such fulfilling activities and getting the care and attention that they deserve.

Dad is really settled in Arcadia Gardens. He is well looked after by the care staff and nurses. It's a team effort with myself and my brother visiting him very regularly and making sure he has everything he needs. Dad is treated with care, compassion and dignity.

My father has settled in well to this home and is kept spotlessly clean and tidy. Staff are very helpful and informative when asked about my father. My father's level of care has improved since he came to live here (local authority carers did not provide this level of care).

I am extremely delighted with the care and dignity shown and given to my mother. Since she moved into care at Arcadia Gardens. She has settled in the home and she is noticeably changed for the better. All staff and management have been very helpful and have shown great respect to my mother since she
moved in 11th May 2017. I would have great pleasure in recommending Arcadia Gardens to anyone.

After the initial settling in period, I am happy to say that all concerns are taken on board regarding my brother's day to day care.
He has settled better than expected and I think this is due to the manager, staff and facilities.

Mum has only in since December 2016, so far we are happy with her care, staff are helpful and mostly pleasant. Could be some activities during the day to keep residents amused as mostly television daily, maybe try music that older folk love to hear.

The carers at Arcadia Gardens provide a good level of care for the residents. They, the carers, are dedicated to providing a high level of attention to the needs of the residents and of their welfare. This includes personal hygiene and their meals. The staff also interact with the residents.

My mother was transferred to the home from a hospital 240 miles away. The care home manager was extremely helpful with the arrangements and my mother received an excellent welcome and was made at ease in her new surroundings. My mother's condition prevented her taking part in much activity but she was
never lonely in her room and the care staff kept her spirits up and cheerful to the end. I cannot thank or praise the staff of Arcadia Gardens Care Home enough for their nursing and care of my mother. I would choose this home for myself!!

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.181)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.181) out of 10 for Olympia House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Olympia House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.264 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Olympia House Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.139
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
