Castle Lodge Care Home

from Luke A (Grandson of Resident) published on 23 May 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My grandmother has been at this care home for roughly a month or so. Since she arrived we have all been extremely satisfied with the care home. My grandmother's general health has improved noticeably, from better physical health to a better memory (far less "bad" days) which proves to me that the staff
are taking care of her and other residents well. She's also made friends with some of the other residents who are mostly a pleasant bunch.

The staff are all very friendly to both us and the residents. Even when some residents are clearly in distress/pain/confusion the staff are extremely patient and calm. I do believe they genuinely care for the residents.

The care home itself is evidently clean and feels far more homely than the one she was in previously. My grandmother even had a choice of rooms. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and well kept. Public rooms such as the dining rooms and day room are bright, clean and (on colder days) well heated. My granny also compliments the food.

Reply from Sophie, Group HR Manager at Castle Lodge Care Home

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback. It's a pleasure caring for your Grandmother and we're delighted to have her. Thanks, Healthcare Ireland

I visit the care home as often as possible, and I never fail to be amazed at the wonderful and kind communication skills of the staff, from the management down to the carers. The staff are so genuinely caring and extremely patient, and it always makes a big impression on me. It is a pleasure to visit
this care home and to see the residents living home from home. The residents are all very relaxed and very happy, and it is clear that they are settled there and consider it their home. All this is possible due to the love and kindness which is given by the staff across the board. When visiting, I clearly see that the Residents are happy, mingling, chatting, and enjoying their day with the carers and staff in the background helping as and when needed. I always leave there feeling very impressed with what I see. A big thumbs up to the management and all the staff who make this a very special place for the residents.

This is the second time I have placed my husband into respite in Rosemary Lodge Care Home and both times I have felt content in the knowledge that he would be well looked after. I hope that when I next require respite care they will be available and if he ever requires permanent care they would be my
number one choice.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
When my father went into Braefield, I wasn't sure whether he would like it, but after a week or so, he was very happy. He was well looked after and treated well. He always enjoyed the chat with the staff and was always happy enjoying his time there (which was nearly three years until he passed away
in July 2022).
The staff in the home looked after him well and were very supportive, even to me during my visits. I found the atmosphere very welcoming and friendly and was able to have a chat and laugh with the staff during my visits.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum was transferred to Bradley Manor after surviving Covid-19 and I must say that even though we haven't been able to visit that the communication from the nursing staff and manager have been both compassionate and comforting. It is obvious that this home is well run with strong leadership. It is
a purpose-built facility to help and support people who may be frightened or confused. But after talking to my mum she appeared very happy with her care. Thank you Bradley Manor for helping my family through this terrible crisis. The manager went out of her way to help reassure us.
Reply from Karen Fleming, HR / Business Manager at Bradley Manor

I visit my mum at the home every other day and have always found the staff doing their jobs. The staff are all very professional and always have time for a chat about my mum. I have always found it to be very clean both in the bedrooms and public areas. The staff keep good records which we can see at
any time. All the residents appear happy and content. Good activities for anyone who wishes to participate.

Mum is well looked after, happy, clean and enjoys the company. The activities she takes part in she looks forward to. Since arriving all her medical problems have been sorted very well. Lovely staff and very clean rooms. Mum has settled well after a very rocky start. Top marks for all the care and attention

My mother was in the late stages of dementia, she had to transfer to Ben Madigan for palliative care. The whole transfer was completed with the least amount of distress to my mother. The staff were welcoming and supportive of her and her family. There was great compassion and the highest level of care.
My mother was treated with dignity.

My granny has been at Castle Lodge for over 6 months now and she is very well settled. She has made some lovely friends who keep her company. The staff are always checking on her and making her laugh. They have all taken the time to get to know her. We are always made to feel welcome and can visit any
time. The unit is secure and clean. There are always lots of activities for the residents and my children like to play in the garden when we visit. We know my granny is safe and well looked after. Thank you to all the staff.

Dad is a real home bird, my mum has been caring for him at home, she is all he knows. We were all nervous about him going into respite but from the minute we stepped into Braefield it felt like home. Dad was always in good form when we went to see him, extremely well looked after. The staff are amazing,
go out of their way to make him comfortable. Nothing was ever too much. He even cried when we were bringing him home.
