My dad David has been at The Maltings now for over 6 months after a severe stoke and very bad brain bleed witch had left him severely brain damaged unable to communicate walk talk or understand, we could not ask for better care for his needs his needs that are extremely complex, needing a hoist to move him about, needing 2 or more carers to assist in care / personal needs, he needs feeding, nurse to give him all medication, he has a PEG in his tummy which he is fed through, his drinks made with thickener to ensure he does not choke, he is very unpredictable which means he has no understanding of danger, which is a worry as he tries to get out of his chair, but he cannot walk, he has no mobility, can roll out of bed on numerous occasions.

With the help of one-to-one care, my dad has been cared for Extremely well and couldn't ask for better, thank you to all the staff at The Maltings

Since my sister has been at the Maltings, I have felt relieved to know that she is getting the best possible care there. The main thing to me is she seems happy and when I leave I feel that everyone there cares for her happiness too. She is now eating which she had almost stopped doing. This has only happened with lots of help and patience. The caring and comforting from all the care staff is amazing. My sister's personal care was almost non existent, but here she is always clean, tidy and healthy looking. I am always able to speak to someone about her condition. My sister has quite a lot of issues and I do not think she is very kind to the care staff. I am sorry for this and can only say a big thank you to everyone at the Maltings for looking after her so kindly.

Management very good deals with problems instantly, very friendly, some problems with food at meal times, meals not very warm. Sometimes brings food that was not requested. Would like my partner to be involved with activities when family re not there, I know she has a lot of needs otherwise staff and management very helpful and friendly, care home has a nice feeling.

Whenever we visit the Maltings the staff are always welcoming and friendly. They are very responsive to any questions we ask regarding mum's care. Mum is always treated with respect with every effort to support her needs. At each visit there are activities taking place . The garden provides a lovely space which the residents are encouraged to use. We enjoy taking mum in the garden and often see staff taking residents out for a walk. Other family members have been present at meals and always comment on the excellent food which mum really enjoys. The home is clean and well maintained.

Mum is well looked after, always clean and tidy. All the staff speak to her and connect with her. She doesn't wear a denture and they will always ask her what she wants to eat for lunch. Activities do go on which is so good for her. Her room is very roomy and comfortable. Large en-suite as a wet room. She is very happy here.

Overall Experience
Jim spent 3 months at the Maltings care home recovering from a hip fracture and post operative delirium, he has dementia too. I visited him daily at different times, on every visit I was welcomed by the staff.
The building is excellent; all the rooms are spacious with large on-suite wet rooms.
The food is really, really, good and what is lovely at mealtimes is how the staff interact with the residents. There is a meal choice, and everyone is shown the meals to help them decide. Residents are encouraged and enabled to eat independently and are helped whenever it's needed.

The staff, and I mean everyone, have been incredibly kind and gentle in every interaction I've seen, my husband is clean and is always in his own clothes. There are many different activities that all residents are invited to engage in, it's clear a lot of thought goes into keeping resident's minds and bodies active. The carpark is smallish but work is underway to increase capacity and i managed to park ok daily.

Although subjective, I am pleased with the overall service my mother receives. In the passed communication has not always be best but care has been good. I have noticed at times staff are challenged due to under staffing and moral has been low. I do not expect care to be as good as if my mother was at home, were she would receive one to one care but she does receive personal and quality care. I would like more consistency with diet control and medication review, and I have noticed better communication about changes in home and my mothers care.

Staff - carers do an amazing job, but sometimes need to be a bit more motivated.
Communication needs to be better between staff - relatives
Items that go missing from rooms need to be motivated to find these things.
Manager I find approachable - Listens to my moans and problems.

My mother was in The Maltings for just 8 weeks following a stay in hospital. Mum had previously been living in her own house with carers and myself going in daily. However, mum became very poorly and deteriorated rapidly. The care and support she received from everyone she encountered was amazing, from the carers to the nurses and management. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their help and support, including for me at times. As my mum was nearing the end of her life, the staff were so kind and on the 11th August, she died peacefully in her sleep. Many thanks to everyone, who made her last few weeks safe, supported and comfortable.

My mother was in The Maltings from Nov 2017 until June 2018 following an accident which had left her in hospital for the previous 4 months. Whilst she was there we were overall happy with the care she received and the majority of the staff. The home is light and airy and easy to get around in a wheelchair. Being dog-friendly was good too as we were able to visit with our dog. The food was mostly good although sometimes was a little bland. The staff were mostly excellent - there were a few issues we reported with some of the night carers, but many of them were so lovely when she left as she had got to know them well. She was lucky that there was a lady in the room opposite with whom she became very good friends; as she did not have dementia her fear was she might be isolated and it's important for the staff to ensure people are put in rooms with others they can build relationships with.

Overall she was treated with dignity and whilst glad to move home, she was not unhappy there.

From the first day of becoming a resident until her death, my mother-in-law was treated with a high-level care and dedication. All staff took a keen interest in her welfare, taking time to get to know her, her interests and all members of her family.

Upon arrival whatever the time of the day, there was always a friendly face to welcome us and if necessary give us an update on her progress.

The room my mum is in is cleaned every day and is done to an excellent standard. The food is cooked fresh every day and is excellent. The Nurses are very nice and always on hand if needed. The Carers always find time to talk/assist the residents. The Nurses and Carers always welcome people and make it feel very nice and friendly. My mum has been very well looked after and I wouldn't change anything.
