Well...where do I start? in January 2020 I had to make the difficult decision to be placed in a nursing placement for respite due to health decline, at just 30 years old this was not easy, but what was I worried about? From the time I entered Ambika Lodge, I was pleasantly surprised. At the time of
coming to the home I had some very complex health conditions but I felt safe and well cared for straight away. Everyone was so friendly to both staff and residents. This is a family-run care home and I still feel part of the family even though I have left now.
The nurses are very knowledgeable and caring to all residents. The care staff take everything in their stride and nothing is too much trouble.
The housekeeper also does a great job of keeping the home clean and fresh, every day she goes above and beyond her job role. Even better, her morning cup of tea bought to me in bed is the best I have ever tasted!

Excellent service received by my daughter. By her being in Ambika has prevented so many hospital admissions and has kept her safe and well during the Covid-19 outbreak. Keep up the good work.

Would like to say that we were very impressed by the friendly, caring and compassionate staff and management at Ambika Lodge. They provided care for my mum during the last days of her life in a way that made her and us, feel comfortable and at home. The caring nature of the staff was second to none
and faultless. If anyone is looking for a home to care for their loved ones, there aren't enough good words available to recommend Ambika Lodge in the highest way.

My father was in Ambika Lodge for a month in which time the care and love my father received was beyond belief. The owners and staff went beyond more than we as a family could have ever wished for. For our dad's last weeks of his life, nothing was too much trouble, even making sure my mum was looked
after when she was visiting my dad. The food was exceptional. My dad's room was very clean as was the living areas. Truly recommend this care home.

I am very happy that my husband is in Ambika Lodge. It is so lovely, it's just like home. I was very unhappy he could not stay at home but I have no worries he has really settled here. Everyone is so lovely and caring to my husband. Also, my family are all pleased he is happy here.

I have been in this home for nearly two years. I find it very good. I have been through operations before I came in and another lot last year and I have been constantly cared for by staff (daytime, evening and night staff). They have been excellent supporting me right from the time I entered here. I
am glad my children and I decided I could stay here for the duration. I have just had a birthday and the home gave me a wonderful party including entertainment.

The care, love, support and most of all dignity shown to my mum at Ambika Lodge is excellent.
I would recommend this care home to anyone who is wanting to put their loved ones into a care home.
I cannot praise enough all at Ambika Lodge. The managers and staff made us feel so welcome and gave us support
at all times.

The transition from the hospital to Ambika Lodge went well and, my mother was made welcome and comfortable on arrival. She has made good progress and has started to eat with encouragement from the staff. All staff show love and kindness to us all as a family and are a constant support. We would highly

After coming here to Ambika from another care home, my husband's care has been amazing. The staff are caring and attentive. When family visit, they are treated well. I cannot find anything to complain about. When my husband has a doctor's visit, I am telephoned at home and explained clearly what treatment
my husband needs.
I would recommend this home to anyone who wants the best.

My father was a resident of Ambika Lodge for four months for palliative, then end of life care. The care he received was excellent, he was always clean and tidy, with drinks and snacks within reach. All the staff, regardless of their role, were warm and friendly, nothing was ever too much trouble. Relatives
were greeted by name on arrival and offered a chair and a cup of tea, which, having relatives in other care homes recently, is the first time I have experienced this. All the residents were treated with dignity and respect, conversations held with the staff sitting and in an unhurried fashion. The home is scrupulously clean and pleasant to be in with a homely cafe type dining room for meals. Timely liaison with the GP takes place, with the nurses' opinions and recommendations highly respected by the GP. The managers/owners are both trained nurses and combine their roles with skilled ease.

Looking for a good nursing home which provides end of life care for a loved one is a horrendous task. We as a family wanted our loved one to receive a personal end to their journey, we were fortunate to have visited Ambika lodge.
I cannot put into words what an amazing home Ambika lodge is - I am
from a nursing background so I am aware of what to look for, and aware of practices and procedures.
Every resident is treated as an individual, their every request is met. The personal care given is outstanding, every member of staff from catering through to management (who are the owners) are resident focused.
Families are also very involved in all decisions and encouraged by staff to talk, voice family opinions and given advice.
My only regret is that we're unable to get our loved one out of a hospital environment into Ambika lodge earlier, so they could have enjoyed more quality time there.
This truly is an outstanding home - and it is a home in every sense of the word.

After a very long stay in the hospital, we were advised by the medical team to have my father transferred to a nursing home where he was to receive palliative care. With much apprehension, we found a nursing home on Canvey Island and that was when we were introduced to 'Ambika Lodge'.
I remember the
day very clearly because I was so nervous and sad that it had come to this for my dad, but those emotions were short lived when we greeted by a friendly face and made to feel very welcome by the owners. The facilities were great and the whole place looked and smelt so clean. My dads' room just felt so right and perfect for his needs.
I can not praise all the staff enough, literally, ALL of them were just so lovely and showed my dad and us nothing but care, respect and compassion right to the very end.
I will always remember this place with such fond memories.


My dad was too poorly to come home and as they say "There's no place like home" but Ambika Lodge came a close second.

Choosing to have my father admitted to a nursing home for palliative care was by far not an easy decision, we almost didn’t walk in BUT the moment we entered and met the management we knew we were making the right decision. Ambika Lodge is run with care, professionalism, empathy and excellence. We couldn’t
ask for better care. Everyone who works here is an example of excellent care practice. It truly is a home from home and nothing is too much trouble. My fathers every need was met and surprisingly so were ours. Whoever let us in (whatever their role in the home) was able to instantly update us on my father's wellbeing. It truly is a family team atmosphere. We were always greeted with a smile, a drink and the perfect level of friendliness. We always felt welcome and we actually did feel at home.
Every need was met, every box ticked.
We couldn’t have asked for better.
The place is also immaculate and always smells nice too!

Due to my condition, I am not able to participate in many activities, but my room is huge and I can spend the whole day there in comfort. The staff and management are lovely and accommodate most of my wishes ( when it doesn't affect my care).
