Dad came to Castlehill in July 2020. We have found the staff to be professional, caring, friendly and endlessly patient with dad, and us. We can access dad's care plan online and see details of how he is on a daily basis. The manager is extraordinarily approachable and it is easy to raise concerns,
big or small. Dad's key worker has got to know him well. Nursing staff are quick to notice changes in his physical and mental well-being and liaise with the doctor. The activities co-ordinator is a bright light in dad's day. The maintenance man has been so patient in helping dad with his tv etc. Dad's room has a door which leads directly into the garden so he can easily get outside, which is very important to him. He is very enthusiastic about the food and really enjoys the meals. There have inevitably been some issues but when we raise them they have been dealt with effectively. We are very thankful that dad is in a place where he is being cared for so attentively and with such kindness.

Following a long illness which has involved complex nursing needs, it was an extremely sad and difficult situation to decide that mum required 24-hour nursing care in a supportive and caring environment. Castlehill has afforded an extremely high level of care having close contacts with the Hospice and
GP in managing mum's levels of pain effectively. The manager has been excellent in facilitating specific care needs for mum, in addition to communicating regularly with myself and my brother. This client focussed ethos is equally reflected through her nursing team, where the level and compassion is so apparent. Castlehill affords a wonderful environment which is both comfortable and welcoming whilst individual rooms are reflective of the resident's needs and wishes in the promotion of homely comforts. It is so reassuring that mum has settled in so quickly and developed great relations with the staff.

My Gran was resident in this care home for a number of months prior to her death.
She was very frail when she went into the care home and all of the staff showed her care, compassion and love during her time.
We found the manager approachable and friendly keeping us all informed throughout her stay.
Lovely care home.

Nobody likes placing a loved one outside of their home environment, but the reality is that we often have to do so for the sake of our loved ones. My Mum moved into Castlehill mid-2020 and we have been extremely pleased with the care, comfort and attention that she has been given. The home came highly
recommended from the local hospice, and we are extremely pleased with our decision to use Castlehill. Mum's medication and medical needs are dispensed by caring staff, who take the time to laugh with our Mum and listen to her stories. All of Mum's needs are being addressed and it is a good feeling to know that she is safe, comfortable and well cared for when we have to leave after visiting. A special call out to the Care Home Manager who has the personal touch needed to make this truly a home.

My Mother has been a resident since March this year. I live a considerable distance away which obviously causes visiting issues. I am delighted with the online care control system which allows me access to how my Mother's day. I managed to visit her in October a few times by appointment. I feel very
welcome by staff and observed great empathy and care to my Mother. The care home is very clean and warm. My Mother's room is very spacious with lots of natural light and amazing views. I am very satisfied with the care my Mother is receiving. I feel well informed by staff regarding any changes in my Mother's care. I have visited other loved ones in care establishments over the years and believe this care home to be the best I have ever visited.

After my mother had suffered a series of falls living at home that required hospital treatment it was clear that mum needed full-time care. Having had previous experience with other care homes with my father's requirements for care I was very critical of how Castlehill care home would go about my mother's
needs. Luckily before covid had started and the home had just opened its doors I had been given a full introduction and walk around of their facility and was amazed at the superb layout, fantastic facilities and panoramic views over the black isle and moray firth. The rooms are spacious, bright, very modern with large en-suite shower rooms. My mother is now a resident in this superb facility and very happy, the staff are so compassionate and understanding of my mum's needs and are only too happy to accommodate any of my requests for my mum. I am just so glad Castlehill care home opened as it is in a class of its own.

My parents are both residents at Castlehill. My mother has been poorly for years and she was cared for by my father. Following my dad's dementia diagnosis, we made the decision to move them to Castlehill so that they could be cared for together.
I have very high opinions of both the staff at Castlehill
and the building itself. My parents have different needs and they are cared for in a very professional, yet tender and caring way. My mother is bedridden and unable to communicate, yet the staff treat her with so much dignity and respect and for that, I am truly thankful. My father has different needs, including mobility issues and the staff are just brilliant with him. The team there manage all of his medical and welfare appointments and keep me informed of his progress.
The building itself is immaculate and has the feel of a hotel rather than what you would think of traditionally as a care home. A truly fantastic location. Oh, and my dad raves about the food!

My mother went into Castlehill Nursing Home in Jan 2020 very frail in a wheelchair with terminal cancer. Within 4 -6 weeks, she had gained weight and was able to walk unaided. This was due to the exceptional care that she received in the home and nothing was too much trouble. My mother went downhill
very quickly in July and staff continued to give her excellent care and sat with her 24/7 until she passed away on the 5th of August. They extended her life expectancy and gave the opportunity to have more time with her grandson for which we are truly thankful.

My darling dad needed care and I cannot recommend the level of care he is receiving at Castlehill. I live in Australia but I can see his care plan every day. Sent his pictures, video clips and the peace of mind this has given is impossible to put in words. It has taken the pressure off juggling time
zones to ask questions and maintain contact with him. Mum feels the pressure she has been under has eased and we can both share “oh dad had a game of dominoes or a walk in the garden today”. The transparency of care is fantastic. He is not in a regimented care environment and I truly believe this chapter in his life will be as good as it can be. From day one staff have been professional, supportive and caring. The staff have listened and addressed issues as they arose from medication to organising a trip to the dentist. Thank you.

What can I say other than 5-star care and attention to my late Nana! I managed to get her out of hospital after a fracture to her elbow and into the care home as she was not able to go home and look after herself after her injury. She loved the home as soon as she got there, her en-suite room was stunning
and very comfortable with all her personal things at hand, which made it like home. The staff were amazing to not only nana but me and my kids also. They helped with all nana's needs, nothing was a problem, day or night. She said the food was absolutely delicious, and even if you didn’t want what was been cooked they would accommodate you. But suddenly nanas stay was short-lived, only 3-weeks, she had of enjoying her new home as she kept saying, her heart gave in, devastation for us all, but yes she had a good life she was 90-years-old. All the staff did her proud in there care, all I can do is praise them all for there hard work and kindness to me and my nana. Thanks.

Having tried for as long as we could to keep my parents together at home this no longer became achievable and following professional advice we sought to find them a care home. Within days the staff from Castle Hill came to my parents' home to carry out an assessment. They could not have been more pleasant,
helpful and patient. It was fantastic to hear they could accommodate my parents together. Within two weeks my parents had moved in. Prior to this we were all encouraged to visit the home which we did. Fantastic in showing us around and answering all our questions. My parents have settled in now. The place is spotlessly clean, and the food of a high standard. Sadly shortly after my parents moving in Covid-19 restrictions applied and we have not been able to visit. The staff have been brilliant in keeping us updated, and one member of staff in particular has been outstanding in her care for my parents. Regular activities, haircuts and lots of fun. VE Day activities were tremendous.

Mum is currently in Castlehill for some well-deserved Respite. My dealings from start to finish were of the highest standard. We were watching closely for you to open as mum stays very close. I dropped in one day before the opening as I spotted a car parked outside. The Manager was in and she very
kindly took the time to show me around the beautiful new premises. I won't say Care Home I prefer to say Residence. It is modern, classy, bright, spacious. Beautiful dining areas, light with fabulous views. Tasteful Decor, several private areas for family visits. First floor dining area has a covered spacious balcony that we can pop out onto safely to look at the fabulous views and get fresh air.Bedrooms/en-suite both spacious allowing room for mum to move around safely with her Zimmer not knocking into everything. Bedroom door stays open as mum enters and leaves. Fabulous, professional, friendly efficient Team of staff. Thank you all its a delight to visit and communicate with you.

The atmosphere, staff, food, management and the building are just top-notch. The outside space and inside design is well thought out, and attention to detail is impressive. Every inch in terms of dementia care is forward-thinking and what we were looking for. My father-in-law is seen as an individual
and a person. The care and understanding towards us as a family, also at this difficult time by the management as a whole was just outstanding.
After reviewing a number of places, as a family, we're so thankful this care home opened when it did - some things all align at the right time. Nothing prepares you for the difficult decision of a loved one going into a care home and all that goes with it. But finding this place that genuinely cares is a real gem, and for the first time in a long time, we can start to relax and know our loved one is safe and being looked after according to their wishes. My father-in-law is very happy, and that means the world to us.

Current Review Score: 7.8 (7.835)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.8 (7.835) out of 10 for Morar Highland is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.233 for Morar Highland is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.233
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.602 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Morar Highland is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.6 = 0.227
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
