My mum became a resident at start of lockdown last March. This was a very anxious time for both my mum and our family. We need not have worried as everyone from the management, office staff, chef, cleaning staff, and the wonderful team in the Navan Unit became Mum's second family. The patience, love,
care and understanding she was shown from everyone was exemplary.
Unfortunately, my mum became ill a short time ago, and needed palliative care. Again, the staff in Navan were outstanding, going above and beyond anything we could have hoped for.
I was warmly welcomed to visit both day and night, nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Sadly my mum passed away recently, and again, everyone at Orchard Lodge was so supportive and caring to all my family.
Orchard Lodge will always be a special place to me, and I will always be grateful for my mum's time there.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this care home to anyone.

Kept my father safe, he is happy and content- the staff are fantastic and really care. They kept the home Covid free, it is modern and spotlessly clean. Keep us in the loop and ask for our opinions. Really is a home from home for residents.

Following a stroke, my uncle had difficulty swallowing, moving and speaking, which was all made worse by his dementia. When he was admitted to Orchard Lodge, I was very impressed with how the staff looked after him. Because of Covid-19, my visits were limited, but while there, I noticed the patience
and professionalism of the staff, and I appreciated the efforts that they made to make his surroundings familiar. Unfortunately, my uncle suffered a second stroke within weeks. Palliative care was administered, and further limited visits were allowed until he passed away. Thank you to all of the staff. Based on my short experience, I would recommend Orchard Lodge to anyone looking for care for their loved one.

My Mum has been a resident in Orchard Lodge for three years. I cannot thank all the staff for the great care and attention my Mum receives at all times All staff are friendly and welcoming and do all they can to make my Mum feel at home. As she says herself 'the staff can't do enough for me and nothing
is too much trouble, they don't get paid half enough, my Mum's words, not mine. Any time I have visited, I always find my Mum in good form, clean and dressed well, her room is always spotless and all staff really friendly, can't thank you enough for all you do for her. I feel content as she is in such a friendly welcoming place, home from home.

This care home is excellent. The manager, together with her deputy and staff have shown the excellent infection control practices in the home by not having one case of Covid-19. The staff, including nurses, carer and ancillary staff have shown how caring and kind they are throughout the past 12 weeks
of lockdown, taking the place of we family members who were unable to visit. The manager and the deputy have kept in touch with regular updates, also offering Facetime to us. My mother is 102 years old this month and I cannot praise the care and attention she receives from everyone enough.

Orchard Lodge provided outstanding care to my grandfather during his time there. As a nurse myself they were always friendly, kind and helpful and from the first time I stepped into the home with my granny, Orchard Lodge became part of my family. They were always approachable and willing to put measures
in place as my grandas Alzheimer's progressed. They have great activities for residents and there was always a friendly atmosphere. Orchard Lodge staff cared for my granda with kindness and were very fond of him and this always was a comfort to me. The nursing home manager always responded to concerns and was always free to chat. This home is a great environment for the elderly and in particular, patients with dementia.

I always find my mum happy, well dressed and well looked after. She loves the food, the craic and the company of the other residents and staff. She plays games, bingo, bowls and sing-alongs. Gives me peace of mind at home knowing she is well looked after and having fun. The staff are all so good to
mum and me. Nothing is too much trouble.

I live in the United States and was home recently visiting my father at Orchard Lodge. To say I was impressed by the great care shown by the staff is an understatement. Dad looks better than he has in years, and now I can take comfort being away knowing that he is well taken care of. I recommend this
home to anyone considering it for a family member. Thanks to all there who keep him safe, clean, cared for and entertained.

I feel that dad is really well cared for and treated with dignity and compassion. I would recommend Orchard Lodge to anyone who has to go

I visited my aunt over Easter. The first time I have seen her in the Orchard. We were welcomed by any staff around and being after 5 o'clock, it could have been an awkward time for them. However, we soon found my Auntie, she was walking to the lounge, accompanied by "Sister" as she was calling her.
We then were shown her room - lovely and clean and bright with ensuite facilities. Just right for her at the moment. I managed to have a chat with the "Sister", later to tell her a little of my Auntie's life. She was very understanding and interested.

My granny moved into the home three years ago after living a very independent life into old age. Every time I come home from England to see her I am delighted to always find her so happy. She is always beautifully presented and enjoys the food which is wonderful as she lost so much weight prior to admission.
There are lots of activities if she so wishes to partake and has her weekly hair appointment which is something that is extremely important to her. The staff are never aware of when I am coming and not once have I been dissatisfied with what I have found on arrival. The staff are always friendly and helpful and more importantly knowledgeable about my granny. I always leave content and happy that she is being cared for to a high standard. I would not hesitate to recommend this home to any family who wants peace of mind that their loved one is being cared for.

As I live in England I visited my father quarterly and unannounced. I always found him to be well cared for and treated well and with proper dignity, as were all the other residents that I saw around at the time. I found all the staff very approachable and were able to answer all my questions and address
my concerns. Although the facilities are quite basic, it is the standard of care that matters and I found it to be of a very high standard.

My Mummy came here from her Belfast home to be near family which I was hesitant about at first but I couldn't visit her regularly before as I live in England. Can’t fault the care she had for the last few years and she always said she was happy here. She sadly passed two weeks ago with dementia. The
last couple of weeks were very comfortable and the staff all cared about Mummy so much. Would recommend very much.

It's now three months since my father became a resident in Ard Mhacha. I was anxious about the move and that his needs would be addressed.
I should not have worried as the home has exceeded my expectations. The staff genuinely care and are interested in resident's well being.
I go home now with no
worries and in fact, I believe my father is happier in the care home than the previous set up we had.
Thank you so much.

I can only but highly recommend this care home. The staff are friendly, compassionate and go out of their way to help residents and their family. The home itself is kept to the highest standard, the bedrooms and shared space are excellent and the many activities provided for the relatives keep them
busy, occupied and stimulated. My relative has no complaints about the food and tea is provided between meals.
I must congratulate the manager for her leadership and vision to make such a positive experience for the residents.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.651)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.651) out of 10 for Orchard Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.851 for Orchard Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (122 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.851
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Orchard Lodge Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
