Northcare Suites Care Home is a purpose-built luxury 76-bed care home in Edinburgh. The skilled and experienced team provide 24 hour nursing care which is tailored to each individual's unique support needs and wishes.

Each of the 76 generously appointed bedroom suites comes with hospitality and turn down services, an optional newspaper and passive alarm sensors. They are finished to the highest standards and include large en-suites, a small double bed, telephone facility, call bell, high speed wireless internet connectivity and Sky TV connection points.

The interiors exude elegance- they are fresh, spacious and bathed in natural light. Communal areas include lounge and dining rooms, a Castle View Brasserie with access to the rooftop balcony, a Private Dining Room, a Residents-only hair and beauty salon and a fully equipped cinema theatre.
Externally, Northcare Suites offers residents beautiful outdoor space to enjoy; from relaxing on the outdoor terrace, to using the walking circuit and putting green, to pottering around in the greenhouse.

There is a busy programme of activities and entertainment to choose from including flower arranging, yoga and language classes. Guests are welcomed and can enjoy a complementary refreshments including fresh home baking or meal for special events with their loved one.

Throughout my mum's stay at Northcare Suites over the years, I have found the staff consistently kind, caring, friendly, patient, helpful and professional and feel that Mum is being well looked after.

Since my mother came into Northcare Suite the staff have always been very informative of what is happening with her.
Accurate records are always on hand and the family is always kept informed immediately of any changes, medical issues etc.

My mother is at Northcare Suites and has been since October 2023. We are so happy with the home. The staff are incredible and I cannot fault them. They look after my mother so well and are always helpful and knowledgeable about what is going on with my mother. There are plenty of activities.
My mother
enjoys the food and when we visit we are also looked after very well with coffee and cakes. The facilities are lovely. My mother's room is always clean and has a hairdresser, cinema, and lovely meeting rooms.
I would recommend Northcare Suites to anyone looking for a luxurious care home.

Northcare Suites on Telford Road; what an absolutely amazing care home. From the minute I arrive at reception, I am greeted with warmth and respect. Care staff are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. They show care, kindness and extensive knowledge about my aunt and her needs. My aunt is extremely
well cared for, any health issues she has are treated timely and with dignity. I am always kept updated about her needs and how they are being met. I have experienced first-hand the care and support experienced by my aunt, she had an infection and was being closely monitored by nursing staff. My aunt and I felt completely reassured and supported. My aunt consistently praises the care she receives and is the happiest and healthiest I have seen her for years. Cleanliness is outstanding throughout the whole of the care home. The catering is fabulous and my aunt enjoys all her meals. The whole team from reception to kitchen, cleaning, care and nursing staff are exceptional. Thank you.

Northcare is a fantastic environment for those suffering from dementia, with staff that know their residents thoroughly and provide activities supporting their residents, including a cinema and external trips out. As a main contact, the staff also keep me well informed of any events related to my father.
All staff make a point of knowing and welcoming me when I visit.

My wife has been in care with dementia for three and a half years, and the care and treatment of my wife has been first-class since she was admitted. I like the fact that the lead nurses have been there all the time. There are a lot of activities to keep patients alert and always informed immediately
if my wife has any health problems.

Debbie

Debbie Crawford

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2019

Debbie has over 20 years of experience in the care sector, beginning her journey as a home care assistant. Her deep passion for elderly care inspired her to pursue further education, leading to the completion of her Nursing degree in 2015.


Since qualifying, Debbie has dedicated her career to working in care homes, driven by a commitment to ensuring that residents are supported in living well and enjoying a high quality of life.


In 2019, Debbie joined Northcare Suites as a Clinical Lead Nurse. She was drawn to Northcare’s ethos of nurturing both mind and body through engaging activities, along with its strong focus on prioritising the well-being of its clients. In 2020, Debbie progressed to the role of Deputy Manager and was later promoted to Manager of Northcare Suites.

Kevin

Kevin Brown

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2018

In 2002, Kevin graduated from the University of Stirling as a Mental Health Nurse. Since qualifying, driven by a passion for caring for the elderly, particularly those living with dementia, Kevin has dedicated his career to working in care homes, leveraging his knowledge and experience to hold various roles, including Charge Nurse and Deputy Manager.


In January 2018, Kevin joined the Northcare team as a Clinical Lead and transitioned to the role of Deputy Manager at Northcare Suites in April 2023. This position has provided Kevin with opportunities to continue learning and developing new skills while focusing on supporting the team to deliver exceptional person-centred care.

Karen

Karen Cuthbertson

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2019

Karen leads a dedicated team of three staff in creating nutritionally balanced meals for 76 clients. She ensures that individual dietary needs are met, maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality, personalised nutrition.


Karen’s role extends beyond daily meal preparation to organising special events for clients and their families. These include private dining experiences, summer barbecues, and chef-led initiatives such as ‘Making with Chef’, themed evenings showcasing global cuisines, and monthly cheese and wine afternoons. Karen also actively engages clients through focus groups to shape future menu offerings.


Before joining Northcare, Karen served as Head Chef at Edinburgh's independent Mary Erskine Girls School for three years, during which she earned the prestigious title of ‘School Chef of the Year’ for Scotland.
For fifteen years prior, she held the role of Head Chef at John Lewis Edinburgh, managing a brigade of 26 chefs.


With 40 years of culinary experience, Karen is a highly skilled and passionate chef dedicated to excellence in every aspect of her craft.

Andras Grof

Job Title: Head of Hospitality Joined: 2018

As Head of Hospitality at Northcare Suites, Andras oversees a dedicated team of 7 Hospitality Assistants, ensuring the delivery of exceptional food and beverage service to clients. Andras has been instrumental in training staff and maintaining the highest standards in hospitality.


Before his tenure at Northcare, Andras honed his skills over seven years at Edinburgh’s prestigious five-star Balmoral Hotel. His roles included Chef de Rang in the hotel’s meeting and events team and at the acclaimed Number One Restaurant, which holds 4 AA Rosettes.


Andras brings extensive expertise in planning and executing events of all sizes, complemented by his proficiency in bar management, cocktail creation, and an excellent knowledge of wines and spirits. His commitment to excellence and attention to detail make him a vital asset to the Northcare team.

Amanda

Job Title: Head of Hair and Beauty Joined: 2019

At Northcare Suites we understand the importance of looking and feeling your best, and that's why we're proud to have Amanda as our Head of Hairdressing and Beauty. With over 25 years of experience in hairdressing and a passion for working with senior clients, Amanda brings exceptional skills and a compassionate touch to every appointment.


At just 16, Amanda began her career with Kenneth Kim in the Edinburgh Salon, where she completed her junior training and earned her SVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing. She then joined the prestigious global hairdressing brand, Regis, steadily advancing from Stylist to Salon Area Manager.


Throughout her career, Amanda has undertaken some of the industry's most esteemed educational programmes, including the highly regarded Wella Professionals Master Colour Expert Programme, one of the top accolades in the field of hair colour.
