My Aunt became a resident of Doonbank Care Home last year . Since moving here, she was encouraged by staff to eat better, join in activities and socialise - I cannot recommend the staff highly enough - going above and beyond when she can be difficult at times due to illness . From the girls in the office to Tracey the chef, to the activities co-ordinators, everyone plays a great part in the smooth running of Doonbank. Rooms are homely and the food is great . Would highly recommend !! Thank you to all .

My brother has been made extremely welcome and I can't fault the staff who are all so nice and respectful. Their interactions seem authentic and genuine. I would like to see more activities and more people visit the home which creates different stimulus for the residents.

Write a review for us. In truth & by action we are reviewing a care home every time we visit. We review by what we see & hear. There is also instinct. What is the feeling you have when you enter a care home or other establishment? Are you uneasy about how staff operate? Are staff professional at all times, but can relax that a little just by smiling, valueing & respecting everyone they care for? Are the management team approachable, warm, welcoming & available to speak with at perhaps short notice? Questions require answers. In summary, there are no signs whatsoever that Doonbank generates a feeling of unease. The the opposite is the case. Professionalism is readily observed & constant. The management team are always available should we need to discuss matters regarding our loved ones. The caregivers provide people who live there, physical & emotional support to those who have chronic illnesses, dementia & other complex needs. I rest my case, happy my brother is a beneficiary.

Doonbank became Mums home from May 2025, and she's settled in so well and so very well looked after, every member of staff that I have had the pleasure to meet have been professional yet cheerful and the care and compassion shown to our Mum is second to none. I used to think that no one could care for Mum like myself, I am pleased to say I have been proven wrong.

Would 100% recommend to anyone who is looking for this kind of help.

Since the 1st phone call just over 3 weeks ago enquiring about availability in Doonbank care home to my father going in just over a week ago, I can't fault anything about the place, from the management to the domestics and everyone in-between they are all so friendly and take the time to answer any questions I have had. My father has settled in really well and all his needs are being catered for. I can't praise the home enough, I will go back to Cambridge knowing my father will be well taken care of.

My experience with home has been excellent. The rooms are just right. The staff are all friendly. It could do with more staff as it can be busy at meal times, and toilet visits can be hectic if more than one resident needs to go. All residents are well looked after and get on well with the staff.

We always find the home pleasant and comfortable. The staff are always nice and helpful

Surroundings are very pleasant and the customers seem to enjoy their trips out in the bus. One big thing we have noticed and commented on to each other is that you are not hit by the smell of urine as soon as you walk through the front door which is a very common thing in care homes.

My mother is in Doonbank care home and I cannot thank the staff enough for their compassion and care my mother is receiving. Even before her admission the attention to her every need was catered for. She has settled in well and participates in activities that are provided. This is an excellent care facility. From management to cleaning staff they simply can't do enough for the residents.

Doonbank Care Home provides a safe and welcoming place for my dad.
He seems happy so that is comforting for his family to know he is in safe hands.

My dad needs prompting some times to put clean clothes on, other than that we are happy with the care he receives.

I am very pleased with the care provided at Doonbank Nursing Home. The home is always clean and well-maintained, creating a comfortable environment for the residents. The staff are generally approachable and show genuine care and compassion in their work, which really makes a difference.

One small suggestion for improvement would be for the staff to spend more time sitting with the residents rather than congregating at a single table. This could enhance the sense of community and make residents feel even more included and supported. Overall, Doonbank Nursing Home is a wonderful place, and I feel reassured knowing my loved one is in good hands.

My dad is a resident in Doonbank House and since admission to the home he has been treated with compassion and kindness. The staff team are professional and caring and treats all the residents so well. The environment is homely and the food is freshly made and dad speaks highly about it. There had been a weight lifted off my shoulders now as I know dad is no longer at risk on his own at home and I can relax and sleep at night now. I cannot thank the manager and the team enough!

My grandad was in Doonbank for a long period of time. The care he received was fantastic. All staff kept me informed and updated. He always appeared clean and tidy when I was in visiting if he didn't want something from the menu the kitchen staff were amazing in making him what he wanted. Staff were all professional and you could tell they really cared for every resident.

Words cannot express the way I feel about all of the staff at Doonbank. They are exceptionally caring and show much patience with Dad. My dad has been doing activities and outings that I never thought he would do again, along with some new ones. The staff are also an amazing support system for both my brother and myself in many different ways, which I in particular find very comforting.

My mum moved to Doonbank Care Home in challenging circumstances but has really settled in and is improving. She is well cared for by kind and thoughtful staff and it is the little things that make a big difference - a kind word; taking time to ensure her clothes match; putting on her makeup and charging her phone. She enjoys a comfortable room, good food and socialising. The staff work so hard and this is appreciated by my mum and her loved ones. She is treated with dignity and respect - what more could she ask for?

My wife's mother had a stroke and passed away on 7th November. Due to the Covid restrictions, I had to telephone this news to my wife. The comfort and support my wife received over this period was outstanding. My last outside visit, last week, found the staff very supportive to both of us and I expect it will be the same this week. Excellent work by all concerned.
