Areley House is a beautifully renovated Georgian manor house that provides a comfortable living environment for up to thirty-three residents who have dementia or personal care needs. All the rooms at the home are en-suite, in which residents are encouraged to add their own furniture and belongings. Staff are highly experienced in delivering the very best in elderly care and residents enjoy extensive one-to-one companionship as well as the choice of a range of group activities. My mother was a resident at Areley House for around 3 and a half years and sadly passed away at the end of February.
I can honestly say the kindness and care shown was second to none. In that time I was a regular visitor and could see the commitment to care and the dignity shown by all members of the
Areley House team.

I consider myself and my family to be lucky in that Areley House was chosen by my mother's social worker.
The atmosphere and overall ambience is excellent.
I have visited my mum as regularly as possible, but not at the same time, for the past few years. I have always found her to be in a clean, happy
condition. I have had many meals with my mum, although I have not eaten here but sat with her when she has enjoyed her meals. I am always impressed with the attitude of the competent and friendly staff. A wonderful safe haven in the fog of dementia.
I can not praise the place any higher.

My husband has been in Areley for over two years and is very happy there. We, his family, are always made welcome to visit, whatever time of day. His personal hygiene is good and his room spotless.
There are lots of patience and a good atmosphere among the staff.
I am very happy that he is contented
and I do not feel so guilty that he has had to go into care.

My dad is extremely happy at Areley House. The staff are friendly and look after him very well. They cannot do enough for dad and the family when we visit on a regular basis. The home is clean and warm (often too warm). And the food is excellent. His room ensuite is kept immaculate and the activities
and entertainment that is provided for the residents is first class, especially the singers, something dad really enjoys.
Overall I have no complaints and I would recommend Areley House to anybody.

Mum was admitted as emergency respite which was traumatic, but the manager, deputy and all staff made the process so much more reassuring than it could have been. I particularly like the "open office door" approach. The staff are quick to respond to any issues before they escalate.
Mum has settled
so much better than expected. My father was made welcome for visits which was particularly appreciated on Christmas day so they could be together. Visitors are always welcome and cups of tea offered. Having a choice of lounges and seating areas is good for mum, who likes to keep moving. The laundry staff are very efficient and thoughtful.

I am extremely happy with mum's care. She is quite a feisty character but the staff manage this very well. Mum is always dressed appropriately.

The most daunting thing for any daughter or son is to put an elderly parent into a care home. The management and staff at Areley house were so helpful, not only when dad first went there, but on every visit. Kind, considerate and caring.

Having only been a resident for a week I can only say my own opinion. Everyone seems very happy and content, except for the odd one. So all in all, I've had a very pleasant week and wish Areley House well.

My mother has been at Areley House for four and a half years and has been treated well over this time. She has deteriorated mentally and physically and the staff care has consequently increased in accordance. They endeavour to engage the residents in many activities and provide varied entertainment
on a regular basis. All the residents look clean and well cared for and there is no smell.

Mum was admitted as a matter of emergency last April as her dementia (Vascular and Alzheimer's) had made it impossible to continue to care for her at home. The staff were very reassuring and calming to make the transition into residential care as easy as possible. Mum is very happy and well cared for
with plenty of activities and lots of laughter. I have felt very supported to as it was very hard to admit I couldn't cope. The home has given mum a real new lease of life.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.395)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.395) out of 10 for Areley House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Areley House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.395 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Areley House Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.27
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
