My relative has been in Orchard Lodge since June '23. She was then 99 years of age and very unsettled and disorientated initially. Every effort was made by the staff to help her settle in. I am aware that she needed, and still needs, a great deal of patience, especially when having her personal needs
attended to. I am grateful that this team remain consistently compassionate despite the many challenges. I notice my relative is always clean with fresh clothes. The very friendly nurses always keep me fully informed so I could not be happier with the overall service.

I had respite care. No welcome (guide), just taken to room. No info on mealtimes, activity times, how to get help, etc. Missed 1 1/2 days meds, had UTI, specimen testing offered, not followed up, despite asking. Daughter had to get antibiotics from GP. Lack of phone service shocking. I like to contact
friends, unable to call out or receive calls. Felt totally cut off. Unacceptable, when paying 1000 pounds/week. Meals average. Breakfast porridge. Never any fresh fruit. Asked for some and got tinned orange segments. Dinner hit and miss. Steak pie unrecognisable, hard pork chops. (A lady at my table couldn't cut the pork chop/ not helped by any staff member.) I am very sociable. Not much stimulation there. Found out on day 10 about activity sheet. Have to pick up at office. With my immobility, not feasible. On hot night, I asked for cold water. Told none available. No jugs in room, no ice. Never got any water. That night staff person didn't have a caring bone in her body.
Reply from Jane Bell, Home Manager at Madelayne Court NI

We would like to clarify some points, as they do not reflect our records or the standards we provide. On admission, residents are warmly welcomed, shown to their room, and supported with information. Medication charts confirm all prescribed doses were given correctly. When a UTI concern was raised, staff followed protocol and escalated to the GP; while the prescription was initially declined by the GP due to catchment, staff and family worked together until it was issued and collected. Nutrition is supported with varied menus, fresh fruit, snacks, alternatives on request. We offer discreet mealtime support while prompting independence. Fresh water and drinks are always available. Activities are offered daily, with participation optional, and records show the resident joined several times. Our team is caring and compassionate, as reflected in feedback and inspections. We are sorry this was not the experience felt and remain committed to providing high-quality, supportive care.

Dad also has problems swallowing food
but while he was in the home he was able to eat everything NG they gave him. Amazing home and amazing people.

My mother spent the last 8 months of her life in Carlisle Court. She suffered from dementia which became progressively worse. During this time the staff of Carlisle Court supported her and the hole family. The level of professionalism, commitment, compassion and love showed by the staff, never ceased
to amaze me.
This was not just to my mother but to all the residents.
When our mother died recently the staff were there for us and supported us.
I can not express our thanks enough.

THANK YOU

I can't thank the team at Carlisle Court Care Home enough for the incredible care they gave my mum. From the moment she arrived, we were made to feel welcome and supported. The staff are truly fantastic-compassionate, attentive, and always going above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable and
well looked after.
The management team is outstanding, always approachable and clearly passionate about creating a safe and caring environment. The home itself is spotlessly clean, warm, and inviting, with a genuinely friendly atmosphere that made such a difference to my mum's well-being.
It gave us great peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. Carlisle Court isn't just a care home-it's a community. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent, compassionate care for their loved ones.

My mother-in-law, like all the residents, is always scrupulously clean, tidy & well cared for - clothes, hair, nails and skin are all looked after to a good standard. The staff are considerate, caring & patient. The management runs a well-maintained home with a positive atmosphere and a good range of
activities. But there are not enough staff. An extra person on each floor would transform the care to an even higher level, giving them more individual time with vulnerable residents.

Care staff do their job to the best of their ability but a lot is expected of them and it takes only one to be off sick to put a lot of extra work on the rest. Agency staff are deployed but don't always know the residents or their needs. The food is excellent but again not enough staff to assist those
who needs help eating and dinner is cold then.

something they haven't done in a long time. As a family, we are extremely grateful to all the staff.

The care my sister has received in Weaver's House is outstanding. The staff are caring and considerate and always available to help or answer any concerns. The facilities are first class and my sister is very happy there. Her room is spacious and comfortable and having her own en suite bathroom is such
an added bonus to have such privacy. The dining room is spacious and welcoming. The programme of activities is varied and interesting and the service users appear cheerful and content. I would highly recommend Weavers House to anyone and they are very deserving of any nominations or awards.

My relative was treated with dignity and respect from the moment he became a permanent resident in Weavers House. The staff were very dedicated to care provision and in the latter stages the care he received was second to none. The fact he was able to remain in the home and not have to go to hospital
was a huge relief to us as a family. Any changes in condition were relayed to us in a timely fashion and we were involved in all decisions. If I could move this home and the staff to where I live we would have done so, we had an opportunity to move my father-in-law closer to home but we decided not to due to standard of care.
