I would like to thank the manager and his team for taking such good care of my parents as they settle into Springvale. Living in Australia, it’s not always easy to call at a convenient time, so the newsletter is a great way to see what they have been up to. Mum is enjoying all of the activities and
has a full day enjoying time with her new friends. Dad has been enjoying the garden, his favourite past-time, and I am thankful that he has access to this. I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful care especially during these past Covid challenging months.

Due to Covid-19, my experience of the care home has been limited. I visited for the first time this year and used the visitor's room with the glass partition, which was ideal in the circumstances. One member of staff was excellent, although my presence would appear to be the catalyst to my mother’s
anxiety attacks, and so I will continue to limit my visits, which appear to be counterproductive. I have experienced poor communication with long delays when staff are answering the phone. However, when I do get through, the staff members are on most occasions are informative of my mother’s condition. However, I have asked to be informed of her need for clothing, toiletries and underwear, although I’m told someone will call me, I’m still waiting.

My dad has been in Springvale Care Home for four months. Prior to that, he had spent more than three months in hospital, and he was quite debilitated when he entered Springvale Care Home. In spite of all the challenges faced in the last few months, Dad's health has improved greatly, and he is very content
in this home. The staff are all warm, considerate and extremely friendly. They are always very keen to help and are extremely patient. Visiting has been well-organised, and his room is immaculately clean. The room is bright and airy with immediate access to the garden. Dad enjoys the food. The activities manager shows great interest in trying to tailor his activities and environment to his personality. Very strongly recommended.

Amazing care home!


When both my parents moved into Springvale Care Home just over 2-months ago, we were all very apprehensive.
Having looked around numerous care homes, we are absolutely delighted that in the end, we settled with Springvale.
Both my parents have settled in really well, and the

manager and every single member of staff that we have come across have welcomed them and made them feel very happy to be there.


The care home is stunning and immaculate, but it is definitely the staff who work there that give us peace of mind that my parents are well cared for and safe. In the short time that my parents have been there, I feel the staff go above and beyond and keep in contact with us as to what’s happening with them both.


I would definitely recommend this amazing care home for anyone having to make this hard decision.

My mother was a resident at Springvale from summer 2019. It did take a while for my mum and the staff to get used to each other, but over the last 12-18 months, the care and contact with the management improved vastly. Throughout, my mum was able to participate in a wide range of activities, and she
especially enjoyed being able to get her hair cut on a regular basis. The care from the staff was especially compassionate in my mum's last few hours when we were taken care of as much as my mum.


If I have one gripe, it is a bit strange that residents have to provide their own television - all the other homes I visited when I was looking around already had televisions in the rooms. I initially bought a TV for my mum's room, but the remote control seemed to suffer from interference with the movement sensors in the room. It took me about 3 remote controls to work that out. I replaced it with another TV make, and it worked fine.


Overall, though, I would definitely recommend Springvale.

Mum has been in since late 2019. From the first day, I was impressed by the level of care given to Mum. In the days when we could visit, I could see that same care and kind attention being given to others. It was a great reassurance at the time and remains so today. The range of activities seems good
as is having regular staff in place as I am sure this helps with Mum's care.


The new management team has improved communication over the past year. The Covid impact has hugely frustrating to everyone, but I can only applaud the staff and the management team for coping so well with what must be the many extra demands made on them.
Well done all.

My dad moved into Springvale from a different care home. The standard of care was second to none. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They got to know Dad very well in a short period of time. Our family were able to visit due to the specially designed visitors room. Some of us hadn't seen Dad
for months at the other care home. The hairdresser cut his hair as opposed to shaving it. Thus pleased Dad, and he was able to feel more like his old self. As a family, we really appreciated the care he received.

This year has been dreadful for us all as we struggle to ensure that we keep in touch with our relatives. My aunt has been so well looked after before and during the current pandemic. During this time, the staff has ensured that my aunt participates in activities on a daily basis. We have been able
to keep in contact via Zoom, and she is able to see us and tell us what she has been up to. We have been fortunate that the government has allowed window and garden visits, and this has helped my aunt, as like us, all she is missing cuddles and being able to see the kids. A huge thanks to all of the staff who have worked every day during these times, putting the people they look after their priority. Thanks also to the management for their efforts in keeping us up to date. The monthly Zoom call with the manager is great. I can’t thank the staff enough.

My mum moved into Springvale in late 2019. My brother and I were happy to have Mum there, but there were incidents of poor communication over the first few months. We were especially concerned about reported issues with the home, which we felt we were not kept informed of to a suitable degree. However,
the care given directly to Mum during this time was still good despite these concerns.
In 2020 though, things definitely improved with the new management team in place, communication is now much more regular and transparent, including opportunities for families to discuss issues directly with the team, even during such difficult times as we have experienced with COVID.
The introduction of individual care plans is also a great addition, giving families more confidence.
The team have worked hard to manage the virus, and we are extremely grateful to everyone at Springvale for working so hard to keep Mum safe.
Overall, a huge improvement. Well done, and thanks to all.

My dad moved into Springvale Care Home in early 2019, and the next 12 months saw varying degrees of care. There was a need for us to raise numerous concerns and these were not always dealt with promptly or satisfactorily. At that point in time, I would not have been happy to recommend the care home.
However,
since the early part of 2020, there has been a significant turnaround and improvement in the level of care. This has been due to the efforts of the current care home manager, the deputy manager and a more consistent permanent care staff, with far less reliance on agency workers. In what has been an extremely difficult set of circumstances (due to Covid-19), the care home have kept my dad safe and healthy, while at the same time giving us the opportunity to keep in touch with him, through phone calls or the introduction of the 'safe visitors room'. The communication from the home has improved beyond all recognition, and I hope that the home continues its improved performance.

It is always a difficult decision to place your Mum into care. It is not a decision taken lightly. Happily, after some nervousness, we were lucky that a place was found at Springvale. It had a slow start but, has built up under new management where the care and professionalism shown by the staff is
excellent. We feel Mum is safe and well cared for. Now they have Covid-19 to deal with. Putting themselves in the front line as many other NHS staff and continuing to provide high levels of care for the residents.
While a lot of us are in lockdown; sitting at home it is massively reassuring that our loved ones are being taken care of, and I am extremely grateful that such a facility exists and the staff who work there.

This home has provided my uncle with exceptional care.
The staff are amazing and are very attentive to my uncle's needs. My uncle's quality of life has increased massively since moving here. Find visiting a very enjoyable experience.
It gives me great comfort knowing my uncle is being looked after
here. Although this is a stunning home, it is definiatly the staff who make it so good.
The previous manager worked an open door policy and supportive relatives through queries etc. Highly recommended.

Victor has worked in the care home sector for over 35 years in a variety of roles such as a Nurse, Deputy Manager, Regional Director and more recently Home Manager.

Ross enjoys meeting residents and their families and holding resident menu meetings to learn more about what our residents would like to see from the dining here at Springvale.
