My mum has been in the care home since August 2019 and has been well cared for. Her every need has been met, and the staff keep me updated on all aspects of her daily life. Any time I phone, they are very pleasant and informative. Big, big thank you.

My mother was in this care home for just over 3 months, to say the least, I was fooled. My mother's dignity was taken by several staff members, my mum ended up in hospital, where she still is in hospital. The staff members including management are a clique, the things that do go on would make your hair
curl. I would not like anyone's loved one to suffer the way we have. I would not put anyone in there, in my opinion, the place should be shut down, never a call from the manager or anything to see how my mum was doing, it's an absolute disgrace.

The staff are amazing - very caring and treat Mum with dignity and respect. The overall place looks a little shabby and could maybe be updated. The main gripe is Wi-Fi - the connection when video calling is awful! Mum's TV doesn’t get good reception either. Laundry requires attention too - clothes go
missing/wrong clothes returned!

I came to visit my mum after not seeing her for 3 and a half years. The staff are so caring and welcoming, mum looked great with her hair done and dressed nicely.
Mum has dementia and won't talk much, however she communicates a little with the team at Whitecraigs as she sees them daily.
I live abroad
and it gives me great peace of mind knowing mum is well looked after and cared for 24/7.
The team at Whitecraigs are angels and did so much before, during and after Covid.
I'm very grateful and in awe of them all.
A huge thank you for everything.

Dad was a resident at Whitecraigs for about nine months. All the staff at Whitecraigs were a great support to Dad, treating him with respect, dignity and loving care. The staff have always helped me and my brother regarding visits, telephone calls to Dad and any help we required with Dad's care. All
the staff went out of their way to help in any way possible. Whitecraigs is a 'happy place' for all the residents and their families. Dad sadly passed away this week but the end of life care he received was amazing, he was treated with so much loving care and the nursing care that Whitecraigs provided was outstanding. Whitecraigs not only support and cares for the residents they also care and support the relatives of the residents. This is a care home of outstanding quality in all areas.

My mum enjoys her time in this care home, says herself that she has a good laugh. I struggled at first when she was there but now she is so settled I couldn't bring her home, she loves it that much
The staff are amazingly kind and always around if need help, always busy singing and dancing entertaining
the residents
Great care home.

My Dad is in Whitecraigs Care Home and I can't thank the staff enough for what they do and have done for him. My brother and I looked at loads of care homes but this one stands out by a mile for its friendly staff and how much they care for every resident and their families. Nothing is too much trouble
for them. When you go in everybody is happy and smiling.

Over the past year, our mum has received the most caring and loving support. This also applies to us, her family, especially in her last weeks. We really admired the dedication shown in the past weeks with staff shortages due to isolation etc. They all came to work and took their turn at anything required,
working many extra shifts.

Our mum was at Whitecraigs for just over a year. For most of that year, she was well and was able to join in activities. The staff all made a real effort to get to know her and make her feel welcome. The end of life care Mum received was second to none. After being discharged from the hospital Mum got
her dignity back at Whitecraigs and was treated with respect and kindness at an important stage of her life.

I cannot rate Whitecraigs highly enough - during testing times of late, staff have always been respectful and caring. Care staff go above and beyond and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The reintroduction of a cuppa for visitors is welcome and contributes to the home-from-home atmosphere. The activities
coordinators always seem to come up with novel ideas to continue to stimulate the residents and are to be commended. Thank you all and keep up the good work!

My mum has settled very well into the Home. All the staff go above and beyond to provide a home from home in a caring environment. Residents are treated with respect and dignity and there is a happy, family atmosphere. Staff really care about the residents and have strong relationships with them. Staff
take the time to get to know relatives of residents and discuss with and keep them informed of all aspects of their relative’s care.
There are many and varied activities for fun, stimulation, exercise, etc. Garden area at back provides an attractive, peaceful area to sit outdoors with relatives. Facebook page available to relatives is regularly updated by staff with photos and videos of day-to-day life in the Home which is greatly appreciated. Renaisssance Care could be doing with upgrading the outside appearance of the building (windows require painting/upgrading), main entrance door. Hope the new cook can keep up the provision of home baking with residents’ cups of tea.

The staff go above and beyond their call of duty to make sure that your loved one is made to feel comfortable and cared for. They have kept me well informed on any updates during this pandemic. I can’t thank them enough for their hard work and commitment and they have made my father feel like part
of their family.

During the period when I have been unable to visit my husband the home itself, and the group has been brilliant at keeping us informed. We have our own closed Facebook group where photos and information are posted about activities that are happening. There are regular emails from the group about the
infection status across the group, and calls from the home about infections should there be any in the home that my husband is in. Staff call to let me know about any issues that my husband has had, and the measures that have been taken. To keep in touch with my husband the gifts from home that I've taken in have been welcomed and passed on to him. The staff has continued their amazing work despite the difficulties placed on them by the new measures they have to comply with because of the lockdown situation.

The staff are exceptional all very caring and respectful towards my dad. I am so grateful to everyone who has looked after him through this extremely difficult time. His condition has actually improved since leaving the hospital and it has been lovely to see him up, walking and interacting with other
residents and staff. The staff are incredibly respectful to each resident regardless of their condition. Pre-Covid they were very helpful in making my dad's birthday special allowing us to have his friends and family celebrate. It has given us a family very special memories we can always treasure. I can’t recommend this home highly enough as everyone at Whitecraigs, no matter what their role, have been amazing and have become our extended family.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.522)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.522) out of 10 for Whitecraigs Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.405 for Whitecraigs Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (49 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.405
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.117 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitecraigs Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 registered maximum number of service users is 11.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.6 = 0.517
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
