My partner spent such a short time in Gracefields Nursing Home before he passed away, only two weeks, but I can thank the manager, nurses, careers enough. He had just the best care I could ever wish for, and I do know he was very happy there, he had a lovely room with a patio door to go outside for
a while.
One again very many thanks to the manager, her nurses and the care staff who looked after him.

My sister and I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff that helped to care for Mum. Although she was receiving end-of-life care she was very happy at Gracefields. All the staff were lovely and we couldn’t have wished for better care for our mum. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Gracefields.

My dad was a resident of Gracefields for three years. During his time there he was looked after extremely well. The care home always informed us of any medical problems dad had and welcomed us into their home like we were all family. The care home is kept very clean and tidy with the cleaner on duty
at all times. The food they serve is always fresh and anything different that the resident may want is always available you just need to ask for it. The entertainment is very good they get regular singers to come in and often put on things where the family are invited in to be part of it. My dad liked to be quiet in his room or with his family so he was not forced to go and take part in the activities he was encouraged to take part but not forced. The staff were all very kind and considerate right up until the end of his life.
Reply from Shyam Desai, Operations Officer at Gracefields Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. Kind words like yours keep our staff inspired through their days of hard work. We are extremely proud of our staff and new manager who continue to uphold our high standards. And as a result, we are very proud to hear that you feel your father was well looked after at the home. We have passed on your comments to our team at Gracefields and they have been very grateful to receive them.

My mother has lived at Gracefields Nursing Home for almost 2 years. She took a while to get used to not living in her own home. Her care here is exemplary and especially during Covid. She is now very content here and is very well looked after.

After illnesses and a series of falls made independent living no longer safe for our mother, we needed to find a suitable care home. We made an unannounced visit to Gracefields Nursing Home and were made very welcome. The manager spent time giving us details about care offered as we could not see facilities
due to Covid-19 restrictions. We were extremely impressed and mother has been there safely for seven months. The home is staffed by kind and caring people who are able to help her deal with my mother's limited mobility and encourage her to keep busy and interact socially should she want to. Her room has washing and toilet facilities. My mother is sensitively looked after by pleasant and sympathetic carers. Food is well prepared and nutritious. Weekly activities include live musicians, arts, crafts and games. Visiting pods and video calls made contact possible and lateral flow tests now enable visits in mother's room. We can always discuss any health issues with nursing staff and are updated frequently.

My mother was admitted to Gracefields in December 2019 for palliative care and was looked after until her death in January 2020. The staff are exceptionally kind and nursed Mum with compassion and dignity during her illness. It is always worrying leaving the care of a close family member to someone
else but I had confidence Mum had the care she needed. Her room was very pleasant and the whole nursing home was very clean.

My father has physically improved since moving into Gracefields having spent four months in hospital thanks to the care and attention he is receiving. His dementia is understood and the staff take time to explain what is happening with his care needs and update me on his overall wellbeing. The manager
is really approachable and al the staff are friendly and helpful and deal promptly with any enquiries.

My mother has been at Gracefields for several months. When we visited the home prior to her moving there, we were impressed by the fact that it didn't have that "nursing home smell". The rooms are clean and well furnished as are all of the public areas. The ratio of staff to residents is good so we
know that my mum is safe. Staff are all really attentive and helpful and they encourage the residents to take part in the wide range of activities that are available. Relatives are encouraged to attend these activities which my dad and I do. Mum has recently been encouraged to start playing the piano again which brings us great joy. Care is taken when selecting clothes that are well laundered for residents to wear and my mum always looks a delight. We would not have wished for my mum's life to be this way but we can't think of a better place for her to be. She is very content and we have peace of mind about her safety and care.

My mother spent the last 14 months of her life in Gracefields. She was unable to care for herself as she had end-stage heart failure. She was cared for extremely well by wonderful staff who really care about their clients. The staff always seemed to be happy in their work and my mother was certainly
very happy with the care she received.
Because of the standard of palliative care that Gracefields was able to offer, my mother did not need to return to hospital and she died in her room peacefully, having been treated with dignity and respect to the very end.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.530)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.530) out of 10 for Gracefields Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.655 for Gracefields Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (112 Excellents x 5) + (49 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 165 Ratings = 4.655
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gracefields Nursing Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
