The palliative care given at the end of her life to Mum and also to my brother and me was incredible. We were in the care home almost 24 hours a day in mums last week and every single member of staff was exceptional in their care and kindness, not only to Mum and us, but to every single resident. We will never be able to thank you all enough
My Dad and Mum were resident here since 2021/22. My Mum continues as a resident, both had complex needs. Family have found the interest shown by care and nursing staff and management very reassuring. Care staff, including nursing staff, very forward in making my Mum comfortable and negotiating when she is distressed due to dementia. Communication is very good and we always feel welcome when visiting. Keen input to activities to suit all abilities. The home itself is very tidy and clean. Well done all.
Our mother's life and care needs have changed dramatically in recent months. This has been distressing for her and for the family. The care team in the Nightingale Care Centre have been amazing, offering hope, support and a caring, safe environment, as we navigate a difficult path. We have been overwhelmed by the compassion, kindness and care from all the team. They have taken time to learn about mum and understand her individual needs. Their patience and authentic desire to do what is best for her has been outstanding.
My Dad was in Ben Madigan for a short time before he passed away peacefully in their wonderful care. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and my Dad was treated with respect and compassion. He had a lovely bright room and the nursing care was excellent. As a family we were also looked after in his final day's by the staff with the offer of a hot drink or a kind word. A lovely bright care home with a lovely kind and caring atmosphere am glad got to spend his final day's in their care.
My grandmother has been at this care home for roughly a month or so. Since she arrived we have all been extremely satisfied with the care home. My grandmother's general health has improved noticeably, from better physical health to a better memory (far less "bad" days) which proves to me that the staff are taking care of her and other residents well. She's also made friends with some of the other residents who are mostly a pleasant bunch.
The staff are all very friendly to both us and the residents. Even when some residents are clearly in distress/pain/confusion the staff are extremely patient and calm. I do believe they genuinely care for the residents.
The care home itself is evidently clean and feels far more homely than the one she was in previously. My grandmother even had a choice of rooms. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and well kept. Public rooms such as the dining rooms and day room are bright, clean and (on colder days) well heated. My granny also compliments the food.
Thank you so much for the lovely feedback. It's a pleasure caring for your Grandmother and we're delighted to have her. Thanks, Healthcare Ireland
My dad is in for a weeks respite for my mum who's his full time carer. When she arrived to visit him at lunch time today, he was still in bed, soaking wet as his convene hasn't been changed, breakfast and medication beside him on a table (which no one has ensured he's taken) and he's bleeding from his penis which has never occurred at home. When mum raised this with the person in charge they were apologetic but the care assistants were making the excuse that they are short staffed. This is not acceptable. These places cannot be taking people in and getting paid and not taking care of them in a humane way. The man still hadn't eaten an hour after my mum arrived as no food was provided. This is supposed to be time to give my mum a break and now she's taking him home. Absolute disgrace!
Thank you for your feedback. Our understanding is that this has been reported to the Home Manager and the Trust, and is now under investigation. Please be assured we take any concerns raised seriously and any issues found during investigation will be addressed as required. Once an outcome is available, we will ensure to provide you with this. Thanks, Healthcare Ireland
I visit the care home as often as possible, and I never fail to be amazed at the wonderful and kind communication skills of the staff, from the management down to the carers. The staff are so genuinely caring and extremely patient, and it always makes a big impression on me. It is a pleasure to visit this care home and to see the residents living home from home. The residents are all very relaxed and very happy, and it is clear that they are settled there and consider it their home. All this is possible due to the love and kindness which is given by the staff across the board. When visiting, I clearly see that the Residents are happy, mingling, chatting, and enjoying their day with the carers and staff in the background helping as and when needed. I always leave there feeling very impressed with what I see. A big thumbs up to the management and all the staff who make this a very special place for the residents.
Thanks you to all at Cairnmartin and best wishes.
I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for the outstanding care my grandmother received at Railway Lodge. The staff were absolutely brilliant, providing attentive, compassionate, and professional care at all times. Always welcomed our family with a smile on their faces. The home has a very positive atmosphere, where everyone- from the caregivers to the management team- exudes warmth and friendliness. My grandmother always felt valued and well-cared for, and it gave our family immense peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. The dedication and kindness of the staff made a significant difference in her quality of life, and we are truly grateful for their exceptional service. Nurses always contacted us if there were any changes to Nanny. I highly recommend Railway Lodge Care Home to anyone seeking a caring and supportive environment for their loved ones.
Mum is filthy, covered in food and with food over her floor that remains from one meal to the next. She can’t use cutlery and uses her fingers to eat, but as her condition has gotten worse the staff haven’t kept up with the level of support she needs to eat. Food just turns to crumbs in her hands and then she’s left to sit in it.
My granny is really content in Rosemary Lodge Care Home any time me and my family visit her. She appears settled and enjoys the company within the home. We can tell the staff go above and beyond and are approachable with any issues or concerns.
This is the second time I have placed my husband into respite in Rosemary Lodge Care Home and both times I have felt content in the knowledge that he would be well looked after. I hope that when I next require respite care they will be available and if he ever requires permanent care they would be my number one choice.
The staff in the home looked after him well and were very supportive, even to me during my visits. I found the atmosphere very welcoming and friendly and was able to have a chat and laugh with the staff during my visits.
The final straw came when dad was wheeled to his room for our visit and he smelled bad! I checked him and found faeces on his fingers. Dad is not mobile so he must have done it in bed the night before, meaning he ate breakfast with dirty hands and also meaning that he was not checked or washed that morning. I obviously lodged a complaint and received an acknowledgment outlining complaint timescales. I've heard nothing more and their timescales have passed! That shows how much they care for residents. Dad is no longer there thankfully. Please do not put a loved one in there.
No stimulation either for the residents in the Alzheimer's/Dementia suite, all he does is sit was his comment. Totally disgusted.
We live in England so can't see Dad as often as we would like to. The staff have made our visits this week a lovely experience showing care and compassion and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for all your help this week, you are really appreciated.

My darling daughter spent the last 11 years of her incredible life in Dunlarg with the most remarkable and dedicated staff. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the dedication, love and most importantly friendship that you showed to her.
Thank you for your kind words, the staff were honoured to be part of your family. Take care and stay safe.
On behalf of my late husband and myself, we have always had complete confidence in the care of our elderly relative. She seems happy and comfortable. All members of staff are friendly and approachable. We realise they have had a very difficult season/year due to Covid, and we admire them all the more for this. Thank you Rosevale, we still appreciate you!
I am very pleased with the care my mother receives staff go out of their way with the care they provide.
Thank you for your feedback, we are glad that your mum receives good care.
Extremely disappointed at the lack of support provided for our mother. Discharged in car park with no warning and no support or advice of alternative services available. Would not recommend this care home to anyone.
In this instance, we are aware that there were challenges in respect of ensuring that the resident was safely discharged from the home. This wasn’t ideal and wasn’t what any of us would have wanted but we are satisfied that our...
