My husband had initially stayed at Langley for respite care, which went very well. Gradually his needs increased and he required full-time care. Luckily there was a bed and they knew him and he knew them, it worked really well. I was really pleased with his care and the help and support for me too.
I felt "at home" there too. I am so pleased with the care, kindness and support that Langley provided - I can't recommend Langley enough.

I have been really impressed with the staff, they are always so kind, caring and polite. The home itself is light, airy, spacious and clean.

The food is plentiful and there is always plenty of choice.

Nothing is too much trouble.

Thank you all very much.

In visiting Langley Oaks I find the manager, team leaders and carers kind and considerate to the residents. Most of my visits are unannounced and I find the level good care provided is very similar to a home away from home environment.

Having a member of your family with advanced dementia is very

sad but knowing the good level of care provided gives me a positive feeling when I visit and leave.

My mother was at Langley Oaks for just over 6 months. In that time she was very well cared for. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The staff were caring and took an interest in my mother, which made her feel cared for. The manager was extremely helpful in ensuring my mothers care was extended.
Relatives calling in found it often difficult to speak directly to my mother.

In the year 200 my wife had a major operation for an acoustic neuroma. The partly recovered and I have looked after her since then. In about 2010 she gradually deteriorated and eventually got dementia and in January 2015 I found that I just could not manage to look after her as she was wandering around
all night and in the daytime was trying to get out of the house. It was the hardest thing I had to do as we have been married for 64 years but with the help of my daughters we managed to get her in to Langley Oaks and her recovery has been amazing.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.179)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.179) out of 10 for Langley Oaks is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.829 for Langley Oaks is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.829
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Langley Oaks is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
