Having previously left a great review, I'm disappointed to update on issues which have now arisen. Lots of the care here IS great, & staff are great too.
However I need to warn others that serious issues have arisen & to be vigilant about these aspects of care of your loved one.
We had issues with
staff unable to attend to dad when he was crying out in pain. On that occasion staff had their young children at work with them so couldn't meet dad's needs.
(I agreed not to make a formal complaint at that time)
Now, three new complaints have been upheld by the Care Inspectorate regarding issues with unexplained bruising & administration of medication.
After several requests for a written response to the upholding of these complaints, Morar have now dismissed them as "minor".
No apology and no explanation provided.
I'd expected Morar to take the issues seriously, as previous complaints about the same issues have also been upheld.
Just be aware. CI website shows details of all complaints.

Thank you for your most recent feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and are glad to hear you have previously had positive experiences with our service. The wellbeing of our residents is, and always has been, our highest priority, and all concerns are addressed promptly.Following the Care Inspectorates complaints inspection on 23 July 2025, they confirmed your father was well cared for, with only minor areas for improvement around documentation, which have been addressed. The Social Work review on 12 August 2025 was also very positive and reinforced confidence in the care provided. Our team remains committed to delivering compassionate care and will continue to strive to meet every concern raised.

I was sole POA for my aunt and regret putting her in this care home. Would not recommend. Even with our families frequent detailed input nothing ever changed. For 2 and a half years we asked for black coffee instead of milky tea, never happened. We were promised baths and not showers, never happened.
Weekly live church service, never happened. My aunts teeth deteriorated rapidly as oral hygiene seemed to be non existent as toothpaste lasted around 6 months. Thick black coating on tongue. Finger nails were frequently dirty. Even after 2 joint visits with social work, nothing changed. We were repeatedly told by staff our requests had been added to the care plan. They had been yes, but weren't adhered to. We paid for her hair to get set fortnightly, only for staff to shower her the next day so hair untidy again. We asked to speak to my aunts key worker one day, the carer said she would go and find out who it was, only to return and say 'oh it's me'
So disappointied. Had such high hopes.

Im disappointed to receive a second review from this family, especially so long after their loved one sadly passed away. While I fully acknowledge that BOW Care Home had issues in the past, this account does not reflect the care we delivered during her time with us or the improvements made over the past year. Since becoming manager, Ive worked hard with the team to raise standards and ensure residents' individual needs are met. It was a privilege to care for their great aunt she was a truly lovely lady and I remain fully committed to providing respectful, person-centred care.

Our family had a fraught relationship with this nursing home throughout the 2 1/2 years that my great aunt stayed there. Basic things like processes and procedures for looking after clothes and personal effects were ineffectual. Instructions regarding care were not followed and despite numerous meetings
and agreements to address this, staff were either unwilling or insufficiently well trained or supervised to maintain the agreed standards. End of life care proved particularly fraught with very low regard being shown to basics like regular hydration and oral hygiene and attempts to address this only met with lip service responses. Following her death, communicating with the head office to obtain refund of monies due was difficult and responses were slow and inadequate.
Care homes have a difficult job to do but this one should and could have done much better. Once the initial decision on provider is made it is unfair to relocate. I wish i had looked under the covers and further afield

Thank you for your feedback following the passing of your relative - a truly lovely lady who sadly died in January. We extend our condolences. During her time with us the team worked hard to provide consistent and compassionate care and remained responsive to your families frequent detailed input. Concerns about end of life care are taken seriously, though our records, and audits do not reflect the issues raised. Staff followed agreed plans and upheld clinical standards, even amidst complex family dynamics. Our team recalls a different experience, with gratitude expressed at the time. Its disappointing that this reflection has come months later and appear centered around delays in the refund process, which is managed by Head Office and is dependent on 3rd party payments which are often delayed by several months. While this is beyond our control, I would have gladly supported had I been approached. We wish you and your family all the best.

My mum joined Morar living at bridge of weir in February and I can't believe the change in our mum. The team have made us all feel so welcome and show so much care and respect for our mum. They really know how to bring the best out in our elderly parents and I am so impressed by the level of care
and attention they give to mum. I didn't want my mum in a home however the Morar team have put my mind at rest and gave me a chance to be a daughter again and not my mums carer. The pink ladies are amazing and the home manager and her team should be proud of what they do. Love to all

I cannot thank the staff at Morar Bridge of Weir enough for the exceptional care they have provided to my mum since she arrived. From day one, they made her feel so welcome, and the support they've given has been outstanding. The communication through the app has been incredibly reassuring for our family,
as it allows us to stay updated.
The cleanliness of the facilities is impeccable, and the entire environment is warm and inviting. The staff, from managers to domestic workers, have gone above and beyond to make mum feel comfortable and cared for. They've really taken the time to understand her needs and ensure she feels at home.
The activities they offer have been fantastic, giving mum the chance to socialize and stay engaged in a way that has made her feel more settled. It's such a relief knowing she's in a place where she feels at home. We are all so reassured by the excellent care, and I can't recommend this care home enough. Thank you all for your dedication and compassion

This is the second time my husband has been in respite care with Morar. He has an annual visit of three weeks while I visit my daughter abroad. He has Parkinsons' dementia and has had the very best of care on both of his
visits and this year was welcomed back by staff who remembered him from last year.
I found this so encouraging and reassuring as the staff are happy to be working for the company so avoiding constant turnover. He was visited by his sister in law regularly who was amazed at the constant activities which always involved him and which he was happy to be part of. To know that your husband is safe and in a very happy environment makes your time away such a precious space and time to recharge the batteries! I can't thank the staff enough and obviously am eternally grateful for the respite care which is now like gold dust.
(A very happy wife)

The management and staff at Morar Living, Bridge of Weir are kind, professional, caring and treat residents and families like their own family. The team ensure residents are treated with respect at all times and that makes my journey less traumatic, seeing my husband cope with dementia. I have the utmost
respect for all the caring staff who have a very challenging job. The manager has an open-door policy for families which is unheard of in these times.

I have been staying at Bridge of Weir Care Home since December 2023 and wanted to say how content I am. Everyone on the staff treats me really well and the whole environment is superb. They go above and beyond to make sure my every comfort and needs are met. From the outset, they took the time to get
to know me and to understand what my individual preferences were and regularly check with me that I am happy with the service they are providing. Their personal and caring approach has made a huge difference to me; to my style of living and my freedom to get involved in events and activities and "do my own thing". I feel very safe here and that all aspects of my retirement could not be catered for any better. It truly is an exceptional place to live.

My auntie has lived at Bridge of Weir for six months now and it is like having my auntie back again, she is living her best life, making lots of new friends, taking part in the morning exercise class. The stress and worry we, as a family, had before my auntie moved in is night and day.
The management
team are fantastic and very approachable, the member of staff on front of house always has a smile and a coffee (the real stuff) for everyone coming in to visit. The activity team make activities that spark my auntie's interests, which was a challenge but they listened to her life and used her experiences so she enjoys life again.
The nurses and care staff are brilliant, they spend time with my aunt, encourage her to remain independent but support her when she struggles. Domestic staff keep her room clean and tidy, kitchen staff give her meals she actually likes with lots of snacks and treats. I can not sing their praises enough. Thank you to all the staff, from myself and all of our family.

Mum has been a resident at B.O.W. since Sep 2023. I wanted to thank the entire team at Morar for the exceptional care they provide to Mum.
Mum is always treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. All staff go above and beyond to ensure Mum's every comfort and needs are met.
They have taken the
time to get to know Mum as an individual and cater to her preferences. This personalised approach has made a world of difference in Mum's adjustment.
B.O.W offers a wonderful environment. We as a family especially enjoy the beautiful quiet lounge areas where we can reminisce with Mum over a coffee and a piece of cake. I am particularly impressed with the focus on resident independence. The staff encourages Mum to maintain her own routines as much as possible, which is so important for her well-being.
Thanks to Bridge of Weir Care Home, Mum is happy, looked after, and thriving. I have great peace of mind knowing Mum is in such capable and caring hands. This is an exceptional care home.

My dad has been a resident since Oct 2022.
The care home has gone through a lot of staff changes. From February 2024 there have been big changes and have been driven by the new management team. The manager and her deputy are excellent and a credit to the company.
Permanent staff now provide the care,
communication is excellent and an open door policy to family and residents.
The restrictions for visiting times have all been removed and family and friends can visit at any time.
All the departments that help the care home function are tremendous and work as a team and if anything my dad needs to change all you have to do is ask and it is done.
I write this review and I am fortunate that I can visit my dad every day and can honestly say from when he first arrived in October 2022 the care home is now functioning as how I would want care provided for my dad and all the departments within the care home are excellent.

I don't get down as often as I like. However, on my most recent visit, I was hugely surprised and pleased by the changes that have occurred, my uncle seemed more content than ever and engaged with the surroundings. There is a definite change in atmosphere and a buzz about the home. I noticed changes
such as plants on the balcony, making the area a much more pleasant place to sit and enjoy. My uncle loved the singer and piano player that had recently been and performed. The care has also improved and my aunt sang the praises of the management. Previously, there were issues in getting the right care and getting anything done. The new manager is approachable and seems to be able to achieve what she says she is going to do, my aunt's words, I never met her however she was in on a Sunday and I believe she was sorting out the plants. For me, I definitely felt and saw a positive change in everyone at the home, staff and residents all seemed more lively and certainly, my uncle seemed in fine spirits.

My mum got into Bridge of Weir care home and it’s been an absolutely fantastic place for my mum who is at the end of life. The manager and all the care staff have been fantastic, there’s nothing you would ask for that they didn’t have, or if they didn’t have it they got it within an hour or so. Had
several overnight stays with my mum and they would always accommodate. They all loved my family and treated everyone with dignity and respect. If I’d ever had to use a care home nearby there would only be one. The Bridge of Weir Care Home. If I could give them a million stars it wouldn’t be enough. You are all the best at what you do, so from all the family a big tremendous thank you. A very happy family.

Disappointing. In the two years we have known Morar Living and the 9 months my wife was a resident there have been five managers, and they are now waiting for the third deputy manager to start. Staff morale is poor and care staff turnover high resulting in excessive use of agency staff who are often
there for only one shift and therefore don't know the residents, they are focused on the job, not the person. Morar Living's premises and assurances are good but delivery and communication are poor. I withdrew my wife from Morar Living when specific comments and assurances given by three managers and followed by a fourth were unilaterally broken without prior communication or consultation.
