Have been very pleased with the care Mum has received since she became a resident at Camphill care home. We feel Mum is being well looked after, she is kept clean, tidy and well dressed. The staff are excellent, although kept very busy, they are always very friendly and approachable. They treat all
the residents with care and compassion. It would be helpful if more folding seats could be made available for visitors at busy periods. Most importantly Mum seems to be happy and content and enjoys her busy surroundings.

Most of the meeting went well, but I brought up the point of the lack of activities for my mother as she is able to do certain things supervised she gets bored and depressed.

I used this home for respite for my father a few years ago, when he was more active and wanted to be home and the care put in place was excellent then. This recent stay gave me great peace to know that he was in the best possible place. The management, nurses and carers are such a wonderful, friendly
and professional 'team'.

I visit the care home 2-3 times a week and stay approximately 3 hours. This gives me some insight into the care practice. I have observed the following from care assistants - residents are treated with dignity. They have an excellent rapport with all residents, and appear to be aware of all their individual
needs.

The relative I visit has only good comments to make regarding all of them. They are very pleasant and welcoming to visitors. I find the nurses and deputy manager very professional and caring and always update on residents' condition/progress. They are very willing to act on any concerns raised.

I had always promised my mother that I would not put her into a home, but when she became unwell and then could not walk I had no other option. I can't believe how well my mother has settled and it is all down to the care of the staff and management (wonderful staff)

Was ready to give a wonderful, glowing report about the home, then I arrived one day at lunchtime to find my mother sitting in a room alone with a table in front of her and on it a cold hamburger, chips and a glass of milk. My mother is blind and doesn't like milk, all of which the staff are aware of.
I was assured someone helped mum with her food, no one was there and I couldn't really find anyone. Two days later, the day staff were reduced to one nurse and two helpers on a busy afternoon. Apparently, outside staff won't be paid for. Normally the home is a well run, good care home, one which I'm happy to leave my mother in but these things are quite disturbing. Finally, one day mum really needed the toilet, the staff were busy, I was told it'd be OK as mum had a pad on. Surely dignity went out the window there.

Mum, aged 86 years, was placed in Camphill for 3 weeks of rehabilitation after a fall at home. From arrival to discharge she was treated with respect, dignity, courtesy and friendliness by all staff members, each one a credit to their profession and role. Mum's comfort and well-being were their priority
and the attention to detail in the care given impressed me greatly. As her daughter and carer, I was welcomed and involved in her care and in any decisions at all times. In Mum's words 'if I ever need to move into a care home for good, then Camphill will be at the top of my list'. I was able to leave Mum every night knowing that she was safe and that her needs would be assessed and met by all possible means. Those reading this who are carers will appreciate how valuable this is. Each member of staff seemed to have a sense of pride in their work and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage them as their work is invaluable to those depending on their care and to families.

Excellent standard of care in every respect. Without exception, the staff are kind, caring and sensitive. The facilities are spotlessly clean and my father's personal care is attended to professionally at all times. He loves the food and always says that he could not be better cared for. The staff are
also exceptionally kind and supportive to my mother when she makes her daily visits to my father. All in all, we are most appreciative of everything that Camphill provides for us.

Camphill Care Home has been a revelation to the family for the overall improvement in our mother's health and well being since her admission for rehabilitation in February 2017. Whilst the first few weeks were very difficult the staff were so patient and kind that she soon settled in. Mum is now so
much brighter, alert and mobile than she has been in years. There are a lot of activities for the residents which she thoroughly enjoys and it has given her a new lease of life. The family are always made to feel very welcome and the staff are always available to answer any questions that we might have. It is reassuring for the family to know that she is being well cared for in such a pleasant and safe environment. The combination of professional nursing care, devoted caring staff, wholesome home cooked food and clean bright bedrooms and common areas makes us feel very fortunate that our mother is now a permanent resident in Camphill Care Home.

Our Mother is kept in her room with no contact with others and is left sitting for hours in a chair. The home is dirty despite our constant requests to clean her room. The food is not suitable for a vegetarian diet and there is very minimal effort to ensure a nourishing diet is provided for her.
There
are no activities we know of and we have no itemised list of activities for residents.
She is only bathed once a week and we try to insist on more, some weeks she is not given a bath.
Staff are hesitant to ensure medical needs are met i.e residents GP are contacted.
The manager repeatedly ignores our requests for improvements in care and cleanliness. Alarm bells are left ringing and residents are left waiting for care. This home needs to be looked into urgently.

Staff are extremely attentive, professional and friendly. I visit my sister every day and have observed the staff providing the same dedicated attention and care to those residents who seldom have visitors as they do to my sister.
I have every confidence in the staff and I am contented that my sister
could not be cared for in a more proficient and careful manner.

My experience with Camphill Care Home since my husband went into it is impeccable, to none. The staff are very friendly and the carers are excellent. They all make my husband's family and friends welcome and take the time to talk to us. I'm so glad my husband was admitted into it, he has settled in
so well. When you know the conditions are very good it leaves me content at home. I have visited at all different times, I have no complaints at all. The food is very good and plenty of good portions. I hope they keep the good work up.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.779)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.779) out of 10 for Camphill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.593 for Camphill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.593
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.186 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Camphill Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 registered maximum number of service users is 14.4. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.486
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
