Someone living with our definition of "mild dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Memory problems such as misplacing items and not be able to recall recent events (however, in some forms of dementia a person's memory may be unchanged)
- Difficulties thinking through problems and planning, making decisions
- Language and communication issues such as finding it difficult to recall the appropriate word in a conversation or following a conversation

- Difficulty judging distances (more falls than usual)

- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition

Advanced Dementia

My mother has settled in well and there have been no (unusual) problems.
The administration is good and no complaints.
Minor niggle is that they could have used Zoom or Teams to maintain contact between resident and guests during Lockdown.
We do have an iPad at Daffodil Lodge that we use for Zoom between residents and family members, please contact the home and we can arrange for a Zoom chat with you. Our sincere apologies that the communication about this must not have reached you.
All staff are extremely attentive to my mum and her every need is catered for with a high level of care and dignity. Hygiene and safety standards during Covid are above and beyond expectations. So thankful we chose Daffodil Lodge for my mum.

Went to visit my godmother. What a friendly kind staff there is at this care home. My godmother was very comfortable and settled in her new home. The rooms are very clean and tidy. The meals look very nice and it was nice to see the love hearts around the home for Valentine’s Day. Keep up the good work. I know my godmother is very happy.
My Grandmother is a resident at Daffodil Lodge Care Home. She is loving the company and the fun at Daffodil Lodge. The staff and residents are happy always.
A core of staff who have been working with my wife over the last 20 months, I have found them to be caring, patient, friendly and dedicated to doing their best to care for the patients.
My grandma is very happy and settled and we are very happy with her care.
Daffodil Lodge provided a very secure and happy environment for my husband. The staff are kind, empathetic and ever ready to help. The food is excellent and the room met all our needs. The management is efficient and responsive. We really like it there.

Where it does fail, in my opinion, is a lack of mental stimulation for the residents. The afternoons are boring after pleasantries have been exchanged. Some activities are needed.
I find Daffodil Lodge Care Home an excellent Care Home, my husband is having respite care but would like this to be more permanent. The Staff are wonderful and caring with all residents and been a great help to my husband, as well as myself, as I am just out of hospital after a bypass operation. They gave me the support I needed as before my husband went into care I was finding it so hard to cope and at the end of my tether but now it is a pleasure to visit him as he enjoys the company of other residents and the staff. I often visit and find them having a sing-along and all very vocal and quite amazing how they remember most of the words but enjoying every note! I would definitely recommend this Care Home to anyone having to put a loved one into care be it permanent or for some respite.
All the staff have been very helpful and given excellent support to my Husband and myself. It has been a very difficult few weeks. I am very confident with all the care we have been given, I can't praise the staff enough.
