Tantallon House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The lovely team at Tantallon House have provided my Gran a safe and welcoming home when she was no longer safe to stay in her own home. She is the healthiest she's been in years, and while being in her own home would be her preference, I am comforted in knowing this is where she is safe, and importantly,
made to feel adored.

I visited Squadron Manor to enquire about the possibility of placing my father there, and I was impressed. It is a beautifully building with lots of facilities for the residents. But what impressed me most was the staff who showed me round and those I met on my visit. They were all very caring, interested
and helpful - it gave me confidence that my father would be well cared for there.
We have chosen another care home for Dad, but only on the basis of geography - this was my first choice if he was to stay in the area.
I would definitely recommend everyone looking for a care home to visit Squadron Manor.
Reply from Barbara Alison, Home Manager at Squadron ManorThank you so much for your kind review, and appreciate you taking the time for your positive feedback. We wish Dad all the best in his new home.

This is a brand new care home with no review so far but I can highly recommend it. Although my mum was only with them for just over a week she could not have been looked after better, all the staff, nursing and admin were brilliant. The nursing staff were so so kind and patient with mum and the admin
staff helped me navigate the system and was very knowledgeable and guided me throughout. I had looked at 5 other homes before deciding on this one and it was definitely the right decision
A big big thank you guys
Reply from Barbra Alison, Home Manager at Squadron ManorThank you so much for your kind review and for taking the time to share your experience with us. It truly means a great deal to the whole team.

Although your mum was only with us for a short time, we're very grateful that you chose our home to care for her. Our nursing, care, and administrative teams all work very hard to provide compassionate, supportive care while also helping families navigate what can often be a difficult and emotional time, so it is wonderful to hear that you felt supported throughout.

Your comments about the kindness and patience of our team will be shared with them, as feedback like this really does mean a lot.

Thank you again for your recommendation and trust in us. We wish you and your family all the very best.

Tantallon House

from K B (Daughter of Resident) published on 5 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Dad moved into Tantallon House at the end of January 2026. He was welcomed with such warmth and friendliness by all the staff. Everybody introduced themselves to Dad, and he was made to feel as part of the community, rather than just a number. It took Dad a few weeks to settle into his new life at the
care home but I think the main things that contributed positively to his settling were - the staff being so understanding of his condition (Dementia), treating him with dignity and respect, really listening and seeming interested in what Dad had to say and trying their hardest to make sure Dad had everything he needed. I had been caring for Dad myself and felt very nervous about 'handing him over' for someone else to look after. But the transition has been smooth and I know Dad is happy, and most importantly, safe.
Reply from Crystal Soriano, Home Manager at Tantallon HouseThank you for trusting us with your dad's care. It is a privilege to support him, and we look forward to continuing to provide a happy and safe home for him at Tantallon House.

Escan Manor

from J D (Daughter of Resident) published on 4 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mother was one of the first residents in Escan Manor when it opened two years ago. There have certainly been quite a few staff changes - but I feel I have to praise how the care home has moved on in the last few months.
My Mother may be heading for end of life, and the staff have gone above
and beyond with the care for Mum and the support offered to our family. Some of these staff have been loyal to Escan through the changes in management and other staffing issues over the last two years. I hope Morar Living reward their staff accordingly and value their contribution towards what will hopefully be recognised as a 5 star care home. I believe CQC have recently attended and I do hope they publish the revised findings promptly - which must be good to outstanding based on how it is now. We certainly have no complaints and are very pleased Mum has had this time in her life at Escan Manor. Thank you.

Hermitage House

from Mairi C (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
It was a huge and heartbreaking decision to move my dad, who has alzheimers, into 24 hour care when we could no longer safely care for him at home. However, staff at Hermitage House have been incredible with both my dad and the wider family and the change of circumstances has actually become a positive
experience for us all.
Despite resistance from my dad initially, he's settled really well and I believe this is down to the lovely, caring attitude of all the staff we've come across. It's clear that his care is provided to a really high standard and staff work really hard to make him feel valued and respected. There's lots of activities/social opportunities for him to join in with which was really important for us and has helped him to feel happy. The home itself is beautifully presented and very clean and most importantly the staff are excellent at what they do. I couldn't have asked for a better environment for my dad.
Reply from Lynn Cumming, Manager at Hermitage HouseThank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience.
We are delighted to hear that you are happy with the care and support provided. Our team works incredibly hard to create a warm, safe and welcoming environment, so your feedback truly means a lot to us.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
It is such a difficult decision to move a beloved parent into a care home but the staff at Hermitage House really put my mind at rest. A lot of attention is put in for people with dementia including a sensory room that dad enjoys (it doubles up as a nice quiet sitting room), books with old photos of
local areas, baby dolls and a pram. There are lots of staff around all the time and everyone has gone above and beyond in making dad welcome and reassuring us too. When he fell ill it was picked up by nursing staff and handled appropriately which is a weight off our minds.

Rooms and grounds are beautiful. Menus are appetising and having seen the food it looks as good as it sounds. Also little mini bars in each wing so residents and visitors can grab snacks or water when they need. Whenever I see staff with other residents I see them talking kindly and with genuine warmth.

I was so happy to see my dad at Morar the difference in him in just a few days was very impressive. Previous to him arriving there we all thought he didn't have much longer to live. From the first day he was more alert and looked very happy, after 4 days on, he is loving life again. The nursing care
here is impressive. From the manager on to all the rest of the staff they go above and beyond with his care. For the first time in months, we feel happy when we leave because we know he is well cared for.
Reply from Stephen McLachlan, Sales and Marketing Executive at Morar at St AndrewsThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. Your words truly mean the world to our team.

We are absolutely delighted to hear about the positive difference you've seen in your dad in such a short time. Seeing him more alert, happy, and enjoying life again is exactly what we strive for every single day.

Our nursing and care teams are deeply committed to providing the highest standard of care, and your recognition of the manager and staff going above and beyond will be very much appreciated by everyone here.

It is especially meaningful to hear that, for the first time in months, you feel happy and reassured when you leave. Supporting not only our residents but also their families is at the heart of what we do.

Thank you for trusting us with your dad's care - it is truly a privilege to look after him.

My husband has been in Morar @ St Andrews for a few days, and the improvement in his mood and physical ability is amazing from 2 months of suffering elsewhere; he now says he feels safe. The care is exceptional. The comfort is also 5-star. The manager and staff go above and beyond to see that my husband's
needs are met fully. Also, the same applies to mine and my families. At last, I can breathe again, and I am absolutely confident that when I leave, he is in excellent hands.
Reply from Stephen McLachlan, Home Manager at Morar at St AndrewsThank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful words. It truly means a great deal to our entire team to hear about the positive difference your husband's stay at Morar at St Andrews has made.

Early days as my Aunt has only just moved in but I already have a great sense of relief that she is being very well cared for. All staff have been exceptional at helping her settle in to one of the Nursing rooms. We have visited every day, at different times, and always found Auntie clean and freshly
dressed despite being bed bound. There is a lovely friendly feel to this home from the moment you walk through the door. Staff go out of there way to introduce themselves and they all seem to enjoy there work. I have already witnessed great genuine tenderness being shown to my Aunt especially as she has been so distressed at this move into a home that can meet her nursing needs.
Reply from Sarah Ward, Home Manager at Townsend ManorThank you so much for your kind review.
We're delighted to hear that your aunt has settled in well and that you've felt a sense of relief during what we know can be a very emotional transition. Moving into nursing care is a significant change, and supporting both residents and their families through this time is extremely important to us.
It's wonderful to hear your feedback about the team. We take great pride in ensuring residents are treated with dignity and compassion at all times, and your comments about your aunt being well cared for, clean, comfortable and shown genuine tenderness mean a great deal.
Creating a warm, friendly environment where staff take the time to introduce themselves and build relationships is something we actively encourage, so we're pleased this has been your experience.
Thank you again for placing your trust in us to care for your aunt. We look forward to continuing to support her and your family.

Unfortunately Townsend Manor is seriously let down by the HO in Scotland. There is no support and no communication. The fee increases are absolutely ridiculous. It seems like they get your loved one in and then put the price up massively. If you don't agree with the increase your numerous complaints
remain unanswered. If you chase for a response to complaints you still get no answers, it's like you don't actually exist .... then they take you to court even though you have never had any response from them! I have never experienced such a terrible company. Townsend Manor seems to always be short staffed, they keep advertising for carers. Shame because they do have some good staff and the care is good and many staff members are local which is nice. The Manager is at a total loss - she passes on feedback and concerns to HO but she is ignored too! I would steer clear of anything to do with Morar Living!
Reply from Manager, Management Team at Townsend ManorThank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
We're sorry to hear that you feel frustrated and unsupported. We understand how upsetting concerns about fees and communication can be, particularly when they involve someone close to you.
Fee reviews are carried out in accordance with agreed contracts and reflect rising operating and staffing costs across the care sector. They are necessary to ensure we can continue delivering safe, high-quality care. When concerns are raised, they are logged and responded to through our formal procedures. Where matters become formal, communication must follow regulatory and legal processes, which can sometimes feel impersonal.
Like many providers, we actively recruit to maintain safe staffing levels and strengthen our team. We are proud of our dedicated local staff and pleased that you recognised the quality of care being delivered within the home. Our Manager and team remain committed to supporting residents and escalating feedback appropriate

Selecting a service suitable for family members is a difficult choice. My family have been at Marina View for nearly a year. The facility is well managed, offers extremely competent nursing care, is scrupulously clean and offers a well cooked varied menu. Caring staff are genuinely interested in their
residents. Marina View offers that little bit extra when it comes to resident experience. All residents are given the opportunity to travel in the mini bus on excursions, there are monthly dine and entertainment evenings that involve family members, a buzzing exercise and activity schedule and an inspiring art/craft programme delivered by a graduate artist. This is my second review and nearly one year in I have absolute confidence in the management and delivery with in this facility..
Most importantly I am able to visit anytime of day. No appointment times. No preamble.
Five stars from me.

My wife is well served and looked after but the management company is far from being approachable and accommodating. The fee increases are also never explained or casted. Morar Care Group Uk Ltd not a good company!

My mother has recently moved into Escan Manor and we have been very satisfied with the care received, surroundings and activities. We are working with them on a couple of minor things, one is wearing of name badges which is important for new residents and those with dementia and for following up with
relevant staff for feedback; the other is around GP appointments and feedback of results and if visits actually occurred. All the staff are very friendly and interact well with all the residents from what we have seen.
