Orchid Villa (Grosvenor Villas)

from William B (Son of Resident) published on 2 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum worked in Old People's and Alzheimer's Units for >25 years, prior to her 2016 diagnosis of Complex Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia.

This review covers Mum's residence at Orchid Villa, April 2023, ongoing. Orchid was our choice due to the clearly caring nature of the diverse, welcoming, engaged

and motivated staff, at all levels, & good facilities.

This was validated in the first 20 months, with excellent personal and mental health care, facility, cleanliness, & staff/resident/family engagement. Management knowledge, experience, consideration of residents, events, & overall care were excellent, plus support of junior staff & coms between management & families created a warm community atmosphere,.

A change in management c. 12 months ago, led to a less engaged culture, with management more distant, with less coms.

An interim manager has been in place several months. This excellent decision has managed to restore the warm, supportive, engaged team, which should be maintained.

I was uncertain about my wife going into a care home in December 2024. However, despite her having a fall early on I became more and more positive that putting her into Larkhall Springs was the right thing to do. (Larkhall Springs was selected after visiting a number of homes). The physical, mental
and nursing care she has received has been constantly excellent. She is not the easiest patient, but all her care has been done with patience and real care. The staff throughout have been welcoming, friendly as well as very caring and attentive.

I enjoyed two weeks' excellent respite care after a CAR T cell transplant at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. The fine facilities and kind, caring staff provided an ideal environment in which to recover from 3 intense weeks in hospital of chemotherapy and post transplant issues. The food was
excellent and every day I much enjoyed walking around the garden paths for exercise. The staff took good care of my medication, observation and other needs. It felt more like being in a brand new boutique hotel than a care home.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My review is for the last 2 months, where i have seen the home return to the higher standards, held by the previous nursing manager, who sadly left just under a year ago. The whole atmosphere has changed in the past 2 months, staff seemed less stressed and the residents more settled. I have always been
happy with the care my Uncle gets and with his main carers. He can be very challenging and they have an agreed plan for the team to follow which is reviewed regularly and i am kept informed by the carers and nursing management of any changes, incidents and concerns, professionally and with genuine emphathy. For me, the care is one of the important factors and one the main reasons we choose the homes we do for our loved ones. Well done for the recent changes, long may they continue.

My mother was a resident for just over 2 years and during that time, she was cared for and made to feel safe in her home, thanks to all the incredible care staff at Saville Manor. I don't want to mention anyone specifically for fear of missing someone, but from the nursing team to the cleaning staff,
mum and I got to know them personally. All I can say is thank you for everything.

My grandmother was initially hesitant to move into a care facility, but she is now very comfortable in her new home. The staff and room is fantastic. She has found socialising with other residents to be an adjustment but she is now engaging with more activities. My grandmother is very happy and comfortable
at Gracefields.

This review covers my husband's admittance to Gracefield's dementia wing. He can be very difficult but the Gracefield's staff took on the challenge he presented, treating him with great kindness. The same staff also showed kindness + understanding to me as I was naturally concerned about him. They are
working steadfastly towards settling him in to the home.
