My mum was admitted to Morningside the same day lockdown began. At a difficult time, l had to entrust Mum to the care of the nursing team as l could not visit. I need not have worried. Although sadly her stay was short, Mum received nothing less than exceptional care when she needed it most. Despite
the stressful period the staff were dealing with, their positive attitude and caring manner was amazing. From carers and nurses to admin and management everyone is so pleasant and helpful. They not only treated Mum as a family member but they supported me so well at the end. Their openness and honesty were appreciated and I have no hesitation in recommending Morningside to anyone.
Reply from Christina Simmons, Manager at Morningside Care HomeIt is an honour and a privilege when we are given the opportunity to care for a loved one especially during the difficult period of lockdown whilst you were unable to visit freely. Your kind words are very much appreciated and we would like to thank you for trusting us to look after your mum.

My mother was a resident in Morningside Care home since July 2018. Although 94, she was very alert but had mobility problems. She very quickly settled in and was at pains to let everyone know she felt it was truly her home. The whole place was homely with lovely, caring staff who obviously had the best
interests of the residents at heart. Unfortunately, after a short illness, my mother died a week ago. The palliative care was amazing with the staff lovingly tending her. She was washed, changed, turned, had her hair brushed and as far as possible, had someone with her. The support the staff gave us at this time was just as impressive. We are so glad she spent her final months here among people who genuinely cared.

Staff are very helpful, care what they do and are very respectful towards the patients.
Nothing is too much bother for them. They are welcoming no matter when I visit. Rooms are clean and the food looks good, it tastes good too, so I am told by my dad.

My Mum and Dad were both residents of Morningside Care Home. Mum died in March this year and Dad is still resident.

I have complete faith in the staff; they look after their residents as if they were their own family, they always find the time to keep us up to date and they ensure that all residents

have a sense of wellbeing.

The home provides various entertainment programmes, outings, meets religious needs and has a hairdressing salon. All of these provide the residents with a varied daily/weekly lifestyle, similar to what they were used to when they lived in their own homes. The home, staff and residents are always clean. The décor is excellent for the residents and the catering is well received. The staff ensure that they know each resident very well; their likes and dislikes of entertainment, food, music, bed-times and so on.

Overall, the home is excellent and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who needs this type of care.

My mother has been a resident in Morningside Care Home since April 2018. My siblings and I were reluctant to consider a care home but Mum could no longer manage at home. We visited a number of homes and chose Morningside because of its location. Very positive inspection reports and the welcoming atmosphere
we experienced when we visited.
Mum has now settled into the home, is well looked after and is treated with dignity, warmth and respect by staff.

I can’t recommend everyone at Morningside Care Home highly enough for the care and support given to our Uncle. When our Uncle was at home, even though carers and family were helping to look after him, he had become a total shell of his former self and it was so distressing to watch him become so emancipated,
depressed, unable to weight bare and just giving up.
As a family, we had to urgently seek medical support on the situation after our Uncle was hospitalised for a second time within a short period. It was recommended that he would respond better in a care environment and he agreed to this. After visiting two homes, Morningside was his very own choice.
The difference in his health, weight, mobility, mood and the daily life he now shares with his friends is absolutely unbelievable, it didn’t happen all at once but the patience, care and support the staff have shown him has been brilliant. They have given him back his life and independence and for that we truly thank them. Also for the family support.

My Mum has dementia and putting her in a Care Home was the last thing I wanted but it is the best decision I made. My Mum is happy, relaxed and content and this is down to all the staff at Morningside. My Mum is very well looked after, is always busy with organised activities and has made some great
friends. The staff are very approachable and treat my Mum with respect and dignity, nothing is every too much trouble. I would highly recommend this home.

My friends mum is a resident at Morningside. On entering I was impressed how beautifully kept and how welcoming the care home was. I could see by looking around how much the care of the residents means to the staff. Walking through we were greeted by smiles and even though you could see that some of
the ladies and gentlemen had memory problems, you knew just by the way the staff acted around them that they felt safe and valued. I absolutely loved that the doors were made to look like house doors (a wonderful touch). I met a couple of members of staff who knew my friends mum well and gave over information, a lovely personal thing to do, as it's not easy for a family to leave their love one in someone else's care. The list of activities were brilliant and all geared around stimulation and making the clients happy. All in all a wonderful place. I would highly recommend Morningside to anyone who needs excellent care for their love one.

I would have no reservations in promoting the Morningside Care Home. I personally know other families who have had or currently have relatives in the home, and all are of the same opinion that the home is excellent. This fact was corroborated by the staff of the "Care Of The Elderly" ward at our local
hospital.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.056)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.056) out of 10 for Morningside Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.781 for Morningside Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.781
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.275 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Morningside Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 registered maximum number of service users is 12.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
