Review of Somerhill Care Home from A E (Daughter of Resident) published on 9 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My father in law was placed for two weeks urgent restbite. This has now led to being a full time resident. From the day he moved in Linda the manager was so friendly and put us at ease straightaway. His room has a wonderful view and the cleanliness is second to none. The staff go above and beyond for their residents and make the whole family feel so welcome. Whilst visiting a resident that clearly had severe dementia was getting upset downstairs and wanting to go home. How a carer dealt with that situation was so heart felt, empathy, resoning, patience and further more respect was shown in every way. My Father in law has made friends and goes down stairs to say hello to everyone. This is how it should be when we all reach those later years. The activities are well thought out and allowing for independence too.

It is an absolute pleasure visiting Somerhill no horrible smell it's like home from home and wow what beautiful gardens and views. I am so glad we have Somerhill.

Review of The Orangery Nursing Home from Stuart L (Son of Resident) published on 19 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My elderly parents, both in their nineties, moved
into The Orangery care home several years ago for dementia care. After an initial period of adjustment they both settled into life at the home with the help of a patient and caring staff.Despite having to deal with complex challenges on a daily basis the staff has gone above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of my parents. When my father died last year, they helped my mother deal with the loss which eventually led to her more active participation in the amenities the home has to offer.Since I live a considerable distance away it helps considerably knowing that my mother is well cared for.
The home also seems to make an effort to constantly improve the facilities and services at the home. They recently added a new patient lounge and the ability for the residents to pick
meal choices for the coming month.

But most importantly I think they care about the welfare of the people they look after.

Unfortunately I couldn't be there but I hear my mum had a fab time with a scaley safari event involving snakes and a tarantula. I can't wait to see the photos. Having been unable to visit since last week I have phoned a couple of times and as always I am given a very informative account of my mother's day. I will be visiting my mum this weekend, they are having a karaoke session and Mum loves to sing. As always I also look forward to enjoying the wonderful atmosphere created by the dedicated and pleasant staff.

From the beginning, everyone has been amazing! Friendly, smiley, helpful and caring. We were so nervous to trust our Aunt as we had been doing the care, but we couldn't cope anymore. Since her arrival, every aspect of care and support has been truly fab. In fact, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend here for anyone else, and have told my kids I would be happy here when the time comes. The rooms are glorious, the garden is stunning, and it's so safe here. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and my aunt

Review of Somerhill Care Home from Alison M (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother lived at Somerhill for the last 18 months of her life & we really came to think of it as home & the staff as a 2nd family.
Linda, the manager and her team could not have been more caring, considerate & supportive. The care has improved over the past year with less use of agency staff & nurses which gives consistency of care and familiarity for the residents.
The experienced team are so committed & really went the extra mile every day to make Mam comfortable , she was always greeted with a smile and treated with gentleness and respect .The team cared for her so well as she became increasingly frail, especially the nursing staff & care coordinator who were so aware of her needs and took time to really listen to how she was feeling.
Her end of life care was exemplary , she and the family were treated with real compassion & care. The rooms are bright & lovely, the gardens are really beautiful.

I never imagined a nursing home could be so full of care.& highly recommend Somerhill
