My wife had placement for after a hospital stay and we found the place to provide excellent care and service with the staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble, very clean and tidy. Residents are offered activities to participate in should they feel they want to join in but under no pressure
to to so.

The staff in the home are excellent, could not do enough for you. The group management in England is very poor. No time for you, poor quality in the home, maintenance poor, treated unfairly.

Great home. Staff work so hard and always very pleasant. They seem to be very busy all the time when I am there on a visit and short, seems to be a shortage of staff.

My mum has been in Abbey View for one and a half years now and the care and attention she has received has been brilliant. The staff are very attentive to her needs and as a family, we are delighted with the way she has settled in - we would highly recommend Abbey View.

My mum has been here from 22nd September 20201. During that time, the staff have been very attentive and kind. She has had visits from the doctor any time she has needed treatment. The staff are all very caring and friendly. The room she stays in is very nice and kept very clean. I would highly recommend.

Sadly my mum passed away recently however I just want to recognise the care she received during her two and a half years in Abbey View. Covid brought sadness that we were separated for a time but Abbey View did their very best to get us all through. I was reassured that mum was being looked after by
such hard-working staff who do their best for the comfort and wellbeing of the residents. I was kept up to date at all times and any concerns I had were dealt with quickly. The staff are friendly and approachable and the home has a family feel to it. I am thankful that mum was able to spend her last years in such a caring environment.

Mum went into Abbey View in October 2018 following a prolonged period in hospital. She was still in poor health with the result that her dementia had deteriorated considerably. This was a distressing time for our family. However, following the care and attention she has received from the staff at Abbey
View mum's health has now much improved and it has been wonderful for our family to see her contented and smiling again.

My father was in the home for respite care after a hip operation. He was treated very well and was happy with all the carers who attended to him.
The home was welcoming as were the staff and very helpful when asked.
The home could do with some redecoration but this is cosmetic. Overall, a good atmosphere.

Abbey View Nursing Home was recommended to me by my aunt's church friends. When my cousin and I visited the home, we were very pleased with the reception the staff gave us and they also gave us a tour of the home and again we were very pleased with everything.
When my aunt took up residency in Abbey
View she settled in immediately and feels so much at home there. This was such a relief to the family - she only has nephews and nieces, (who all live quite a distance from Bangor) as she had no family herself.
My aunt enjoys the activities and also the day trips out in the minibus.
So far we have found all the staff very obliging and helpful and they are all very caring with my aunt.

If you are looking for a friendly 'home from home' then this is the place for your loved one. My Mom has been in this Nursing Home for a year and I cannot put into words how good everything is. You only need to ask and nothing is too much trouble, every need is catered for and this is the first time
I feel my Mom is safe and being looked after. If I could give a plus I would!

My mum was resident in Abbey View from May 2018 until her death in December 2018. She settled very quickly and in my family's view this was because all the staff provide, not only an exceptionally caring, but a very loving environment. We visited a lot of homes prior to selecting Abbey View but the
initial instant impact of the happy, caring environment never diminished. My mum wanted for nothing. Any illness was immediately identified and dealt with. Our mum was made to feel loved, cared for, special and important until the end. The manager and his staff work at the highest level and treat residents as if they are their own. We were devastated that our Mum could no longer cope at home and were stressed and extremely anxious about selecting the right place for her. If you are reading this before deciding where to place a loved one you can pick Abbey View knowing they will be in safe, and more importantly in exceptionally caring hands. We cannot recommend Abbey View enough.

As my mother has been here from December 2014 we are very happy with the care and attention she is shown. The staff are really good as they talk and spend time when speaking to her which has encouraged her to participate in activities and speaking to other people. My sister and I are very pleased with
the care she is given.

We visited a number of local care homes prior to deciding to choose Abbey View as the reception and tour plus the warmth of the staff's presence outshone the others visited. Over a year and a half has passed since then and my expectations have been more than met ie care to my wife, quality and cleanliness
or my wife's room and the rest of the home. All staff, from nursing to carers/catering staff are always pleasant and professional and informative of my wife's needs and proactive to her health needs.

The staff have always shown respect and treated my mother with kindness. They are aware of her needs and take these into consideration when dealing with and handling her. Some staff members go above and beyond to assist mother and encourage her. We as a family appreciate the fact we are kept up to date
on mother's condition and are involved in decision making regarding mother's care and well being.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.117)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.117) out of 10 for Abbey View Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Abbey View Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.2 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey View Nursing Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.2
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
