Care staff do their job to the best of their ability but a lot is expected of them and it takes only one to be off sick to put a lot of extra work on the rest. Agency staff are deployed but don't always know the residents or their needs. The food is excellent but again not enough staff to assist those
who needs help eating and dinner is cold then.

When my parent first arrived at the home, the staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful this immediately put us as a family at ease. My parent was very difficult to deal with at the start, but the staff perservered and after 3 weeks they were settled and joining in the activities and socialising,
something they haven't done in a long time. As a family, we are extremely grateful to all the staff.

From our very first visit myself and my family have been struck by the professionalism and kindness of the staff shown to my mother. In particular, the approachability of the management and engagement in relation to her needs has been comforting and reassuring to us.
The overall level of care displayed
by the whole team makes us feel very confident that my mothers needs are being fully met.
I feel that mum is fully supported by a circle of kindness, care and love, we have gained a family in Carrickfergus Manor.

Dad has been residing at Carrickfergus manor for approximately 18 months. He settled very quickly with the help & diligence from staff. Lots of activities take place daily. Rooms are very spacious each with an en-suite and are cleaned daily. Food is excellent menu changes regularly. Any little issues
are dealt with promptly. Would recommend this home for your loved ones with dementia.

Carlisle court is beautiful too look at but is not fit for purpose, there should be more money spent on staff who are qualified and care instead of furniture and decor..could not and would not ever recommend this service to anyone, was never so glad to get my father out of it.

This care home is 5 star. As a family, we were very nervous as we had never had a family member placed into residential care before. The staff are so welcoming and engaged. You are always fully filled in of any instances or situations that may arise straight away. The staff's compassion towards residents
shines through everyday and the care given is second to none. From the care assistants, care team leads and senior management everyone is polite, proactive and positive at all times.

My mother-in-law has been in Glenabbey Manor since August 2024 and we have been more than happy with the level of care and attention she has received. Everyone works very hard but always has time to chat and is always helpful and friendly. The home itself is bright, airy and spotless.

Very pleased with the care Dad is receiving, the staff are very pleasant and helpful. Hard job working with so many patients with dementia. The food is very good. Nothing too much trouble for them to do.

Mum has come on so well, she was moved from another home to Carrickfergus Manor. Her mobility has improved greatly and she's able to walk herself with the help of her rolator, always plenty of activities going on and she's enjoying everything.

I have visited three people on many occasions over the last several months. Each time, I have been made very welcome by every member of staff. Whenever I had any queries/questions for staff they were always dealt with quickly. I cannot praise and thank the staff enough, as they always showed love, care
and compassion for everyone. The lady who is manager was always willing to help in anyway possible, with a welcoming smile.

My father was a resident in Carrickfergus Manor for just over 1 year. We were very happy with the care and attention that he received. The staff were very kind and spent a lot of time chatting to him and learning about him. They kept us clearly informed and seemed to be very fond of our dad. He enjoyed
their company and their laughs and jokes. I have recommended Carrickfergus Manor to other people based on our experience. Thank you so much for all you did for our father, we appreciate that very much.

My husband has lewey body, frontotemperal and Alzheimer's dementia and has been in Carrickfergus Manor since October 2023 to date. I have at all times felt a genuine lovely, caring attitude with staff - towards my husband and empathy for visitors. They are consistent and not high staff turnover. My
father in law was here six years and many still remember us and him to this day. When my husband was in hospital, carers phoned us to check on him and worked miracles to help him walk again. I have volunteered in care homes and visited a lot but never seen activities and music like Carrickfergus Manor - amazing.

Carrickfergus Manor

from Grainne M (Niece of Resident) published on 22 October 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

Over the years Carrickfergus Manor has welcomed 3 aunts, 1 uncle and 1 sister in law into their care. The staff treat the residents with dignity, respect and compassion. On any given day when you pay a visit to Carrickfergus Manor you will find that the staff are engaging with the residents and there
are always activities going on for them such as painting, singing and looking after the garden. There are regular gatherings in the big room when entertainment is organised with a local musician and the residents are singing along and in some cases having a wee dance. There have also been other days during the summer when they have been gathered together to enjoy a milk shake or ice cream. All in all my respect for the staff and facilities at Carrickfergus Manor is second to none.

My uncle was in Carrickfergus Manor for 10 months and received nothing but the most excellent care the whole time. He was recently in hospital and on his discharge required a placement in the nursing part of the home. There were no beds immediately available, but the staff pulled out all the stops to
get a room for him. All of the staff from the manager to laundry support we're excellent. One of the laundry workers even visited my uncle in hospital - a round journey of over 50 miles. Well done Carrickfergus Manor.

Glenabbey Manor

from Catherine N (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 August 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5

Poor ratio of care staff. In the evening it could be there were no staff around.
My mother didn't receive enough care, for example cleaning her teeth and making sure she drank enough liquids resulting in the family having to check these basics. My mother eventually fell and had to leave after the
fall, surgery. Wasn't able to go back. No follow-up or concern was shown by the staff.
It's a beautiful building, with great views. Felt it lacked great care, which is fundamental.

I visit Carrickfergus Manor twice a week. In my opinion, a few of the care staff could do with retraining. This applies only to the nursing floor (upstairs). The nurses are excellent and they are an asset to the nursing home.

Granny is well looked after in the home. She is always dressed well with her room being tidy. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. They treat my granny like family, that is a big reassurance for us. I am extremely impressed with the range of activities and themed events organised by Wellbeing
which my granny gets involved in. Another resident is given tasks from reception which she enjoys and keeps her engaged in meaningful activity. My granny has settled in well and now enjoys spending time socialising in the common room.
