My elderly parents, both in their nineties, moved
into The Orangery care home several years ago for dementia care. After an initial period of adjustment they both settled into life at the home with the help of a patient and caring staff.Despite having to deal with complex challenges on a daily basis the
staff has gone above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of my parents. When my father died last year, they helped my mother deal with the loss which eventually led to her more active participation in the amenities the home has to offer.Since I live a considerable distance away it helps considerably knowing that my mother is well cared for.
The home also seems to make an effort to constantly improve the facilities and services at the home. They recently added a new patient lounge and the ability for the residents to pick
meal choices for the coming month.
But most importantly I think they care about the welfare of the people they look after.
Reply from Joby Joseph, The Orangery Home Manager at The Orangery Nursing HomeHi Stuart Thank you for your kind and heartfelt feedback. Unfortunately I couldn't be there but I hear my mum had a fab time with a scaley safari event involving snakes and a tarantula. I can't wait to see the photos. Having been unable to visit since last week I have phoned a couple of times and as always I am given a very informative account of my mother's
day. I will be visiting my mum this weekend, they are having a karaoke session and Mum loves to sing. As always I also look forward to enjoying the wonderful atmosphere created by the dedicated and pleasant staff.

From the beginning, everyone has been amazing! Friendly, smiley, helpful and caring. We were so nervous to trust our Aunt as we had been doing the care, but we couldn't cope anymore. Since her arrival, every aspect of care and support has been truly fab. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend here
for anyone else, and have told my kids I would be happy here when the time comes. The rooms are glorious, the garden is stunning, and it's so safe here. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and my aunt

My mother lived at Somerhill for the last 18 months of her life & we really came to think of it as home & the staff as a 2nd family.
Linda, the manager and her team could not have been more caring, considerate & supportive. The care has improved over the past year with less use of agency staff & nurses
which gives consistency of care and familiarity for the residents.
The experienced team are so committed & really went the extra mile every day to make Mam comfortable , she was always greeted with a smile and treated with gentleness and respect .The team cared for her so well as she became increasingly frail, especially the nursing staff & care coordinator who were so aware of her needs and took time to really listen to how she was feeling.
Her end of life care was exemplary , she and the family were treated with real compassion & care. The rooms are bright & lovely, the gardens are really beautiful.
I never imagined a nursing home could be so full of care.& highly recommend Somerhill
Reply from Linda Brown, Somerhill Home Manager at Somerhill Care HomeThis is such a lovely review and brought tears to my eyes. Your Mum was a pleasure to have in the home and is missed by us all. She will always be fondly remembered.

My Mother was transferred to Dearbourne Manor to be close to us following a severe stroke from which she spent 5 weeks in hospital. The care and support that was shown in her final days was absolutely outstanding, the facility was spotlessly clean at all times and the staff were truly wonderful. In
what was a very difficult time they were there to support us as a family. The staff worked as a team throughout and the standards of nursing care was exceptional. Thank you so much, it will never be forgotten

John transferred to Somerhill in March 2026 following a lengthy stay in hospital. Since he arrived in Somerhill I have seen a big improvement in his mental and physical abilities. The home has a good friendly atmosphere and the staff and carers could not be more helpful or caring. Residents are treated
with care and respect and are well looked after. The food and facilities are also good and the outside garden is delightful and user friendly with plenty of seating.

Our Father has been at Bluebell Villa since it opened. The environment is fresh, modern, cheerful and friendly; but as they say 'it's the people that make the place'. Dad has been cared for with kindness, sensitivity and professionalism, allowing us as a family to let go a little and regain peace
of mind. Trusting a new home to look after your loved one is a leap of faith despite the comprehensive research, however that faith has been rewarded. It is already a little community built from other families of residents and wonderful staff who make us feel welcome and never in the way. Management are on site, visible and available to talk which inspires confidence.

My mum has been at Dearbourne since January 2026. She has settled in very well.
The staff have been absolutely wonderful. Carers, nurses, cleaners, receptionists, maintenance staff, hairdresser, clinical lead and manager are all excellent. As well as being competent, they have all been so caring
and have supported mum so well. We are very grateful to all of them!
Food is great. There are generally a couple of menu choices for each meal, as well as the possibility of ordering from a set menu, if neither option appeals.
The building is very new, well maintained, and kept very clean. The lounges on each floor are lovely. Bedrooms are large and well furnished - the only problem is that mum's room can get hot, so we are looking at ways to manage that. There's a large smart tv. Plenty of free parking. Nice gardens. And a cinema room!
Mum hasn't joined any activities, as she gets a lot of visitors. But from what I've seen, there's plenty going on.
Overall, Dearbourne is a great home!

We are so pleased that we chose The Orangery for our mother. She spent two happy years there before she recently passed away, and we will always be grateful for the kindness and care shown to her by all the staff - the nurses, the carers and the well-being coordinators. How mum enjoyed the sessions
the well-being team organised, from sing-alongs to chair yoga.
The home is well run, led by an exceptional manager and administrator, and we appreciated the work that has gone into refurbishing the facilities: the recently extended lounge - such a lovely welcoming space - and hair salon, where our mother loved to have her hair curled.
As family visitors, we were always warmly received. Thank you for giving us such happy memories of our mother's time at The Orangery that we will treasure.
