My Mom has been a resident in Castlehill Inverness since December 2020,in the almost five years she has lived there she has received the very highest standard of both professional and compassionate care and as her son i have always felt well supported by both the young staff who care for my Mom as
well as the management team

Facilities were not offered but what they have on site and could offer, is good. Rooms are good size and set out well. Care home is beautiful. That's the positive. Unfortunately the 'window dressing' is where it ends in my experience.
Care staff did not follow the care plan. He was not treated with
dignity, respect or in accordance with his wishes/preferences. He was placed at risk of injury and was often in distress because staff did not appear to have the skills or knowledge to support him. Infection protection and control guidance was not followed. Staff practice and behaviours including that of management toward resident and myself as his legal representative did not align with professional codes of conduct. I had to involve adult support and protection. I complained to the care regulator regarding this and all of my complaints were upheld. There is currently an improvement notice served on the home.

I removed the resident and he is doing better.

From day 1 my sister was given the best of care - she was bedridden and could not speak but the staff excelled in catering to her every need and often anticipated what she wanted before we did. I have experience of other care homes in the area and this one is by far the most superior. Relatives are
welcomed and so well looked after by every member of staff.

From January 2023 - March 2024, my mum was in the care of Castlehill and throughout her time there, she was treated with great care and dignity. Every member of staff from domestics, kitchen, carers, nurses, activities, handymen and administration to management were great, friendly and very approachable.
Days leading up to my mum passing, I received that same care and consideration. I will be forever grateful that my mum was a resident at Castlehill Care Home. She was very lucky to have been there with such lovely people.

As a friend of 2 ladies who are residents at Castlehill and one of the ladies now having "end of life care," I would just like to say how impressed I am at the care being given. It is definitely "gold star service." The staff at all times are extremely caring, welcoming and just wonderful.
I cannot
praise all the staff enough and in my opinion it is an extremely well-run establishment. Thank you to all the staff.

My mother was in Castlehill Care Home for the past 2.5 years, her care was excellent during all that time. The manager and staff were cheerful, friendly, professional and easy to speak to if I had any questions regarding her well-being. She was treated with dignity and respect from when she arrived
until the day they walked her out the door on her final journey. I honestly cannot recommend this care home highly enough.

My grandmother spent her last two years of life at Castlehill Care Home and we as a family knew that she was safe and was a very happy and peaceful resident there.
The staff were just incredible through the entire process, from Grannie arriving, her care and after she passed. I will always remember
being offered warm apple crumble when I had an emotional moment at the home. Thank you Castlehill Care Home.

My aunt was placed in Castlehill and we could not have been more delighted with the live care support and attention shown to her but also to us as a family during her 18-month stay.
My aunt experienced the best quality end-of-life care to the very finer details of the staff walking her from the home
when she went to be at peace.

We found the care received by Mum during her stay in Castlehill Care Home to have been excellent. The carers were kind and sensitive and Mum was treated with respect. They knew her well and were compassionate when delivering care.
When Mum moved in we could have done with more information (e.g. we
got stuck inside when we stayed late visiting). Also, when phoning it was sometimes difficult to get someone to answer the phone. Sometimes asking for feedback was unsuccessful.

The care home is absolutely first-class. The decoration, furniture, facilities and cleanliness are out of this world. The activities coordinator who organises the residents' activities is wonderful, so helpful. She brings my mother-in-law's daily newspaper for her every day on her way into work. The
senior nurse is so lovely and so approachable and you can see home much she cares about the residents. She is brilliant with my mother-in-law and you can easily see how much my mother-in-law likes her. All in all, the staff and management are all very caring and approachable.

Castlehill Care Home provided outstanding care for our mum who needed respite care at very short notice. Not only did they liaise with the hospital to organise a smooth transfer but they supported Mum with hospital appointments without hesitation.
The amazing decor and varied range of foods were an
additional bonus, as well as the visiting hairdresser each Monday.
The staff were always extremely professional and nothing was ever too much hassle. If you are looking for outstanding levels of care, this is a top choice.
A huge thank you to an amazing team of caring and dedicated professionals!

My mum was a resident of Castlehill Care Home for almost two years. The care my mum received during her time there was fantastic. The staff all really cared and they looked after her very well in the various stages of dementia. The food was excellent and varied.
I am demanding of standards and never
once had to ask for something to be done better.
The care app was fantastic, especially during the restrictions. The peace of mind it gave me was very good.
The property and quality of furniture etc. was of the highest order.
Staff retention levels were very good in such a demanding sector. Well done to all at Castlehill. You should be proud of the service and care you give to residents and their family.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.835)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.835) out of 10 for Morar Highland is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.233 for Morar Highland is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.233
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.602 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Morar Highland is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.6 = 0.227
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
