Ideally situated, just 15 minutes drive from Belfast and set in the heart of an already established residential community, Glenabbey Manor is a friendly and welcoming care home with provision for up to 76 residents.

As a modern retirement facility, Glenabbey Manor has been purpose-built to meet the needs of older people, offering an exceptionally high standard of interior decoration and accessibility.

Glenabbey Manor provides a full spectrum of care options for residents, ranging from social care to more complex nursing needs, as well as specialist provision for those living with dementia. Residents are able to enjoy as much of an independent lifestyle as possible, with staff always on hand to provide support with individuals' daily care needs.

Accommodation at Glenabbey is both spacious and comfortable, with each attractive and individually decorated bedroom furnished to a high standard, as well as including a flat screen television and an ensuite shower room.

Superb views from Glenabbey extend towards Cavehill, Belfast, Lough and the County Down coastline. Residents enjoy a choice of separate social lounges and dining rooms - all of which maintain the same level of quality and comfort as the rest of the building.

My mother-in-law has been in Glenabbey Manor since August 2024 and we have been more than happy with the level of care and attention she has received. Everyone works very hard but always has time to chat and is always helpful and friendly. The home itself is bright, airy and spotless.

Poor ratio of care staff. In the evening it could be there were no staff around.
My mother didn't receive enough care, for example cleaning her teeth and making sure she drank enough liquids resulting in the family having to check these basics. My mother eventually fell and had to leave after the
fall, surgery. Wasn't able to go back. No follow-up or concern was shown by the staff.
It's a beautiful building, with great views. Felt it lacked great care, which is fundamental.

Mum has been living at Glenabbey Manor for only a few months but I have been so impressed with our experience so far. Despite being extremely anxious at the move to residential care, the wonderful staff knew exactly how to reassure both Mum and myself and helped her settle in better than I could have
anticipated. She is happier now than she has been in years and I no longer have the fear and worry for Mum's safety that was constant when she was living alone. I can't praise Glanabbey Manor staff enough.

We as a family could not be happier with Glenabbey. Our mother was a resident in this facility for over six months. There is a lovely busy atmosphere when you enter. The staff work extremely hard. The staff and management team have kept us informed of everything and also feedback on everything you need
to know. The food looks and smells delicious but most striking is the cleanliness of Glenabbey. It is a modern unit and it is spotless. We have visited at all times, day and night and it is always immaculate but the real stars are management and staff.

I visit the home with a team from my church to lead a service of worship. The management have been really helpful in facilitating this and I've been really impressed by the way that all the staff relate to the residents and also the number of activities organised by the wellbeing coordinator. Talking
to the residents I haven't heard a complaint about the place and all the residents seem happy and content here. Having visited parishioners in their rooms, they are all really spacious and the lounges create a sense of community on each floor.

I was worried when my mother had to go into a nursing home, you hear stories. I am so glad she is in Glenabbey, they are brilliant. They speak to every resident by name every time they pass. All staff do this. They are all approachable and have never not had time to listen.
My mother was unsettled
one evening and they phoned me straight away. I was able to talk to her and settle her. They didn't hesitate, which I liked. The care given is second only to a hotel. The rooms are clean, washing done daily. The choice of menus and quality of food is impressive.
My mother is so contented that she often doesn't want to come out with me. There is always something happening and if a resident has a preference to do something, the staff go above and beyond to make it possible. Because of this, I can rest in the knowledge that my mother is in the best place possible and the care given is outstanding.

Our main concern is staffing levels. Glenabbey is a lovely home but because of staffing levels, things have gone downhill, especially the cleanliness of the home. The full-time staff are pushed to the max and as far as agency goes, most of them need to be taken by the hand which means not much help.
You have very good staff, who are committed to the residents. I know managers' hands are tied, there is only so much they can do. This I know, I worked in care homes for many years. Staff are overworked and underpaid.
