I believe that Brendoncare home in Otterbourne to be the best and I always recommends to anyone that looks for a new home. The personal from manager to the careres and all the team are the best.
Thank you for taking your time to leave us a review - we really appreciate it.
Mum is very settled. I know she feels safe with the carers and nursing staff by the way she chats about them.
Every resident is taken seriously and treated with such respect. The wellbeing of the residents is paramount, with regular trips out for coffee and during the current heatwaves ice cream too. I am reminded of these outings on my regular visits. With gentle persuasion and encouragement the team manage to get mum out, which she enjoys once she is out.
The themed afternoon tea was a real success. My mum told me herself that she enjoyed watching the regency dancing, we dressed her up in one of her best frocks and a fascinator and she looked lovely for the event. And of course she devoured the scones and cream. They also pulled the stops out for her birthday, making her feel very special. The whole team made time to write her a card which didn't go unnoticed by the family. Thank you.
Thank you for taking your time to leave us a review. It is a great pleasure for us to care for Mum and also support you all as a family.
Overall the home is excellent, covering all aspects of living in a care home with good communication. It has a caring, understanding attitude, respect for both residents and relatives. It always appears happy welcoming to anyone who comes into contact with them. The staff are always striving to improve any issues in the running of the home.
Over the past two and half years I have come to know the home very well. I have given it five stars, as I know my Mum will see out the twilight of her years in a happy safe and caring environment. Thank you Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill.
Thank you for your kind review - it's a real pleasure to support Mum as well as you all as a family here.
I want to write this review because every member of staff who comes into my mother's life, makes such a massive difference and I want to say 'thank you'. From us selecting this care home, through sorting out the finances, through the many ups and downs of life with a parent with dementia, the staff at Otterbourne could not have done more for us and for mum. It brings such piece of mind to know that they really know her, meet her needs and support her. I can't get over, how often staff from other houses within Otterbourne say hello to my mum, naming her as if they all really know her. I'm so glad that we chose here for mum to live her life.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It's such a pleasure for us to look after Mum and for her to be here with us; also to get to know you all as a family.
Our mother had fairly rapidly progressing Alzheimer's and Brendoncare were able to support her throughout the whole progression over two years. She peacefully passed away in the most kind, caring and professional environment we could wish for.
Thank you so much for taking your time to leave us a review. They always mean a lot to us. It really has been our pleasure to have looked after your Mother for the last few years and get to know you all.
As a family we found my Aunts' Dementia challenging and upsetting at times and we appreciated every time a staff member acknowledged that and supported us with this journey.
Auntie's favourite thing was our visits to the in-house coffee lounge were we could chat over a hot drink and a slice of cake. It is here where we got to know other residents and their families. She also loved joining in the various activities organised by the wellbeing team.
We would not hesitate to recommend Otterbourne Hill.
Thank you for sharing such a heartfelt message. We're so sorry for your loss and truly honoured to have cared for your Aunt during her time with us. It means a great deal to hear that she felt comfortable and supported, and that you as a family found comfort and connection here too. We're glad the...
Mum has been a resident at Otterbourne Hill since February 2023. I spent quite some time researching local care/nursing homes and was most impressed by the calm, efficient and caring atmosphere that greets you when you arrive at OH. This culture is evident throughout and all the staff are friendly, supportive and unfailingly kind to residents and their families and friends.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're truly grateful for your thoughtful feedback and so pleased to hear that you feel supported and welcomed at Otterbourne Hill. It means a great deal to our team to know that our care and values are shining through.
The rooms are lovely, airy and clean. It's ground floor and the garden doors are always unlocked so she is free to go outside when she chooses. She is in a safe space with staff who are responsive to her needs, and she can be herself, although even then she can feel a bit constricted. She has developed some wonderful friendships and my mother feels welcomed wherever she goes. The daytrips are best for her fitness and mental health. They are always looking for new ideas for her. At over one year, she's very comfortable and happy. It's lovely to see all her photos. She can be herself so I am looking forward to the day when mum says she is 'home'. Dementia care is evolving and Brendoncare continues to look to new ways of working.
Thank you for your lovely review. It has been truly wonderful to see your Mum settle at Otterbourne Hill, seeing the new friendships made and our residents living their best lives is what we live for and your Mum is truly an inspiration.
The most overpowering feeling about Otterbourne Court when you go in is that of the love given by all of the staff. The smiling receptionists and welcoming people; the general cleanliness and tidiness shown by the cleaners; the smiling faces when you arrive in my Mum's section; the way that Mum has been cared for in all her personal needs; the presentation of food carefully prepared and often replaced with something else if not liked; the pleasant aspect of the garden from Mum's window; the time spent with her by staff holding her hand and listening to her stories of childhood when they have the opportunity; the patience of all the carers who help when Mum she doesn't hear or understand a word that they are saying; the kindliness and sensitivity of the nurses when treating a very old person with dementia. I feel confident that they are all there for her when she most needs them.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review and for your kind words - it really means a lot to all of us and I am so pleased we are able to support your Mum as well as you all. Best wishes
I feel so blessed that my mother is in this home, being cared for by staff that know her well. This familiarity enables them to pick up on changes within my mum's health quickly. The carers take great pride in their work, ensuring my mum looks her best each day. The staff from all disciplines ( carers, nurses, catering, maintenance, household, laundry, activities, reception, administration, management) are without fail, friendly and helpful to both mum and I. This is a truly lovely home!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review, they always mean a lot to all of us. It is a pleasure to be able to look after Mum as well as support yourself and wider family.
Very friendly and caring staff who go above and beyond on a daily basis whether it be nursing / care staff , entertainments, food, maintenance or administrative staff. They are always friendly, helpful and capable.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review - we really appreciate this. It is a pleasure for us to be able to look after Mum as well as support yourself and wider family.
My Dad was a resident at Otterbourne Court for three years. Whilst there he received excellent care from all the staff. I was always kept well informed of any health issues by the nursing staff and I got great peace of mind knowing that the doctor would see him if necessary. This is really important when you don't live locally. Dad engaged with a wide range of activities and trips whilst there and this meant that he lived a good quality of life until nearly the end. When Dad came to the end of his life I was really touched by the way it wasn't just him that was cared for, but we were all cared for as we watched and waited - this was unexpected and much appreciated. I will miss coming into the home for visits - a lot of the staff have remained the same in the three years Dad was a resident.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. It truly means a great deal to all of us at Otterbourne Court to hear how much our care and support meant to both your dad and your family. We feel privileged to have been a part of his life over the past three years, and it's lovely to hear that he was...
We cannot comment on the activities on offer or the food as my father-in-law was a resident for only 3 weeks before he passed. His care could not be faulted throughout. We found it reassuring that the nursing and care team were all long-term employees, they could not have been more caring and supportive. His end-of-life care was all we could have wished for: compassionate, dignified and respectful. When my father-in-law passed, we were treated with compassion and given time to say our farewells.
This was a five-star hotel in a sea of human warehousing.
Thank you so much for taking your precious time to leave us a review. We are so grateful to have been able to make a difference for your father-in-law and family. Wishing you all the best.
I had to find a home for my elderly mother in covid and something about Otterbourne Hill stood out. I could not even visit, but had a mobile phone tour and felt it was the right place. (It might help to say I had been a qualified ambulanceman for 12 years so had been in thousands of care homes). My mum passed recently so she spent almost 3 years living at OH. It is very well appointed, quite new, clean and modern. Mum was looked after well overall. It's always warm and is run well. Generally, the food looked good most of the time and afternoon teas generally arrived with homemade cake etc, which is nice. The qualified staff on each household are the shining lights. They are an amazing group of staff supported of course by carers who can be more transient. Most staff speak good English which is important when older or hard of hearing/comprehension. The set-up is to a very high standard. There are lots of breakout areas/balconies which offer privacy and a place to sit out. We are very grateful.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to look after your mum and get to know you all as a family.
When we first viewed Otterbourne Hill as a potential new home for my mum, the minute I walked in the door I had a really good feeling about it. Otterbourne Court is bright, clean, has a calm and warm feel to it. I can only describe it as a hotel for older people and perfect for my Mum who had lived in her own home for over 53 years. Some of the food is good and some is mediocre. The rooms could have been designed to be slightly bigger for wheelchair users. It’s great having separate nursing and dementia households. The staff are very caring and Mum is very happy.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. We are so pleased to hear that your mum is happy here with us at Otterbourne, I will make sure to pass your kind words onto our colleagues. Thank you for bringing up these points, we will review them.
Overall, my dad is cared for well, he has been a resident since February 2022. Having permanent staff enables Dad to build up relationships with them and to develop that trust and continuity that is so important. There have been issues but I find the senior staff are keen to address these and put things right. The majority of the staff are friendly, approachable and helpful. The facilities, cafe and lounge areas are excellent.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review and for your feedback. I’m really keen for us to continue to work collaboratively with everyone to make the home the best it can be and I’m really grateful for your ongoing support and input with this.
From the day my old friend moved in, she was made welcome. She joined in with the staff singing in the lounge that day and started to make friends. I was made to feel welcome from all the staff whatever level they were on, and whenever I visited. As the time went on, the staff felt like my friend's other family. I know they loved her banter, and she loved them. My friend always looked cared for, and she didn't complain about anything. She enjoyed the food and thought it was great that they did her washing for her! The gardens were well-tended, and we used that area when we could. The staff always let me know if there was a change in her condition, or if she had been seen by the doctor. I felt quite happy to ask questions and knew they would respond appropriately. Up until the last breath, my friend was treated with dignity and compassion. Many thanks to all the staff.
Thank you very much for your review. Equally, your very dear friend was a part of our family for a long time, and we will miss her character and banter immensely. We are so happy to hear that she was treated with the love and care she deserved. Sending best wishes to you.
Complete disregard of my LPOA, I might just as well be a complete stranger. I have joint and several LPOA with my stepfather and they insist on only communicating with him, I'm not even allowed a copy of her care plan, although I've requested it in writing, a shocking way to treat my mother.
Thank you for taking the time to send us a review. I am very sorry to hear how you feel with regard to the information shared. As per your discussion with our deputy manager we are more than happy to provide you with a hard copy of the care plan for your Mother but there is a set legal process...
I feel very much helped by staff here - often of their own responding to simple needs as I think of and always help to the knowledge and what I've asked about, e.g. the shop here with its unexpected knowledge of what's available, e.g. verification of time available at that moment. I could continue.
Thank you so much for taking your time to leave us such a kind review, we are so pleased that you are happy here and feel well supported.
I have been visiting my partner every day at Brendoncare for six months. I am always welcomed with a smiling greeting from everyone I come across. This is from reception, carers, housekeepers, nurses, cooks, admin staff and any other people who happen to be there. The building and grounds are fresh and clean and well cared for, as are the residents. There are plenty of comfortable lounges and meeting places. The food is good. Care and attention to all detail is appreciated. The staff are always willing to listen and respond to any queries and questions at any time. It is a happy and well managed place.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. It is such a pleasure to see you visiting your partner everyday and to have gotten to know you both over the past six months. I will ensure all staff are made aware of your kind words and positive review, it is very much appreciated - Thank you.

Meet the Team (10)

Caring has always been part of my DNA, even before I started in a Nursing Home aged 16, supporting Residents with dementia, different Nursing needs and end-of-life care. I also worked in Domiciliary care over the course of a few years. My Brendoncare career began at Park Road, later moving to Meadway, where I became a team leader, progressing to Deputy Manager. Brendoncare asked me to support Knightwood for a period of time before transferring there permanently in the role of Deputy Manager. After a few years, I became Acting Manager, then General Manager.
It’s such a pleasure to now be at Otterbourne Hill, as it’s always buzzing and where no two days are ever the same. It is also a privilege to lead a dedicated, motivated team. They put our residents and our community hub members at the heart of everything they do.

I became a Nurse in 2003, and caring for others is one of my missions. I am determined to deliver quality care to my residents. Working in an acute medical ward in a Government Hospital in Hong Kong for almost 20 years, I had my high skills training as a Nurse specialist and became in charge of a nurse-led clinic as an advanced practice Nurse. Life changing and myself and family moved to the UK in 2020, therefore I restarted my Nursing career again here.
In the process of converting my license, I started a career as a carer to take care of severe autism and learning disability young adults, which is often present with challenging behaviour. As a hospital Nurse for so many years, I wished to challenge myself to become a community Nurse, therefore once I got my license again I went to work at a Nursing home which cares for residents living with dementia. It’s always a learning opportunity whilst caring for individuals who suffer from dementia which enhanced my nursing experience as well.
Working with Brendoncare is my pleasure as their concept of charity and values is my cup of tea. Even more grateful that I am always supported by a dedicated and motivated team. After a few months of working as a Nurse, I took up the Deputy Manager role to keep on challenging myself. I hope my experience and knowledge can enrich the brilliant home and brilliant team, to provide quality, dignity and safety care to our residents.

I have worked at Otterbourne Hill since it opened in 2018, starting here as a nurse before being appointed deputy manager.
My background is as a dialysis/renal nurse with a specialist talent in venepuncture.
Married with a daughter, I moved to the UK from Croatia and love working in this wonderful care home, where my passion is now supporting and caring for our residents living with dementia.

When I was young my mum was a home carer for Hampshire County Council and on occasions, I was able to go out to visit some of her clients, which started the passion to care for people. At school I was aiming to become a nurse, so I set up my studies around this, but I met my husband which meant my career changed direction. I have had various jobs throughout my life from being a PA to a Technical Director, Health & Safety administrator to serving in a fish & chip shop. One of my neighbours works at Knightwood and over our fence we chatted and she said how wonderful it was to work there and that I should apply, so history was written.
I have worked with Brendoncare for 12 years, working as a domiciliary carer at Knightwood, to then becoming the supervisor there. Four years ago I was asked if I would like to help the manager at Otterbourne Hill with the domiciliary service. Otterbourne Hill gave me a new challenge in my career as the residents in the mews here are supported to live independent lives whilst having a diagnosis of dementia, we also support families to stay together enabling them an environment to live in and stay together.
Away from Otterbourne Hill, I am a Nanna to 2 boys so this keeps me busy when they come to visit.

I started my working life with British Gas many moons ago, and although not have worked in the ‘care world’ before I joined Otterbourne Hill in 2018, I have always worked and been involved with caring for people in some aspect, sometimes challenging but always rewarding. I enjoy my role at Otterbourne Hill, working with my colleagues, and meeting relatives and residents alike. Every day is different, and I always aim for a good one.

Before joining Brendoncare in September 2018 I had a range of careers ranging from various administration jobs to working in Beauty Salons. After owning and selling an events company I took the plunge and decided to sell so that I can pursue a career within Health and Social care. It was the best career decision I ever made.
I started as a bank care assistant at Knightwood and after a few months, I was offered a permanent position. Being able to make a difference in someone’s day and leaving work with a feeling of job satisfaction is the best feeling and one which I had never felt before.
In January 2019 I decided to start helping out as a Wellbeing Coordinator as well as maintaining my care hours. This gave me a whole new concept within care and one which again, I thoroughly enjoyed. When a part-time role became available in Wellbeing I decided to focus on this area, providing a range of activities and fun events for all residents to enjoy. Being in wellbeing you get to see a different side to people that you may not have seen whilst providing personal care.
In May 2023 I applied for a well-being role in one of our larger homes to challenge myself. I am now a Wellbeing Supervisor at Otterbourne Hill, working within a fun team and still providing a range of different activities including outings and events.

I joined Brendoncare in December 2021 after six years of working in childcare. My father had recently passed away from dementia so working in a care home that specialised in dementia meant a lot to me. I really enjoy working at Otterbourne Hill, I have built up wonderful relationships with my fellow colleagues, our relatives that I deal with on a day-to-day basis and the residents who pop into my office to say hello or I see in the hallways. I love to hear the building filled with singing, laughter, and entertainment. It is a joy to work at Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill, no day is ever the same and this has been my favourite place of employment in my 20+ years of working.

I have been a carer since I was 21 years old back in 2016, I started working for Brendoncare in 2018 when Otterbourne Hill opened and I have loved it here ever since. After 5 years or so, I decided I wanted a change and a challenge and was offered the role of Administrative Assistant at the beginning of 2024 and I have not regretted it!
I really enjoy being part of a big team who are all happy to help each other out and still be a part of the residents’ lives, which means a lot to me. We really are one big family here!

I really enjoy my role as receptionist at Otterbourne Hill especially working with all the team, meeting relatives and residents.

I love every minute of my job, which gives me the opportunity to support families during what can be a very difficult time. Previously, my grandmother had been a nursing home resident for several years so, through this experience, I gained the utmost respect and appreciation for everyone involved in her care. I also know how important it is for families to have the reassurance of knowing that their loved ones are safe and receiving quality and compassionate care.
During my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, going for long dog walks and ice-skating.
