I had respite care. No welcome (guide), just taken to room. No info on mealtimes, activity times, how to get help, etc. Missed 1 1/2 days meds, had UTI, specimen testing offered, not followed up, despite asking. Daughter had to get antibiotics from GP. Lack of phone service shocking. I like to contact
friends, unable to call out or receive calls. Felt totally cut off. Unacceptable, when paying 1000 pounds/week. Meals average. Breakfast porridge. Never any fresh fruit. Asked for some and got tinned orange segments. Dinner hit and miss. Steak pie unrecognisable, hard pork chops. (A lady at my table couldn't cut the pork chop/ not helped by any staff member.) I am very sociable. Not much stimulation there. Found out on day 10 about activity sheet. Have to pick up at office. With my immobility, not feasible. On hot night, I asked for cold water. Told none available. No jugs in room, no ice. Never got any water. That night staff person didn't have a caring bone in her body.

We would like to clarify some points, as they do not reflect our records or the standards we provide. On admission, residents are warmly welcomed, shown to their room, and supported with information. Medication charts confirm all prescribed doses were given correctly. When a UTI concern was raised, staff followed protocol and escalated to the GP; while the prescription was initially declined by the GP due to catchment, staff and family worked together until it was issued and collected. Nutrition is supported with varied menus, fresh fruit, snacks, alternatives on request. We offer discreet mealtime support while prompting independence. Fresh water and drinks are always available. Activities are offered daily, with participation optional, and records show the resident joined several times. Our team is caring and compassionate, as reflected in feedback and inspections. We are sorry this was not the experience felt and remain committed to providing high-quality, supportive care.

The lack of coverage for phones and internet is shocking. We are cut off from our usual daily contact. Mum would have been in contact daily via email, video calls, apps etc. all seems to be gone. Not too much to ask for given the weekly rates.
The staff are really lovely on the whole. Younger ones
may need more training from what I have heard from Mum.

My granny is a resident and she is very happy here. The manager is really helpful and approachable. The staff are very friendly. The room is nice and spacious and always very clean. My granny loves the crafts and painting activities and is always well entertained. She loves the wee dog that comes in
on Wednesdays.

I am extremely happy with the level of service mum receives. She is so happy, and the staff are so kind and caring to mum, so much so that she is content when I can't visit. She says she feels at home with the staff. Overall the service, standards etc are first class, staff are the greatest asset.

This home is very friendly to my wife and family. All staff makes sure that we are welcome as long as you follow rules I do my hands before I leave my car and take my mask with me. I do my test at home before I leave home and show it if asked for. I would recommend this home to everybody.

The standard of care from carer’s, nurses and even domestic assistants on the dementia unit is excellent.
Mum has been a resident there for almost 2 years and I am very thankful for the way she has been cared for.

During COVID the staff were very good at keeping residents safe and were always very flexible in facilitating pod visitations which meant a lot to relatives and friends. Staff are always helpful and friendly which is an asset to the business and a help for relatives and friends.

This review applies mostly to the residential floor and I have little experience of the other floors. The staff are friendly and there is a very low turnover. They take the greatest care of the residents and are concerned for their welfare. I am always kept up to date with any problems, which are very
few, and these are dealt with quickly. If I have any queries these are answered. Of course, I can't ignore Covid, and during this time the staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that their residents have been cared for.

Despite the lockdowns and restrictions for visiting staff have been excellent at keeping us in touch with how my mother is healthwise and letting us see and talk to her using Facetime etc. Under very difficult conditions, they are doing a fantastic job.

Lockdown has been very difficult for residents, their families and staff. My father tested positive for Covid19 and became very poorly. The staff were incredible caring for my father and trying to keep his spirits up when I couldn't visit. My father is a little improved now, however, when he forgot
how to use his phone a member of staff took the time to teach him how to use it again so that we can be in touch. Such kindness has been really appreciated by me and our family.

Difficult times for users, their families, and staff. Mum is in great spirits and I can only put that down to the level of care and attention given by the staff, and the management. Roll on getting our days in, and out, with mum but till then, keep up the good work Madelayne Court NI.

Last week my husband and I (who live in England) visited my mother in Madelayne Court. We found all staff friendly, helpful and pleasant.
I did not realise that wheelchair taxis had to be booked in advance by the family, and the management went to some trouble to telephone and book a taxi on our behalf.
The maintenance man was very helpful in discussing the repair of my mother's private wheelchair.
During the Annual Review, the attending nurse was supportive and pleasant.
And I particularly liked the visitors' toilet - welcoming with perfume, hand cream, flowers and pictures.

My mother was admitted to this home in April. This was a very distressing time for my sister and myself but the transition went smoothly due to the input from the team members in Madelayne Court. On entering the home you notice immediately the warm, caring environment and plenty of interaction taking
place between staff and residents.

My sister and I expect a high standard of care for our mother. My mother is very well cared for. Thank you to all.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff including the kitchen staff. For the love, care and attention that my mum received during her time there. Unfortunately, mum passed away on the 7th January 2017.
We can honestly say that every one of the staff who looked after her gave
110%. Even at the very end your love and care were not only for her but us as well.

We can not praise Madelayne Court enough.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.120)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.120) out of 10 for Madelayne Court NI is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.328 for Madelayne Court NI is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.328
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.792 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Madelayne Court NI is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 48 registered maximum number of service users is 9.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.6 = 0.417
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
