Bridge of Weir Care Home, part of the Morar Living group, is beautifully situated beside the River Gryffe in the heart of Bridge of Weir. The home provides a warm and welcoming setting where people can feel truly at hame while continuing to live life in a way that reflects who they are.

Life within the home is built around the individual. Each resident is recognised as a person first, with their own story, routines, preferences and aspirations. Care and support are thoughtfully tailored, encouraging independence, dignity and choice in everyday life. Time is taken to understand what matters most, ensuring residents remain involved in decisions about their care and daily living.

The home has been designed to create a calm, homely atmosphere. Smaller living areas offer quiet, comfortable spaces where meaningful relationships can grow. Residents benefit from private bedrooms with en-suite wet rooms, supporting privacy and comfort, while assisted bathrooms are available for those who enjoy a relaxing bath.

Shared spaces include a cinema room, private dining area, day diner, resident kitchen and servery areas, quiet lounges and an on-site hairdressing salon. A welcoming café and piano bar provide relaxed places to enjoy refreshments and a blether with family and friends.

Enclosed gardens offer safe outdoor areas where residents can move freely and enjoy fresh air throughout the seasons.

To help people stay connected to their community, the home has its own air-conditioned Mercedes vehicle with wheelchair access, supporting outings, appointments, day trips or simply going out for a coffee.

Bridge of Weir Care Home is, above all, a place where residents’ voices are heard, identities are respected, and each person is supported to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

My mum got into Bridge of Weir care home and it’s been an absolutely fantastic place for my mum who is at the end of life. The manager and all the care staff have been fantastic, there’s nothing you would ask for that they didn’t have, or if they didn’t have it they got it within an hour or so. Had
several overnight stays with my mum and they would always accommodate. They all loved my family and treated everyone with dignity and respect. If I’d ever had to use a care home nearby there would only be one. The Bridge of Weir Care Home. If I could give them a million stars it wouldn’t be enough. You are all the best at what you do, so from all the family a big tremendous thank you. A very happy family.
Reply from Claire Mcluckie, Home manager at Bridge of WeirThank you so much for your wonderful review. It was an absolute honour to care for your lovely mum and get to know all of her family. She was very proud of you all. Best wishes.

January 2024 was a very positive month at Bridge of Weir. Lots of activities for the residents and a generally very settled atmosphere.
The home has a great overall team with each service area working closely with others.
Residents are very well cared for with dignity and consideration for our relative's
needs.
The meal selection and quality have greatly improved with the chef happy to listen to feedback and update the menus as required.

Disappointing. In the two years we have known Morar Living and the 9 months my wife was a resident there have been five managers, and they are now waiting for the third deputy manager to start. Staff morale is poor and care staff turnover high resulting in excessive use of agency staff who are often
there for only one shift and therefore don't know the residents, they are focused on the job, not the person. Morar Living's premises and assurances are good but delivery and communication are poor. I withdrew my wife from Morar Living when specific comments and assurances given by three managers and followed by a fourth were unilaterally broken without prior communication or consultation.

A great team that delivers never-ending patience and excellent care. The liaison with family regarding Mum's care and welfare is very welcome. Food quality and choice looks great and Mum regularly enjoys a glass of wine with her dinner. We understand the importance of security and that staff are busy,
but sometimes takes a while to gain entry, particularly in the evenings. There is a great range of activities and having a cinema room adds to the fun. Mum loves that she can get her hair done regularly and enjoys a manicure every few weeks. The home has a number of lounges that can be booked for special family events and staff are happy to help prepare them. We have complete peace of mind concerning Mum's care and security. She is safe, well looked after and that makes the family very happy.

My mother has been in this care home for over a year. The staff are generally friendly, helpful, compassionate and caring to Mum and to other residents whom I observe being cared for. Her room and bathroom are of a good size with lots of her own items surrounding her which is important. The food isn't
always to Mum's taste but this can happen as everyone has different tastes. The activities have taken a while to get off the ground but hopefully, this will improve-staff changes are the main reason for this.

My mother moved to Bridge of Weir from hospital. She wanted some TLC and that's what she got. Sadly she was only there for 2 weeks before she passed but those 2 weeks provided lovely quality time with Mum in beautiful surroundings surrounded by caring and friendly staff. In 2 short weeks, she grew close
to them and was happy and relaxed. I couldn't have wished more for Mum to spend her last weeks in Morar providing me with special memories of our time together.
Reply from Kirsty Summers, Resident Relations Manager at Bridge of WeirThank you very much for the lovely feedback, I will be sure to pass this on to our team at Bridge of Weir.

I feel it is very important to write this review. Our mum had been a resident at Bridge of Weir Care Home since September 2021. We knew Mum was enjoying her new home and blossomed. Mum was involved in numerous activities which were encouraged. Mum was 96 years young and was always ready to give something
a go. Every time we visited, Mum gave us an update on what they had all been up to and the many laughs that they had. Mum also made lovely friends with other residents. After Mum returned from three weeks in hospital, the staff, as always, were beyond fantastic with her and her care. During Mum's last few days, my brother and I sat with Mum and we experienced first-hand the care, love and professionalism of all the staff, what we saw exceeded all our expectations, thank you. Sadly, Mum passed away on Sunday. We cannot thank the staff enough for everything that was done for Mum and for making her so happy.
Reply from Karen Armstrong, Care Home Manager at Bridge of WeirThank you from myself and the team from Bridge of Weir for the positive review of our service. In particular, the recognition for the staff, demonstrating their professionalism, commitment and hard work. Mum will be sadly missed.

On our endeavour to find a nursing home for our mum, we visited and were most impressed by Morar Living. The manager was super efficient and left us totally in awe of her and her staff. In just two weeks of Mum being a resident, she has a much better quality of life. The staff are so attentive and have
even had her up and dressed and integrating with the other residents. Her end-of-life care has been phenomenal! We cannot rate the staff highly enough.

During December 2022 my 96-year-old mother was admitted to hospital from the home suffering from flu and spent three weeks in hospital. As a result of staffing issues, hospital staff were unable to provide the personal care my mother required, particularly assistance with her meals and she went downhill
fast. As a result, I pressured for her release and return to the home. Since her return, the staff have been exceptional in the care they have provided and my mother's strength has improved immensely. I can't thank everyone enough for giving our mother back to us, as I firmly believe she would not have survived had she not returned to the home when she did.

My aunt was in failing health. The staff communicated regularly with me and the GP. She was supported to receive visits from her friends and also supported to eat in her room or with others in the dining room - her choice. My aunt and her carers clearly had a good relationship and I always felt she
was treated with respect and dignity. Communication with me was excellent at the end of her life and I felt supported.

My artist father is very happy in his new home at Morar. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly, professional staff, who have done so much for him already. For example, he was encouraged to have his treasured oil paintings in his room with him, hung by the staff, which has helped replicate the
same ambience as home and create a comforting and familiar atmosphere for him, instantly. This is hugely important for him and has allowed him to settle in within a week. He is enjoying having so many friendly faces about and staff pop in to talk and look at his work, as well as look after him, when required. The staff genuinely care about him already and are spending time getting to know him, listening to his stories and including him in the activity classes, which he enjoys. The standard of care is exemplary and the facilities are luxurious. Thank goodness we found Morar, for this stage of his life.

We selected Morar Living, Bridge of Weir for respite care for my husband as they made us feel reassured that they could meet his needs. The home was lovely and fresh. The staff were very friendly and would engage in conversation and fill me in on what my husband had been doing and anything he needed.
Lots going on to entertain the residents. Fantastic experience and one that we will use again.

While we and Dad would rather that he had been able to continue looking after himself, I do feel that we have made the best choice for him in picking Morar. The home itself is lovely. Dad has a spacious room and when you visit, there are stylish but homely private lounges to sit and chat in, along with
a family kitchen to make yourself a drink. The most important thing to us though are the staff. They all seem very friendly and caring. Last weekend, Dad was with us for the day and when we were leaving after taking him back in the evening, a staff member came up to say goodbye to us and said she would go and have a cup of tea with him and hear all about his day. Dad isn’t too interested in joining in group activities yet, so this sort of individual attention means the world to us. The manager is approachable and friendly and gives you confidence that the place is well managed.
Reply from Liz Campbell, Care Home Manager at Bridge of WeirHi Alison, thank you for your review. Your dad is definitely his 'own man' and continues to join in activities when and if he feels like it. We will never pressure him to join in, but we know he certainly enjoys one to one time with the staff and enjoys each and every visit with his family. Stay safe.

I am very pleased with the level of care my mother is receiving. The staff are very caring and friendly and want to help in any way they can. The care home itself is brand new so it is very modern, clean, and fresh. It is very well designed for elderly residents. The manager is excellent and is always
available to answer any questions you may have. There is a cinema within the facility plus a lovely hair salon for residents to have their hair done! The activities director always has fun events planned each week, so there is always plenty going on to keep the residents busy.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.628)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.628) out of 10 for Bridge of Weir is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.653 for Bridge of Weir is calculated as follows: ( (209 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (13 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 259 Ratings = 4.653
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bridge of Weir is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 registered maximum number of service users is 14.8, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
