Overall Experience

My father was placed in the care of Nightingale Court recently, following some difficult months living at home. To our surprise, he settled immediately and without fuss. We attribute this, in large part, to the care he has received at the home. The staff, from top to bottom, are compassionate, caring and competent. The home itself (which is purpose-built) is very well laid out. It is bright and clean and the facilities are excellent.

My mum has been a resident since June 2022. I live abroad so it was imperative that I found a care home that I was confident in ensuring my mum would be looked after without concern for her welfare.
Mum had a lovely welcome when she arrived at Nightingale Court. The rooms are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. The food is outstanding with a lovely choice.
The carers and management team are very hardworking and you are always greeted with a smiley, friendly face and made very welcome.

Can thoroughly recommend Nightingale Court for your loved ones.

I would not find anywhere better. I have been mornings, lunchtimes, afternoons and evenings. Lovely, caring and kind staff. My husband is always clean, the room always smells nice. You would not find more caring staff, always smiling.

My mum moved to Nightingale Court in February this year and I could not have received any better help and support from the Manager and every single member of staff. My mum is 93 and was hoping to end her life in her own home and sadly this was not possible. The Manager has worked tirelessly to ensure she settled which has involved all the staff going over and above-expected care levels as she has been very demanding during the last 6 weeks trying very hard to get sent home by being very difficult.

I cannot explain the joy of visiting the home yesterday to find my mum in the lounge singing away with the lovely musician entertaining the residents. During the last 6 weeks, all staff have tried very hard to settle her in and helped her socialise and she was having none of it but their hard work has paid off and she is settled and happy, and this week has had all her pictures from home put up in her bedroom. The cleanliness and the standard of food is excellent. 100% satisfied.

On behalf of the whole team thank you for your kind words. Your mum is a wonderful person and we are so pleased she has joined us at Nightingale Court. It's lovely to see your mum joining in with the activities.

This review is for today, as well as two previous occasions.
Why is there never anyone at the reception desk? Today I visited to see a friend, I could hear the manager in her office to the left chatting away, however, I rang the doorbell on three occasions, obviously leaving time between for someone to let me in. After a period of time, I had to leave without being let in as no one was able to attend to the doorbell, including your manager. This has happened before also, although I was finally let in, but after a long period of time.

I have visited on all occasions and never asked to sign in, which doesn't bother me, but on two occasions a male manager (who let me out the exit door) asked if I had signed in and on saying no, appeared really hacked off with me. Perhaps that said manager or the female that can't move from her office today would like to leave the signing-in book within view when I am being taken through the double set of doors! Man your reception for goodness sake!

Reply from Stephen Geach, Director at Nightingale Court

Our bell was found to be broken, but unreported. We have now taken measures to connect it to the Nurse Call system under 'Front Door - immediate response required'. It was very unfortunate. The receptionist sometimes has to leave her desk to assist in matters around Nightingale Court, and leaves...

I have been visiting, weekly, my friend of over twenty years in Nightingale Court. The staff have always been very friendly and informative and in the early days of my friend's stay have made her feel as comfortable as possible during a difficult time for her adjusting to care home life. They excelled, however, on the occasion of her birthday. A room was made available for me to decorate and five friends attended the birthday party. We were served tea and a beautiful birthday cake was brought in. The staff couldn't have been kinder and helped when it came to leaving by welcoming my friend into the care home lounge where she was serenaded by a singer. The staff and residents had already sung 'Happy Birthday' to her. I know she really enjoyed the day and this was only made possible by the care and help of the home, where she is looked after so well.

Having had no experience of the process, we were concerned about moving dad into care. We needn't have worried! The whole team at Nightingale Court have been totally amazing. Not only have they given us reassurance every step of the way, but have also gone out of their way to get dad settled in and comfortable. It's a big change for him, but the staff have worked really hard to make him feel at home. Everything from making sure he has his porridge just the way he likes it to changing things round in his room - nothing has been a problem or too much trouble. From the wonderful (and always smiling) carers right through to the management team, everyone has reassured us that dad is now safe, happy and being well looked after.

Computer sign n for 3 of us was an easy and efficient method with assistance if needed. We were asked before even entering the facility whether we would like refreshments, what a first good impression.
Safety and security were paramount and with lots of helpful, caring and friendly staff everywhere. They were very attentive to their patients with good interaction at all times and they were like friends to us too.
The home is modern, very clean and organised.
We enjoyed a hot drink in the lounge with our relative singing along and dancing to a lovely man with a guitar. It was actually fun and our relative, well we haven't seen her look this well for a long time. She seems so happy here and very well looked after.

This facility is exceptional and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.

Looked for Mum to get respite care but needed to stay in care permanently. Contacted the team and booked a visit; they were so understanding of our circumstances. Happy to advise us, and we were made to feel part of the Nightingale Court family. We have been contacted with updates on Mum's health issues, and helped us become family members instead of carers. Nothing is too much.

Fantastic! excellent! - Cannot fault this care home at all, my Dad is treated like a family member and not a resident. Big spacious and lovely garden and they can cater to individual needs including family members nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Always smiling and happy to talk through any concerns. All food is locally made on site and is very tasty - family can eat here too. Dad is so happy here and has changed from an angry resident wanting to escape his last home to not wanting to leave here. They do loads of activities and the recent summer garden party was so brilliant with live music, mocktails, food and face painting. Keep up the great work so happy you're looking after my Dad x

Can I just say what an excellent service is being provided here. We have been at previous care homes, and this excels by far. The team were very helpful and welcoming. We were even invited to join our relative for dinner, which was great. Would definitely recommend. Well done Nightingale Court.

We highly recommend Nightingale Court, you could not find a better place for someone you really care about. Our friend and us were very nervous about him going into care but we needn’t have been. The home itself is superb and the staff, facilities and food are excellent. We have not seen our friend so relaxed for a long time.

Lola TorzsaJob Title:Registered ManagerJoined: 2022

I started working for the company around a year ago, initially joining as Head of Care. From here, I have grown and progressed within the Home, working my way swiftly to the position of Deputy Manager, before, more recently, being promoted to Home Manager.

I have worked in the Care sector for around 9 years now, starting my career as an agency carer, motivated by a personal circumstance that helped me realise my passion.

I enjoy caring for the elderly, especially those living with Dementia, as I feel strongly that no one's quality of life should be compromised based on their cognition.

I aim to make sure that everyone who resides with us is provided with the highest level of care and feels safe in their environment.

I am proud of Nightingale Court and the team who work here, who are all striving towards a shared goal of respecting the wishes and preferences of our residents.
