Acknowledging that the client found it very hard initially to be so far from home, she did settle down to the care home routine. The support from busy carers was to be commended. The client grew attached to the care staff and was well looked after. Covid has been a challenge to the care and I'm appreciative
of the team's efforts.
Reply from Nicola Donald, Care Home Manager at Morar HighlandThank you Michael for your kind words. It was a pleasure to look after your dear friend and we loved meeting you too.

I visited a friend of mine who I had not seen since before the pandemic, due to not living locally, and I was pleasantly surprised at the zest for life she seems to have since moving in. She is cheerful and smiling and can’t praise the staff enough.
I was met by lovely staff both at reception and
again by the staff working on the floor who my friend said was lovely.

The home's overall appearance is of a five-star hotel!
The staff seem very caring and interested in the residents. It is a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere and there is no smell of urine, which I have experienced in other homes. I would be more than happy for my brother to have respite care here.
Thank
you for looking after my brother.

Difficult to understand limited visiting times - even after Covid-19. Difficult to access without the short visiting hours permitted. Phone sometimes not answered and therefore no access given.
Care seems good. Just staining on chair and marked walls surprised me but care seems good.

My dad recently stayed in Castlehill Care Home for two weeks respite and from the moment we entered the building we were met with a friendly, warm and reassuring welcome. All the staff are amazing and my auntie said 'it was the best care home she had ever visited'. Thank you so much for taking such
good care of my dad. Can't sing your praises enough!

Mum moved into Castlehill Care Home on the 3rd November 2021, she enjoyed life in the home and was treated like royalty by the staff. She soon made friends and enjoyed meal times where they would sit and put the world to rights. The care and nursing staff looked after Mum with a friendly smile, kind
words and showed such compassion towards her until the end.

Having been transferred to Castlehill Care Home from my flat due to ongoing problems, I can say without reserve I have been looked after admirably by members of staff. I have received the utmost care and attention. I am classified as severely disabled due to problems with my legs. I can only, if marks
were applicable, that I would give staff a full 100% (without hesitation).

My grandma received amazing care from all the staff at Castlehill Care Home. She spent just under a year there before she sadly passed, after being given very little chance of surviving even a few months, but she flourished under the care of the staff, enjoying bingo events, making friends with other
residents and attending day trips with her family. In her last few weeks she was very well cared for, never left alone and every request was fulfilled (even if staff needed to go to the shops to get the request). We will never forget the kindness myself and my husband were shown as we spent nearly three full days at the side of Grandma before she passed, the staff made sure we ate and slept as well as possible. Covid restrictions limited our time with Grandma, understandably, over the past year but Castlehill did their best to make up for that when we were allowed to visit. We miss Grandma dearly but know she was treated with dignity, even in death, and her last year was filled with fun, joy and love!

My mum has been in Castlehill Care Home since April of 2021. Initially, it was for much-needed respite for me and it soon became clear to us all she would need to stay. Initially, I found everything very traumatic and emotionally challenging. This process was made much easier by the kindness of all
the staff and in particular, the manager was very accessible, helpful and reassured me that Mum was fine.
Mum has been so well looked after and given that she has a number of challenging issues following a stroke and then the onset of vascular dementia, it is clear each time I visit that staff are well aware of Mum's limitations and difficulties.
Recently, I have had to ask the carers to come to my assistance when visiting Mum and each time I have witnessed wonderful interactions with Mum. They clearly know her well and how to help. Each one being calm and kind and taking time to help when I am very aware of how busy they are.
What a wonderful team!

My mum received excellent care and attention from the manager and all her staff during Mum's respite stay.

Due to current Covid restrictions, there have been few activities which is understandable.

My mother was a resident in Castlehill Care Home for only a short time, and the care she received was excellent. All the staff I came across from the welcome at the door, the handyman and all the carers were so caring. Knowing that my mother was so well cared for eased the concerns of all the family.
The home is so well presented and all the staff so cheerful, and nothing seems a bother to them. I would highly recommend this home to anyone considering long term care.

I was a charge nurse in a large hospital, my standards were very high, as required by the hospital. The standards in Castlehill Care Home are excellent. Residents are well cared for in a friendly atmosphere. They are shaved and have clean clothing in place, as they should be. I just want my brother
cared for with the essentials of everyday living in place since he can not do this himself.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.835)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.835) out of 10 for Morar Highland is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.233 for Morar Highland is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.233
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.602 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Morar Highland is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.6 = 0.227
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
