Mum moved into Tantallon House at the end of January 2026 when it was obvious that she could no longer look after herself at home. All the staff have been very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. They have been very quick to respond to requests. Mum has settled in well and enjoys the view of North Berwick Law from her room.

The lovely team at Tantallon House have provided my Gran a safe and welcoming home when she was no longer safe to stay in her own home. She is the healthiest she's been in years, and while being in her own home would be her preference, I am comforted in knowing this is where she is safe, and importantly, made to feel adored.

Dad moved into Tantallon House at the end of January 2026. He was welcomed with such warmth and friendliness by all the staff. Everybody introduced themselves to Dad, and he was made to feel as part of the community, rather than just a number. It took Dad a few weeks to settle into his new life at the care home but I think the main things that contributed positively to his settling were - the staff being so understanding of his condition (Dementia), treating him with dignity and respect, really listening and seeming interested in what Dad had to say and trying their hardest to make sure Dad had everything he needed. I had been caring for Dad myself and felt very nervous about 'handing him over' for someone else to look after. But the transition has been smooth and I know Dad is happy, and most importantly, safe.

Reply from Crystal Soriano, Home Manager at Tantallon House

Thank you for trusting us with your dad's care. It is a privilege to support him, and we look forward to continuing to provide a happy and safe home for him at Tantallon House.

Mum was in respite in Tantallon from end of August until October & settled so well alleviating all of our fears. This was mainly due to the staff being so welcoming & most importantly treating Mum like an individual.
She loved her room & her view & she came to look at her placement as home.

Minimal issues were sorted out quickly & efficiently with management being very easy to approach.

We were extremely vexed to have had to move Mum onto residential care & thank everyone @ Tantallon so very much for both welcoming us as a family & keeping Mum safe x

My husband has been a resident in the dementia unit since May this year. I have nothing but high praise for all the staff who are looking after him so well, with great gentleness and concern. The carers are always so kind, friendly and always smiling. They have shown me concern when I find myself having a difficult day coping with the situation my husband is in.

Very friendly when you arrive, also well secured so family are safe in their home. Rooms are kept clean and tidy all the time. Also loads of things to do here like pool table and cinema and other games and activities. Food plenty of choice. Only issue is when no one at front desk cant get in as family dont get number to enter.

We are delighted with the standard of care that Mum has received at Tantallon House. The staff are caring and helpful and everything has been done to a very high standard. It is wonderful to see Mum enjoying trips out and about again. It has been lovely to see her smile and sense of humour return due to the fact that she is getting so well looked after. She feels safe and very well cared for. The Activities team go the extra mile in providing activities to suit a range of interests. Mum's room is spacious and comfortable. It is great that there are a variety of spaces to use when visitors arrive. Visitors are always made to feel very welcome by the staff. Staff have all been super supportive right from the start of moving Mum into the home...both to Mum and myself. Thank you so very much.

My husband has only been in Tantallon House for four weeks and in that time, we have come to know what an exceptional place it is.

All the staff whatever their role, are warm, friendly, welcoming and approachable so that any query, problem or question that arises is dealt with promptly. The building is light and bright beautifully maintained, with so many dedicated areas - quiet rooms, games room, cinema, even facilities for private family parties. The residents' rooms are spacious and well-furnished and being able to personalise their rooms with items from home has helped my husband to settle in. He has been made to feel very comfortable and enjoys the excellent meals provided. The family very appreciative of the care he is receiving, and we know we made the right decision when we chose Tantallon House.

Mum has settled in so well to her new home.
All the staff and residents have made us all feel so welcome. Often she doesn't have time to see me as she is out for a picnic lunch, or a woodland walk! There are always engaging, stimulating and thoughtful activities planned and lovely quiet spaces to sit with a coffee too.
It gives me such peace of mind to know that all the staff know my mum and are so friendly and caring.
I feel very at home myself when I visit with my little dog at all times of the day, and am made to feel like part of one big family which is so important. Mum calls it home already and really enjoys all the good quality meals. She can help herself to fresh fruit salad in the morning and afternoon, but can also be tempted by the cake and ice cream trolleys that come round too.
I feel very lucky that Mum is getting to spend this phase of her life is such a lovely calm caring stimulating environment.

Thank you

Tantallon is not like any other care home, it has a hotel feeling to it. It's very welcoming and bright and extremely clean. The residents rooms are lovely and spacious too.
The communal living area also has a lovely welcome feel about it and it's not too cramped.

My mother moved into Tantallon House from hospital on 15th November. The transfer went smoothly and she has settled into the residence well.

My husband spent the last 6 weeks of his life at Tantallon House, where he was treated with incredible care and compassion. The staff went above and beyond, not only for him but for our entire family, giving us support and space to be by his side in his final days.

Choosing a place for a loved one's final weeks or months is such a difficult decision, but as a family, we are grateful to have had Tantallon House on our doorstep. We couldn't have chosen a more comforting, caring place for him.
