Mum was in the Hamilton Suite from 17/5/25. From the very start the staff very welcoming and caring. Mum settled very quickly after nearly 6 months in hospital and we credit that to the care she was given.
They kept us informed of any necessary information regarding mum and regular communication eg
phone calls from the nurse / chats when we visited kept us up to date with all that was going on.
We are very grateful for the care mum has received.

I have an Aunt Uncle in manor View. The staff are friendly and very caring. The food is so delicious. My Aunt came from hospital after a botched hip operation. When she moved to the Home it was classed as comfort care but the care and attention she has received is second to none. She has progressed
from puréed food (Level 4) to Level 7. My Uncle is enjoying the food too and very happy and settled. I am delighted they are in Manor View.

I am very happy with the care and attention given to my mother. The nursing staff are very good. My mother has been bed-ridden for over 4 years and during this time she has had great skincare and only one case of a pressure sore. I think this is exceptional. The home always contacts us regarding any
changes in her medication, habits or eating changes. My only negative comment is in relation to the decor, it is dated and while it is always kept clean, the home could benefit from a refresh. This is something the board should consider.

My husband has been in the transitional unit since 16/07/24 and is being treated with care and dignity by all the staff. He has a carer with him 24/7 and they are very respectful and treat him with dignity and care. The management are very involved with the residents and I have been kept up to date
with my husband's day-to-day situation. I can recommend this unit highly as dementia is so unpredictable and the staff do their job with love and care.

My dad who lives with dementia was transferred here from hospital for rehab.
The staff made him very welcome and took the time to explain everything to the family also. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the food was good too.
Everyone made his time there easier for him to settle.

This care home may be OK for ordinary care but I cannot recommend it for end-of-life care. It is understaffed, so much so that over a period of just over a week my mother needed to use a bedpan urgently and we were told they couldn't do anything until after they had served the breakfasts. Despite further
requests nothing was done for an hour on two occasions and an hour and a half on the third by which time my mother, aged 105, was trying to climb out of the bed.
End-of-life care should be staffed to make much more frequent checks. Staff visits were only made when they had some other task to do.
The GP prescribed liquid painkillers to be available when she could no longer swallow, despite them being available she was not given them when she needed them (12 hours) because the relevant information was not passed on to the nurse on night duty.
Whilst I am sure that the majority of staff were kind and caring the staffing levels and the necessary procedures were just not there.

My dad is a current resident of Bangor Care Home. He has dementia and finds verbal communication difficult these days. Myself and other family members visit regularly and have always found Dad to be clean, tidy, appropriately dressed and happy to see us. He appears to have a good relationship with the
nurses and care staff. No matter which member of staff we speak to, they all seem to be up to date with his current needs. Staff are always courteous, well-informed, pleasant to deal with and happy to help with any suggestions. As a family, we are very happy with the levels of care provided to Dad. The home environment is always clean and tidy, decor and the garden could benefit from updating and that is the only reason for four rather than five stars. No one wants to watch their relatives decline to the point of needing 24-hour specialist nursing care and we are very grateful to the current staff for their kindness, compassion and knowledgeable care in sometimes challenging circumstances.

My mother passed away recently in Bangor Care Home, and I wanted to say how much I appreciated the professionalism and compassion of the staff. The care and attention my Mum received in Bangor was remarkable. She couldn’t have have been in better hands. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the
workers at Bangor Care Home for the care and kindness they showed both me and my Mum. I’ll always be grateful for this. The final question in the questionnaire below asks about "value for money". I honestly don't know how you put a price on human care, and comfort, and dignity in old age. There is no market value or monetary measurement that can stand in for a care worker sitting by your Mum's bed, comforting her at the end of her life. It's as immeasurable as it is priceless. Thank you.

My dad loves this home, loves the staff and sitting in the cinema room. Everyone at the home is friendly and helpful. Every time I visit, I get offered a cup of tea and biscuit. My dad says he would not live anywhere else.

Definitely not the place it was when my mum first moved in there. Lack of staff. Lack of care. Lack of everything. A couple of members of staff appeared to care. Residents are approached put into a wheelchair and taken out of the room to the bathroom/ dining room or wherever without one word being spoken
to them. They are left a cup of tea on their table. That cup of tea is then collected 10 mins later. No help or encouragement is given. If they haven't drunk their tea. Tough. But that's about the height of it. Wouldn't and haven't recommended.

A friend of mine was a resident at this care home. During his stay, he always mentioned that he loved staying there. He said that the staff all catered to his needs and anything extra he needed they were always there to help. Anytime I was in the care home, it was always clean and had a positive atmosphere
and I was always offered a tea or coffee. My friend was always a big fan of films and the fact that the care home had a cinema room was a big bonus for him. I would recommend Bangor Care Home to anyone looking for a home for a friend or relative.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.563)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.563) out of 10 for Manor View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.483 for Manor View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (61 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 89 Ratings = 4.483
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.08 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Manor View Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 92 registered maximum number of service users is 18.4. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 18.4 = 0.38
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
