I feel my Uncle is very well cared for at Gracefields Nursing home. The staff are all very friendly and alway polite and respectful.
Roy is always clean shaven and washed and changed every day, Roy loves his Tropical Fish and staff will feed them daily and turn the lights on and off for him. He
has a good choice of food daily.
The only negative is the furniture in his room needs fixing, door handles are broken on the wardrobe.

Dad lived at Gracefields for 6 years, reflecting the excellent standard of care delivered by a strong team of committed staff. During this time, whenever we had concerns we have been listened to and action taken to meet Dad's needs. Whilst the building and location is great, it is the staff that has
made Gracefields home for Dad. Cheerful and friendly, everyone makes time to connect. Dad enjoyed strong relationships with the staff and they took time to engage with Dad's interests during one to one. When Dad passed away, all the staff were amazing, and couldn't have done more to preserve his health, comfort and dignity. Thank you Gracefields.
Reply from Abigail Garrett-James, Home Manager at Gracefields Nursing HomeDear Sandra,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your kind review of our services. We truly appreciate your heartfelt words and the opportunity to care for your dad.
It was evident how much his love and passion for sing-alongs, as well as his enjoyment of pub meals and socialising with staff, meant to him. His character shone brightly through those moments, and it was a privilege for us to be part of his social interactions and daily life.
We are grateful for the support and openness from your family, which allowed us to get to know him better and understand his life story. This understanding enabled us to work in partnership with you to ensure his care was not only attentive but also meaningful, helping him enjoy optimal socialisation and meet his care and support needs.
Being entrusted with your loved one was truly a privilege, and we are grateful for your trust.

My grandmother was initially hesitant to move into a care facility, but she is now very comfortable in her new home. The staff and room is fantastic. She has found socialising with other residents to be an adjustment but she is now engaging with more activities. My grandmother is very happy and comfortable
at Gracefields.

This review covers my husband's admittance to Gracefield's dementia wing. He can be very difficult but the Gracefield's staff took on the challenge he presented, treating him with great kindness. The same staff also showed kindness + understanding to me as I was naturally concerned about him. They are
working steadfastly towards settling him in to the home.
Reply from Cosmin Nistor, Interim Home Manager at Gracefields Nursing HomeDear JB,
Thank you for your kind acknowledgment of our care and compassion. We have listened carefully to the challenges you are experiencing with your husband. With an empathetic heart, we are committed to supporting him and meeting his needs.
We strive to work closely with other multidisciplinary teams to ensure that his care is personalised and centered around him. Your review of our service and your partnership in this journey are greatly appreciated, as they help us to achieve the best possible outcomes for your husband.

Thank you once again.

My aunt has been a resident of Gracefields for 12 years. She was transferred from hospital with numerous health problems. Within weeks she was back on her feet and enjoying her life at the home. Staff have always looked after my aunt with caring attitudes. I have always felt she was well looked after
in a safe environment. My aunt had full mental capacity so she would have said if anything was not up to her standard and I felt very assured when she moved there. During her 12 years there she was always been well looked after, clean and her room kept very well. Staff are always friendly and professional. It was only through the care she received that she lived for 12 years.
Reply from Abigail Garrett-James, Home Manager at Gracefields Nursing HomeDear JP,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for giving us the privilege of caring for your aunt over the past 12 years at Gracefields. The staff have many fond memories of her and recall her with great warmth. As you rightly pointed out, she treasured her autonomy, and our team worked closely with her to develop a meaningful relationship built on respect and understanding.
She truly enjoyed her time with us, and much of her happiness was supported by the unwavering presence and support of her niece, who always stood by her side, providing for her needs and liaising closely with staff. Her life at Gracefields was filled with purpose and connection, and she left a lasting impression on everyone who cared for her.
Thank you once again for entrusting us with her care and for the meaningful memories you've helped create. It has been a great privilege to support your aunt and to work alongside you over these years

We highly recommend Gracefields. Staff are skilled and professional and kind and respectful, and have caring relationships with the residents. Food is varied, appetising and there is plenty of choice. Rooms and bathrooms are always clean, and laundry seems to come back to the right person. One to one
care and activities are good. Would highly recommend.

Great induction to the nursing home, good facilities, private room which are clean + ongoing maintenance visible. Could do with clocks in the room (with day/date) to allow residents to orientate themselves.

"We were lucky enough get Mum into Gracefields Carehome in Downend after moving her twice. We can't praise Mum's care & attention enough during her 3 years there. The garden space mustn't be underestimated. The care given at Gracefields wasn't just for the lady we knew and loved, but for the lady they
met with dementia. The care was professional and towards the end it became more gentle & considered, giving Mum the dignity she deserved. As a family, the support from the whole team was very much appreciated
and this made a very sad situation more bearable with their kindness, calm and professionalism".

My dad had been a resident at Gracefields since December 2022. Sadly he recently passed at the ripe old age of 98.
During his time at Gracefields, the whole team were so committed to providing the best possible care, and attending to his everyday needs, with so much kindness, understanding and respect.
I can't fault the way in which my Dad was looked after in his final years and for that, I will be forever truly grateful.

My father was a resident at Gracefields for 5 years until he recently passed away. Following a stroke, he was partially paralyzed and moved to Gracefields when he began to need full nursing care and assistance. The staff were very friendly and took excellent care of him throughout his stay, making sure
he was comfortable at all times and accommodating his personal requirements, preferences and requests. They would do their utmost to enable him to participate in activities for as long as he was well enough to do so. They were extremely vigilant of his medical care and needs and would contact us if there was any significant change in his condition. They were warm and welcoming to him and to us, his family, and made us all feel part of his life at Gracefields. Our thanks go to all the staff who do an outstanding job.

Mum and Dad both arrived at Gracefields Nursing Home in November 2022. I visited them the same day and was met by a friendly nurse whose words were "Don't worry, we will look after them." She kept her word, Mum was truly looked after by nurses and carers. Sadly, she passed away not long after. The care
and support that continues with Dad have been outstanding. All staff are very knowledgeable and compassionate but it's the personal touches, the camaraderie between staff, residents and families that make Gracefields unique. The staff definitely make this care home.

I am a very critical person but I can not see how Gracefields could improve the care, also all the staff are excellent from management to carers. I put satisfactory for value for money as I don't believe anyone should pay for care, it should be government-funded.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.599) out of 10 for Gracefields Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.699 for Gracefields Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (126 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 176 Ratings = 4.699
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gracefields Nursing Home is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 16 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
