I had respite care. No welcome (guide), just taken to room. No info on mealtimes, activity times, how to get help, etc. Missed 1 1/2 days meds, had UTI, specimen testing offered, not followed up, despite asking. Daughter had to get antibiotics from GP. Lack of phone service shocking. I like to contact
friends, unable to call out or receive calls. Felt totally cut off. Unacceptable, when paying 1000 pounds/week. Meals average. Breakfast porridge. Never any fresh fruit. Asked for some and got tinned orange segments. Dinner hit and miss. Steak pie unrecognisable, hard pork chops. (A lady at my table couldn't cut the pork chop/ not helped by any staff member.) I am very sociable. Not much stimulation there. Found out on day 10 about activity sheet. Have to pick up at office. With my immobility, not feasible. On hot night, I asked for cold water. Told none available. No jugs in room, no ice. Never got any water. That night staff person didn't have a caring bone in her body.

We would like to clarify some points, as they do not reflect our records or the standards we provide. On admission, residents are warmly welcomed, shown to their room, and supported with information. Medication charts confirm all prescribed doses were given correctly. When a UTI concern was raised, staff followed protocol and escalated to the GP; while the prescription was initially declined by the GP due to catchment, staff and family worked together until it was issued and collected. Nutrition is supported with varied menus, fresh fruit, snacks, alternatives on request. We offer discreet mealtime support while prompting independence. Fresh water and drinks are always available. Activities are offered daily, with participation optional, and records show the resident joined several times. Our team is caring and compassionate, as reflected in feedback and inspections. We are sorry this was not the experience felt and remain committed to providing high-quality, supportive care.

Mum has been a resident in Magherafelt Manor for almost 5 years and their care has been so dedicated. The staff have all been very good in their care of Mum, but 2 members, in particular, have been involved in Mum's care from her first day and they are exceptional individuals. They know her so well
- when she is not herself, when she needs extra pain relief, when she needs a wee lie down or a cup of tea, and they have looked after her through those difficult days when she has been agitated and needing reassurance.
When people come to visit Mum they comment on how clean the home is, and how attractive the surroundings and rooms are, as well as the friendly staff. We are very glad that we got Mum a place here, and as Mum's condition changes it is comforting to know that they have her best interests in their planning.

What an amazing home-from-home this place is. Patients are well cared for by genuine caring staff who put the resident's needs first. Clean and friendly environment with activities daily. Wouldn't want my loved one to be placed anywhere else. Not an easy decision to place your loved one in care but
Magherafelt Manor gives you peace of mind knowing your loved one is being cared for properly with high standards.

A very high standard of care, friendly staff, never an easy process when an elderly person gets admitted to a care home but Magherafelt Manor made it straightforward and effortless, it's been a pleasure to deal with them.

The lack of coverage for phones and internet is shocking. We are cut off from our usual daily contact. Mum would have been in contact daily via email, video calls, apps etc. all seems to be gone. Not too much to ask for given the weekly rates.
The staff are really lovely on the whole. Younger ones
may need more training from what I have heard from Mum.

My dad has been a resident since May 23 and we've all been so happy with his care to date. Dad is well cared for and we're regularly kept up to date with any changes. The senior care assistants have especially been excellent at their jobs and we feel that the staff often go above and beyond to provide
an excellent level of care for Dad.

Staff are always in contact by telephone if any issues or concerns with the resident. Staff are courteous and it is obvious they have a good rapport with the client as there is a positive response when they speak to them. Reception staff are also friendly.

My mother spent over four years in a residential unit of this care home, prior to transferring to a Nursing Unit nearly three years ago. I had been very pleased with the care she received in the residential unit so I was relieved to hear that there was a nursing place available in the same care home
when she required it.
I do not live locally, so I'm not able to visit frequently. I am pleased that the staff go out of their way to assist my mother when I make regular video calls and provide updates on her condition by telephone. When we visit, we are always welcomed in a friendly manner and it's lovely to see the compassionate way the staff speak to and look after my mother.

My relative has been in Magherafelt Manor since July 2022. She has been well cared for throughout this time and is clearly happy and content. She has nothing but praise for her treatment and the staff.
Her happiness and well-being has enabled me to relax and has taken an enormous burden of worry from
me.
Staff are vigilant and have kept me fully informed when health concerns have arisen.
I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Magherafelt Manor to anyone looking for high-quality, compassionate care for a loved one.

My mum initially arrived in the residential floor for respite care (mid stages of Alzheimer's). When she got home she herself asked to return to the home permanently. Part of it is that she feels safe, but also at home, she was sitting in front of the TV daily with no social interaction. Now she is
living a new life full of activities every single day (crafts, singing, dancing, baking, gardening club, drawing, 1 to 1 chats, trips out with staff). It is a fulfilling life again. We love that we could make her room her own, we have brought chairs from home, favourite ornaments, pictures, her own duvet covers. There are visits from the chiropodist, dentist, optometrist and hairdresser. The staff are obviously professional carers, just amazing and always engaging with us and Mum.
Moving a loved one into a care home is a difficult emotive decision for any family to make but we have found it such a positive experience. I would certainly recommend Magherafelt Manor to any family in crisis.

Mum has been a resident at the Manor for nearly three years now.
She is very content and enjoys a good standard of care for her overall health and general well-being.
The manager is extremely attentive and responsive and is an excellent manager.
The staff member in the front office projects sincere
values of warmth and welcome.
Post-COVID restrictions, the activities staff have planned and delivered an ongoing entertainment schedule, which is diverse and rewarding.

My father, prior to living at Magherafelt Manor, was reclusive and not willing to participate in activities. He is now enjoying life to the full, being looked after by the wonderful caring staff. He looks so smart and well-turned out when we visit. Seeing him so happy with people of his own age makes
us as a family feel better. Such a wonderful place. Thank you for looking after him for us.
