My mother-in-law who has advanced Parkinson's and complex needs has been cared for at Marine View Lodge since September 2021. The team here are always there to help support and make sure she has the nursing care she needs. They are also there to listen when you have any concerns too - the manager and
her team of nurses and carers always make you feel welcome.

Marine View Lodge looked after our dad so well. He was only there for a couple of months but in that time he was treated with care and compassion. They were wonderful and I can’t praise them enough. The staff made the worst experience in the world bearable.

The staff exceeded all our expectations and succeeded in making my dad’s last few weeks so much more than it might ordinarily have been. The home itself is modern and very well equipped but it is the staff that makes this place sparkle. They are truly amazing, helpful, compassionate superstars.

I am more than happy with the care my husband has received since moving into Marine View Lodge. From day one you encouraged him to eat (he was only 5st) and he was so frail and weak. He soon put some weight on and looks so much better. I think all your staff are amazing, very caring and have a special
relationship with the residents. It isn't an easy job, they have so much to contend with, so me and my family can't thank you enough for the care and attention you give to my husband. Thank you so much.

For me personally, I consider myself very lucky to be a resident.
At times I feel frustrated (and upset) for the staff, as so much seems to be expected of them and I am appreciative of the care they give me and thank them all.

My aunty felt safe in her time spent with you. She was well looked after. The staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. She enjoyed the activities and the days when there was a summer fair or celebration of the Queen's anniversary. Thank you for everything you did for her.

Dad hasn't been here very long (2 weeks). My second experience of a nursing home. Can I say how pleased I am with the care and attention by all the staff. Even though my dad has been poorly, they are all looking after him very well. This place is clean and does not smell. The meals are wonderful home-cooked
meals.

We were very happy with the care our Mum got, on the whole, but a few times we did find Mum left to sleep sitting at the dining table, we didn’t really understand this.
Very good social and regular events included visitors.
The only letdown was the lack of response from the GP’s and failure to turn
up when called upon by the staff.

The majority of staff are really caring and treat the patients really well. There have been a lot of agency staff recently which does not add to continuity which is important.
The care is expensive, but it's great to have a new building and ensuite bathrooms.

My aunt was the most wonderful person, professional and dignified, the staff that looked after her emanated the very same. They were kind, professional, welcoming and friendly to the very end. What amazing staff you have working for you, you should be so proud. We couldn't have asked for more or better.
Your facilities were perfect, modern and clean and in a perfect setting overlooking the river. Your front-of-house staff, welcoming and simply lovely, whatever time we arrived.
For anyone with loved ones in care or on the journey, this was truly the perfect setting. You made everything seamless and comfortable, not just for my aunt but for my family as well.
Thank you to all your staff from myself, my mum, brothers, uncle/s, cousin/s and great niece/s.
Kindest regards and love to all.

My dad only spent 6 days in Marine View Lodge because he was end of life. We could not of asked for a better place for him to have stayed for his last days. The care was impeccable and the care we were given, as a family, was amazing. What a fantastic team you have here!
We could not rate food or activities,
because he didn't have any - but you make a great cup of tea!

I needed to find my mum 24 hour nursing care fast when she was being discharged from hospital after having suffered a bad fall which had accelerated her dementia. I was so relieved when I telephoned the manager and was told there was a room available for her. The day she arrived I went in and to my
astonishment I found my mum smiling and happy in her new bed. Staff did a great job of welcoming her and settling her in. Over the coming weeks my mum was transformed thanks to the amazing carers and nurses. They soon had her up out of bed, full dressed and feeding herself. This has given me and my family such sheer relief and peace of mind. During her stay she has so enjoyed music therapy, numerous parties and one to one activities with staff. They have even taken her out for a coffee. We have celebrated my dad's 90th birthday party with her when staff made us a birthday cake and decorated the room. All the staff treat my mum (and my dad) with the greatest respect, dignity and love.
Reply from Beverley Favager, Lodge Service Advisor at Marine View LodgeThank you for your lovely review. New residents will always receive a warm welcome to Marine View Lodge. We understand it can be a daunting experience moving to new surroundings with new faces and sounds and we will always make the transition as smooth and welcoming as possible. We are so pleased it was a positive experience for your mum and she felt settled so quickly. Our staff always support the family members too so they have peace of mind that their relative is in the best place receiving fantastic care. Our activities team provide a varied program and enjoy celebrating birthdays with parties and a cake made by our chef! Everyone enjoyed celebrating your dad's birthday, he is very much part of the family at Marine View Lodge. Many thanks.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.611)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.611) out of 10 for Marine View Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.611 for Marine View Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (178 Excellents x 5) + (87 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 275 Ratings = 4.611
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marine View Lodge is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
