Pitreavie Castle Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My dad moved into the home in August. He had been in for respite care at Easter and enjoyed the experience enough to decide to move in on a permanent basis. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. Any hiccups have been dealt with smoothly and efficiently. The management team seem to know
what they are doing and are always approachable. Dad has enjoyed several days out and has recently been able to return to a club he went to before he moved to the home. The food is generally good, although he would like the veg to be cooked for longer! The rooms are lovely and kept clean. Handrails were added in the bathroom to aid his mobility. The laundry is returned timeously, and there is a variety of activities for residents to join in should they wish. The ambience of the home is such that visitors of residents are welcomed as friends. The bistro offers a communal space where we can chat together.

We as a family cannot express how amazing abbeygate manor has been.
Mum came in two weeks ago on end of life, and we are talking the ambulance that took her there had to stop a few times as did not think she was not going to make it.
Since she has been in Abbeygate the care she has received has been
more than outstanding, it's a miracle and what they have been and done for our mum/nanny.
The care she is getting is the best I have ever seen, not only for mum but for us the family.

Our mum has been a resident at Abbygate for almost 2 months. It was difficult for her to start with, as she had been independent for many years, but after a few falls became very frail and loving on her own was no longer an option. Mum has a lovely roo, with ensuite and patio doors that lead onto a
patio. The staff are wonderful and treat mum with respect and dignity, and nothing is ever too much trouble. Any issues are dealt with promptly. She has her hair done at their salon every week, and a chiropodist is visiting her this week. Mum looks so well now, and it's a pleasure to visit her, she's more like the mum we used to have. Mum/we no longer have to worry about her being alone at night, someone is there at the press of a button. We are all delighted with her care. It's like a 5 star hotel. Many, many thanks.

Mum was in respite in Tantallon from end of August until October & settled so well alleviating all of our fears. This was mainly due to the staff being so welcoming & most importantly treating Mum like an individual.
She loved her room & her view & she came to look at her placement as
home.
Minimal issues were sorted out quickly & efficiently with management being very easy to approach.

We were extremely vexed to have had to move Mum onto residential care & thank everyone @ Tantallon so very much for both welcoming us as a family & keeping Mum safe x

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our experience of Abbeygate Manor has been outstanding, from the moment we looked round the care home, right up to our family member being admitted has been excellent. The manager was so kind, thoughtful, understanding and caring. This was a difficult decision for us as a family, and all the time the
manager and his team helped, reassured us, which is what we needed. Without a doubt, they made the transition so much easier. The care home is so different to most in the area, a modern, no-smell, no clinical feeling, making it feel far more homely. Nothing has been too much for the manager, he has made calls to check we are ok as he knew we was very upset with this move. We cannot thank him and his staff enough. Would highly recommend.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
In June, we moved my dad into Langham Manor for palliative care. He was there almost 2 1/2 months before passing and unquestionably, we had extra time because of the care and love he received. The caregivers were exceptional! They were so kind and respectful. They talked to my dad and told him funny
stories. They made him smile. Their spirit and humour made for a wonderful atmosphere. For us, they were a shoulder to cry on, our strength and always reminded us to eat on the long, hard, emotional days. The entire staff were excellent! Understanding and nothing was ever too much trouble. The food was exceptional quality! The rooms are spacious and always kept clean. I had complete trust in the medical team. The special touches of homemade birthday cakes were lovely. We came to Langham Manor at quite a sad time, but somehow they made it okay. They were wonderful and we couldn't be more grateful. We felt their kindness, their love and my dad died peacefully and with dignity. Thank you.

I cannot thank all the staff at Escan Manor enough for the care they are providing Mum. My father was her main carer but the situation at home became increasingly fraught due to mum's dementia. Eventually Dad was persuaded that moving in to a care home was the best option for Mum. They have been married
for 76 years so not an easy decision. From the initial meeting with the manager (thank you) I was reassured that this was the place for Mum. The whole family can't believe how welcoming, caring and friendly everyone we have met have been. Dad visits everyday and is made to feel so welcome and cared for too. This is care above and beyond and we all want to thank you so much for making a difficult situation so manageable. We particularly like the small units where there are many little rooms that you can go into should you wish. It really feels like a cross between a really nice hotel and a "home" . Just wow, and heartfelt thanks to all. We should have done this month's ago!

how he is getting on .I also get a monthly call from the nurse with a review on his care and asked if we have any issues.
For a short while the lack of an activities coordinator was I felt detrimental to the residents well being . The appointment of the new person has raised the general morale in the home ( residents can be a tough audience)

Overall we are very happy with the staff and care provided in Harbour House

I had the most amazing experience with all the wonderful staff at Langham Manor, The carers/nurses etc went above and beyond and us as a family are so very grateful. I will never forget the way we were treated here, The support, care and compassion was second to none and I genuinely want to thank every
single one of you from the bottom of my heart. I never expected the level of support, going above and beyond and making our family feel so welcome and at home. Shame about the circumstances but they made my mother's last days dignified and the manager offered incredible support during our short journey. It was nice for my mother to be around friendly faces, In her home town and knowing she was in safe hands. Me and my family can't thank you enough and will certainly make sure you get the recognition you deserve.

Townsend Manor

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Townsend Manor is a recently built care home with modern facilities and a range of activities designed to stimulate the residents. My mother is cared for on the upper floor along with residents of similar age and condition. She is happy with the meals and facilities and loves being able to furnish her
room with her own things. Opportunities to exercise by walking, especially outdoors, are limited on account of the small garden. The building has no integrated AC, and rooms upstairs, especially on the sunny side of the building become unpleasantly hot on sunny days, requiring curtains to be closed. Attempts to mitigate this with fans were only partly successful. Professional staff are all very pleasant and seem highly competent. Carers are attentive enough during the day, but i.m.o. spend too much time on their phone and are insufficiently attentive to residents needs during the evening shifts when supervision is lacking, resulting in some safety issues and potential loss of dignity.

My mother moved to Abbeygate Manor as her previous residential care home was not able to provide the nursing care she was going to need.

It is brand new with beautiful interior design, furnishing and facilities and has a bright, friendly and welcoming feel. My mother was able to have a nice ground

floor room with a little patio.

All the staff are really wonderful. They provide all the help and support my mother needs at this point in her life with compassion and understanding, for which I am extremely grateful to each and every one of them.

Communications are excellent and I am kept fully informed about developments regarding my mother's care. The management are very open and available to talk to about any concerns or suggestions and have been responsive to adapting things to meet her specific needs.

I visit regularly and Abbeygate Manor is somewhere I am happy to spend time and equally confident when I leave that my mother is being well looked after.

I have found that the facilities and environment are very relaxing. The residence is always clean and tidy and the staff are always friendly and helpful. They have a good relationship with my brother and I have personally found them to be helpful, welcoming and approachable. There are often events on

My father's wedding ring disappeared and no-one seemed to care. They made all the right noises at the time but I had to push continually for any information as to where they had looked and what they were doing. Now they have washed their hands of the whole thing.
I am not confident that, if it is discovered,
it will be returned.
They said this is the first time it's ever happened but, I hear from another of the relatives that it isn't.
Appalling!!
