Hello, my name is Evan and I am the General Manager of Potters Grange. I am a registered adult nurse and have been working in the Health and Social Care Industry for the last 11 years.
I began my career in nursing in the Philippines as an Adult General Nurse before moving to the UK.
I have a wealth of knowledge and experience gained in different health and social care sectors including; Nursing and Residential Homes, Mental Health services, Research Centre and Hospital wards (A&E, Rehab unit, and haemodialysis).
I have always built a close and strong working relationship with residents, always thinking of them as an extension of my own family. I believe kindness and warmth should always be the centre of the care that we provide.
People may forget the things that you have said and done, but they will never forget how you made them feel.
I enjoy supporting people and supporting my team, to ensure that the service we provide is to the highest standard
I am very excited to lead the Potters Grange team and together we will deliver our care ethos by providing a non-judgemental, non-biased, person centred care to all residents.
Hello call me Jools
I previously worked at The Marbrook Centre in St Neots for the last five years which is a Neurological Rehab Centre before joining Potters Grange as Receptionist. I am here to support each and every resident and their families in any way I can.
Outside of work I enjoy my garden very much and love growing some vegetables and planting my pots. I live alone with my daughter and my gorgeous white long haired cat Bob who is a real character. I love eating out and meeting up with friends and big family get together are always a blast!
As a Senior Nurse, I am part of Potters Grange in house Nursing team, here so you can call on my skills to keep you well and prevent any unnecessary hospital visits.
As Head Housekeeper for Potters Grange, I lead a team that prides its self on its high standards of cleanliness and attention to detail.
I have worked in housekeeping for around six and half years and enjoy it very much, as I love to be around people.
At a young age I have always had a keen interest in cooking and used to bake every weekend with my father, so from an early age I knew that I wanted to be a Chef.
At 15 I enrolled in culinary school and completed my NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery and ABC Level 2 in Patisserie. A year later I started my career in hospitality as a Pastry Chef, working in a 2 AA Rosette Restaurant Here I would help with developing new and unique recipes to feature on the menu, as well as prepare desserts for weddings and other events for up to 400 covers.
At the age of 18 I moved into care as a Deputy Chef Manager, here I learned quickly and made my way up to Head Chef in under a year. I developed menus for the Home and for the Day Centre, incorporating the dietary requirements of all residents and customers, into daily meals. This meant working a lot with the IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) scale for modified foods and thickened liquids, as well as fortifying foods for those needing to increase or maintain their weight.
“For me it’s really important to learn the likes and dislikes of my residents and incorporating this into the IDDSI framework, to not only make sure our food tastes nice, but to also look appetising!”
As a Chef, I always want to learn new things, so I decided to take the plunge back into hospitality as a Sous Chef, so I could widen my experience. I stayed for 2 years gaining more experience, when I saw the advert for a Head Chef at Potters Grange, a role I instinctively know was perfect for me.
Here at Potters Grange, I am blessed with a state-of-the-art brand new and well-equipped kitchen. As a team at Potters Grange, we really focus on a person-centred approach.
“This for me personally this is a privilege, as it enables me to build a relationship with each resident, centered on food. In my time here at Potters Grange I feel we have gained a real sense of family and our good meals prepared from fresh local produce is at the heart of it.”
As Potters Grange is home to a maximum of 20 people, this family like understanding makes it a lot easier to meet every individual’s needs and requirements, which means residents not only get the meals they like, but they are cooked just the way they like it as well!
