Everything I have seen and experienced at Morar St Andrews has been outstanding. I could not imagine a more comfortable, welcoming, and wonderful home for my mum. The staff are clearly dedicated, and highly capable of delivering respectful, compassionate care-but Morar goes above and beyond. There is
genuine warmth and humour, and I truly feel that my mum is loved and cherished here. Food, activities (and indeed all aspects of care) are being thoughtfully tailored to mum's own needs, wherever possible, and as a result she has developed a renewed sense of fulfilment. The wonderful staff have helped bring a big smile to my mum's face and a twinkle to her eyes. Knowing that she is so settled and happy has made an immense difference to my own life too-and I could ask for no more.
Reply from Stephen McLachlan, Home Manager at Morar @ St AndrewsThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We are truly honoured by your kind words and delighted to know that your mum feels so settled, happy, and cherished at Morar St Andrews.
Our team is deeply committed to providing compassionate, person-centred care, and it means a great deal to hear that the warmth, humour, and individual attention shown have made such a positive difference to both your mum's life and your own. Your feedback will be shared with the whole team, who will be incredibly proud to know the impact they have made.
Thank you for trusting us with your mum's care - it is a privilege to support her and your family.

Minimum of care standards not met, complaints from October still awaiting investigation including waist strap on chair not fastened. Unexplained injuries not investigated, hydration levels below minimum levels two thirds of the time according to records sent by email, injury from uncut nails days after
we highlighted this and the care home said nail cutting was their responsibility. Diet not consistent with level 5 and 6 causing risk of choking. Being left in a state of undress for hours, not being moved frequently enough to protect skin. Complaints raised repeatedly from August to December about the care plan not being followed. Eventually we moved dad due to ongoing issues.

My mum is very happy in the home and importantly I feel she is safe. I have been in several times each day for the last week and the staff have been nothing but caring towards the residents and are always attentive towards their needs.
My only observation is at busy times and weekends they do seem
to be overworked and there doesn't appear to be enough staff. This can have a knock on effect for mealtimes which has been late for most days and can upset the routine of the residents
Reply from Maurice Long, Regional Manager at Pitreavie Castle Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. I was very pleased to hear that your mum is happy at Pitreavie, and that you feel that the care staff are attentive towards residents needs.
I appreciate your concerns regarding staffing, which has been addressed with 8 new staff commencing employment in the last two weeks, with a further three awaiting completion of paperwork prior to taking up employment.
Further to this, our new home manager took up post this week, and is looking forward to meeting all the relatives when they visit Pitreavie over the next couple of weeks.

My dad moved into the home in August. He had been in for respite care at Easter and enjoyed the experience enough to decide to move in on a permanent basis. The staff are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. Any hiccups have been dealt with smoothly and efficiently. The management team seem to know
what they are doing and are always approachable. Dad has enjoyed several days out and has recently been able to return to a club he went to before he moved to the home. The food is generally good, although he would like the veg to be cooked for longer! The rooms are lovely and kept clean. Handrails were added in the bathroom to aid his mobility. The laundry is returned timeously, and there is a variety of activities for residents to join in should they wish. The ambience of the home is such that visitors of residents are welcomed as friends. The bistro offers a communal space where we can chat together.
Reply from Management Team, Home Manager at Pitreavie Castle Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such lovely feedback about your dads experience at our home. Were delighted to hear that he enjoyed his respite stay enough to choose to move in permanently that really means a lot to us.

Its wonderful to know hes settled in well, enjoying his days out, and even getting back to his club. Our team always aims to provide a homely environment where residents can continue doing the things they love while feeling supported and cared for.

Your kind comments about the staff, management team, and the atmosphere around the home have been shared with everyone theyll be so pleased to know their efforts are making a difference. And weve noted your dads feedback about the vegetables too!

Thank you again for your thoughtful words and for being part of our community. We look forward to continuing to make your dads time with us happy and comfortable.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother-in-law moved into the care home in April and over the past six months we have been extremely happy with every aspect of her care. From the very beginning, the staff supported us through what was not an easy decision, and we are deeply grateful for their kindness and guidance. They are the
most thoughtful and compassionate people, always responsive to her every need, and nothing is ever too much trouble. They treat her with dignity, warmth, and humour, while being sensitive to her wishes and providing a true home from home. Regular, thoughtful activities are offered, yet they respect her choice to join when she feels comfortable. The food is lovely, her physical health is carefully supported, and her emotional wellbeing is always nurtured. As a family we feel reassured and included, with staff keeping us updated about every aspect of her care. Most importantly, our mother and grandmother is happy, at peace, and in the very best possible place.
Reply from Home Manager, Management at Pitreavie Castle Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful and thoughtful feedback. We're truly delighted to hear that your mother-in-law has settled in well and that you and your family feel reassured and supported. Our team takes great pride in providing compassionate, person-centred care and creating a genuine home-from-home environment, so your kind words mean a great deal to us all.

It's lovely to know that she is happy and at peace - that's exactly what we strive for every day. We'll be sure to share your comments with the whole team, who will be so pleased to hear them.

My mother-in-law was welcomed into pitreavie castle in January2025 with dementia. She has been cared from by all staff with kindness and compassion from the minute she entered this beautiful nursing home. She choose her own room looking onto the castle and rabbits running around the grounds which she
loves looking out her window every day too. It took a few months for her to settle in but she loves it now, as like her own home which she feels safe and secure. The grand children loves visiting her which they relate to as "grans hotel". Everyone is made welcome and encouraged to visit and join in at all the activities and events. I would highly recommend this nursing home to anyone.

My gran was a resident here from the end of last year until she died last week. She was treated so respectfully and lovingly the whole time, we really couldn't have asked for more. She regained her confidence and freedom since moving in, being taken for activities and spending time with new friends.
The food was always good and the place very clean. During her last few weeks we knew how well she was being cared for and it was a great comfort in a difficult time. All staff - from carers and nurses, to the handyman and the cleaners - were very kind and genuinely cared, for which we will always be grateful. She was able to spend her last few weeks and days in a place she was comfortable, rather than having to go into hospital which she never wanted to do. It was the best decision for her to move in, it gave her an extra year of living. The dignity and respect with which she was treated after she died can also not be understated. Thank you to all the stuff.

My husband was admitted to Pitreavie Castle Care Home in August. On arrival you are made feel very welcome. The building is very modern and elegant and visitors are offered tea, coffee and home made cakes free of charge in the Bistro daily. There are no issues with parking when I'm visiting as there
is a large car park and the grounds are beautiful.
The staff are kind and welcoming, from those in the office, nurses, carers, cleaners and handyman. This kindness rubs off on the residents and makes them feel more secure in their environment.

The manager and deputy manager are kind and could not be more helpful. I
It also boasts a hairdressers, a small cinema and various sitting rooms with the choice of where the residents want to watch TV and have their meals.
Their deputy manager is an asset to them with her dedication to her job. She is a thoughtful kind lady with a great sense of humour. There are outings and entertainment for residents.

My parents moved into care home in Dec '24.
As with anybody it took them a little time to integrate into their new surroundings.
All carers and staff are very friendly, efficient and approachable.
The home is spotlessly clean. Laundry is done and returned fresh and ironed.
Meals, snacks and cakes
are excellent.
Lovely outside area for residents to gather and sit outside on our rare sunny days.
Highly recommend.

My mum moved to Pitreavie Care Home in February & has settled in relatively quickly, thanks to the excellent team, beautiful food & 5* surroundings! The nursing/care staff are so attentive & I have such peace of mind knowing that mum is safe & being well looked after. The new management team are enthusiastic,
approachable & helpful with any queries I may have. Reception & all the background team are also very friendly & efficient. There is always a nice atmosphere when I visit.
Activities are up & running with plenty more ideas in the pipeline. The residents have enjoyed day trips, a choir at a local church, weekly coffee/chat mornings & visits from nursery children. Activities within the home include bowls, quizes, dominoes, entertainment & Mothers Day Afternoon tea. It was lovely to see the residents outside last week enjoying the nice weather. There is plenty of outdoor seating in a sunny, peaceful setting. Flowers & herbs are being grown in the garden.
Highly recommend!
