My sister entered Morningside Care Home in November '21. It was a harrowing time for her and I as she experienced the loss of her home and neighbours. I was racked with guilt but soon admitted she needed a team behind her and not just me. Having been born with special needs and now suffering from Vascular
Dementia her future care was of great importance to me. Morningside had been recommended to me and as it was near my home it was the perfect place.
She was welcomed from the start by lovely carers and nurses who gave her the dignity and care she required. A growing rapport between herself and individual staff members became apparent and she enjoyed having fun with them. She loved the food and her own things around. After a cancer diagnosis things quickly changed. The staff were caring, compassionate, respectful, and always available to talk with me when required. I was happy with the respect they showed my sister too and this helped me greatly as she passed away. Many thanks.

My mother, after serious consideration by our family, went into this care home in February 21. We looked after our mum until we could no longer provide for her needs. Mum had vascular dementia. She died in September '21. During her time in the care home, there were a number of issues brought to the
then manager's attention, which never really got resolved. Mum was given cold food on at least 4 occasions that we were aware of, she was dressed in other people's clothes, she was not provided with a proactive support plan, relating to her poor mobility. She was "abused" and a staff member was dismissed under the protection of vulnerable adults, there were issues in relation to her being prescribed medication that meant she was unable to function and the manager stated she was tired! I raised all my complaints with the Scottish Social Services Council after mum died as there was no support offered by Thistle, the overarching organisation. I have since had it confirmed by the SSSC that all my complaints have been upheld.

My relative has been left in a horrible state on arrival, facing away from her TV and facing looking out the doorway, not as if anything exciting is happening out there. She has to hurt her back to watch the TV. She is also a high falls risk however, it has taken a number of complaints for a pressure
matt to be put in place. Catheter packets including scissors have been left out in arms reach of my relative to which she would be inclined to have a look through and would result in an accident. My relative had also been unwell however she was left with her back to an opened window with wet hair which could have resulted in her becoming very ill. Even though I have phoned before arriving every visit, I am yet to arrive to a visit where my relative is actually up and dressed. I have also walked in at 11.50 to find my relative hadn't even had breakfast and they were bringing it to her on my arrival. Her catheter care has been absolutely shocking and disgusting, I can't begin to explain the horror.

To everyone that has a parent or relative that has a debilitating illness such as Dementia and that if professional care is required, I would highly recommend Morningside Care Home, as my late father realised, it was a heartbreaking decision to make to see his beloved wife go into care.

This terrible

illness that Mom had, had taken it's toll on the Ffmily, but rest assured if you are looking for a care home that provides all the best possible needs, I can rest assure you Morningside Care Home is one of the best care homes you will find. The family realised it was the best decision Dad made for his beloved wife to be looked after professionally by this outstanding care home.

The care provided over the last last 7 years was outstanding, sadly Mom passed on the 7th September 2021, teh family chose for Mom to pass in the bedroom she has lived in over these years and at the time of Mom passing the managerial and caring staff were so supportive and caring.

Mom will be missed by all.

My mother entered Morningside Care Home at probably the staff's most difficult time facing how to support and keep, not only residents safe, but also themselves whilst trying to carry on as normal as restrictions allowed and trying to make up for the lack of visitors and usual services permitted into
the home.
Not only did they welcome and support my mother but gave support to me, not only face to face, but also over the telephone without making me feel a pest.
As things have opened up and Mum has been allowed out of the home, there is always a warm welcome from the staff on her return and a cup of tea is never far away. In relation to any health issues these are dealt with speedily and feedback to me is excellent.
To sum up I can now relax knowing that my mother is being well cared for and no longer at risk, her physical health has improved and she is in an environment where she is accepted and listened to.
Many thanks to the whole team that makes this service a home.

From the minute we arrived for the 1st visit we were blown away by the level of care and dedication of the staff here. The care given is second to none and is always provided with a smile and humour. Food is homemade and of excellent quality. The activities provided in normal times are great and very
stimulating. Overall experience is nothing but positive. My relative is so much healthier and has blossomed while in here.

My uncle was a resident at Morningside for just short of two years. From the minute he arrived at Morningside he felt at home. The management and staff went out of their way to find out his hobbies and interests and went the extra mile to make sure he kept an interest in them. As a lifelong Motherwell
fan, he was treated to a matchday with souvenirs thrown in, all organised by the staff. They were transported and accompanied by a member of staff and to say they had a great day was an understatement. I personally had no worries while my uncle was at Morningside as he received the best of care. The past year has been a difficult one for everyone but Morningside did an excellent job keeping everyone safe, while at the same time doing everything in their power to keep us connected with our loved ones. My uncle sadly passed away at Morningside on 7/2 but in his last days with them he was cared for to the highest standard as was I. I can’t recommend Morningside enough! A massive thank you.

My aunt has been a resident within the care home for a number of years now, the care home has been a place of safety where I know she is loved and cared for by all the staff in the care home. The environment is open, airy and colourful and my aunt always enjoys having the company of the other residents.
The staff have always been very friendly and courteous, my aunt has told me they 'work really hard'.
Although for almost the last year now, I have not been able to visit I look forward to the time when we can meet up in person again, the vaccinations are underway and hopefully, it will not be much longer, however knowing she is being well cared for, safe and well provided for, gives me the comfort I need.

The whole journey of finding a care home for my mum during this pandemic was extremely difficult and stressful. I wanted to be sure my mum was going to the best place for her needs and where care standards were high. My first contact with Morningside was when I telephoned the manager many weeks before
any decision was made as to my first choice for Mum. The manager was so lovely and welcoming on the phone, explained the process to me and put my mind at ease. I was given all the information I asked for, she was so helpful and I felt confident I was choosing the best care home for my mum. From the day Mum became a resident the staff have been exceptional, very helpful, caring, compassionate and look after Mum to a high standard. I myself have been a carer for nearly 30 years and my standards are high and I can hand on heart say that the staff deliver a high standard of care to all residents. Staff become family to our loved ones and this shines through every day.

The management and staff have been fantastic during this Covid 19 pandemic, ensuring that our Dad is kept as safe as possible. As a family, we deeply appreciate everything they do for him (as they did for our Mum during the short time she spent there last year). The regular updates with emails, phone
calls and Tweets are appreciated, and we particularly treasure the opportunity to visit him in the garden on a weekly basis. We are looking forward to the day when restrictions are eased, and we hope to be able to take him out, however, in the meantime, we trust Morningside wholeheartedly to keep our Dad as safe as they can. Thank you for all the love and care you show to him.

Morningside Care Home has been what I would call my mum's home, safe place and community that she has lived in for over 5 years now.
Albeit having worries about what this meant for Mum in a care home environment, I felt comfortable and positive about what could be a good place for her to be looked
after.
Over the years her care and well being has been addressed at all stages and when issues have arisen they have been resolved with positivity and knowledge of me and my family.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19 my family and I have, like many, been unable to visit. This has been difficult, but I have supported this necessary shielding to protect her and other residents.
The staff have always looked after my mum well and have in ways been my mum's extended family. She has been kept safe and they have done their best to meet her emotional and physical needs.
Morningside Come Home is a safe haven for my mum and I am thankful to all staff for all that they do for her each and every day.

After a hospital admission, the time had come for myself and my family to make the very hard decision of finding a care home for my sister as she was no longer able to stay in her own home. From the first moment entering Morningside Care Home, we knew it was the perfect place for my sister. The staff
are amazing and every one of them so welcoming to both my family and my sister. Nothing is ever too much bother and they always go above and beyond with a smile on their faces. My sister has settled in well with her “new extended family” and I have the peace of mind that she is extremely well looked after and cared for.

Morningside Care Home is a clean, well-maintained environment where my mother receives excellent care. I particularly appreciate how all staff interact with residents and treat them with kindness and respect, regardless of challenges. With current restrictions, we as a family do not get to visit Mum

You hope to find a worthy home for your loved one; a place where they are treated like family. Cared for with thoughtfulness, patience and genuine loving care of people looking after their own. This is my experience with Morningside.
The care of people with dementia is a hugely demanding task, even
more so under current circumstances. Not that you'd notice the pressure of the responsibilities the staff bear as they appear warm, vigilant, gentle and good-humoured while caring for their charges.
When I've raised questions, one point at the fore is to allow residents the maximum amount of agency, to make their own choices as much as they safely can. Which seems to increase the workload and demands on the staff, but they shoulder the added burden willingly, as far as I've seen.
During the ongoing restrictions barring visits, I have missed everyone at Morningside. Which is when you realise the care they show extends much further than just your loved one now living there.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.206)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.206) out of 10 for Morningside Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.781 for Morningside Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.781
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.425 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Morningside Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
