Hi, my name is Catalin and I am the General Manager at Falmouth Court.

I am originally from Romania where I graduated from Generalist Nurse College as a Generalist Nurse and worked as a nurse protecting children with disabilities. I have a passion for supporting care teams and have responsibility for overseeing the resident care at Falmouth Court.

I’ve always been very caring and empathic and interested in how every person can be unique. I am very passionate about high-quality care using my clinical knowledge to develop the carers I lead. I learned during my travelling the importance of contributing to people’s quality of life from residents to my colleagues including the difference quality care can make.

I have also studied Theatre and Arts. Being passionate about the arts I feel lucky to hear and learn about our resident’s stories, which makes them who they are. It’s a privilege to be part of their story. As I like to say, every one of us is a book, and every person you meet is a chance to be a better you.

Hi, my name is Grace and I am the Deputy Manager at Falmouth Court.

I’ve been working in the care industry for over 10 years, I studied my level 5 in health and social care, alongside working in the community.

I’ve always found being a carer a job no one can describe. No two days are ever the same, but the feeling you get when helping someone is a feeling that never changes.

My passion for caring comes from my beautiful gran, who taught me the meaning of caring and respect.

I look forward to knowing every day that I go home, I've made a difference and put a smile on someone’s face.

When I’m not working I like to spend time with my friends, family and my dog.

My previous customer service experience has taken me from Retail Manager to Employment Support Service and then through to the Care sector. Supporting residents, relatives and loved ones in a residential setting is where my heart lies.

When I am not at work you will probably find me out walking near the coast enjoying the Cornwall that I love and grew up in.

A 49-year-old Cornishman, born & bred has worked in the hospitality industry for 33 years. Married my beautiful wife and am lucky to be a dad to three wonderful children.

I started out as an apprentice at the tender age of 16 in an intimate  50  cover restaurant in Lostwithiel, where I was taught the skills required, including baking, butchery, and desserts to name but a few.

Over the next 30 years, I progressed into Hotel Kitchen Management, new start-up restaurants and traditional Inn’s honing my skills using local Artisan businesses and forging long-standing relationships with these suppliers, utilising the best ingredients the county can provide.

I was fortunate enough to become a Head Chef at the age of 22 and have since led and developed various teams throughout my career. There is no better achievement than that of seeing a young apprentice develop and grow into the next generation of Head chefs.

Sadly losing both my parents recently and then caring for my uncle who has now entered a care home setting, I witnessed first-hand the importance of a quality food offering and the effect this had on him. This personal example spurred me on to pursue the next chapter of my working life and led me to employment at Falmouth Court as Head Chef, leading the professional team to produce the highest standards of food for our residents.

Originally from Southeast Asia, where I finished my Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering/Explored more with my expertise in Mechanical Engineering particularly in Hydraulic Engineering. During my time here, I worked for Bosch as a Hydraulic Engineer for 8 years, where I was also assigned as a Safety Engineer at the same time.

Gaining these qualities and skills led me here in the UK where I finished two master's degrees in Engineering Management (MSc) and Occupational Safety Health and Well-being (MSc). With this, I am also an IOSH member. During my master's, I was able to be trained as a plumber and electrician. During these past few years, I worked as a maintenance assistant, then became a maintenance manager in one of the 4-star hotels in the UK.

My expertise allows me to create a safe, comfortable environment for everyone. By maintaining equipment and facilities, I will gladly reduce the risk of accidents to ensure everyone's safety. My hands-on experience enables me to understand the unique needs of the residents, allowing me to make modifications or repairs that enhance their daily lives, whether it involves adjusting lighting for better visibility or ensuring comfortable temperature control.

I look forward to the opportunity to bring my dedication and expertise to this wonderful care home and to support its mission of providing exceptional care for all residents.

Hi, I’m Clare the Head Housekeeper at Falmouth Court. I am a Falmouth girl and went to school at Tremough. I was originally a hairdresser but during the first Covid event I went to Independent Living Accommodation in Northampton as their Head Housekeeper. I decided to return to Cornwall as I missed Falmouth too much.

I will ensure that your room and the building are kept sparkly clean!

Hi, I'm Emma, I'm 49, and have 3 beautiful children 2 of who have flown the nest to university and beyond! I have worked in numerous hotels over the years as a self-employed cleaner and private carer.

In my early years, I studied performing arts, was part of the Cornwall youth dance company and worked with the swamp circus. I love to sing, dance, and juggle...but most of all making people smile always makes my day brighter and hopefully theirs too.  

Hi my name is Karen Kneebone and I've been working at Falmouth Court for 8 months. I started as a Night Care Assistant which I enjoyed very much. I've been caring for 35 years and have learnt so much on my journey meeting some lovely people and there families. I've now joined the Housekeeping Team ready for a new challenge. I enjoy walking Reading Socialising. I've lived in Falmouth most of my life.

I am 64 years of age and have been working in the care industry for 42 years.  I have now moved across to the housekeeping side and am very keen to make sure our residents have a beautiful home. 

I am mum to 4 and have 7 grandchildren. In my spare time, I love gardening and DIY along with socialising with family and friends.  

My name is Lynsey and I was originally born in Penzance Cornwall. I moved up country in my early teens and spent 25 years trying to come back again. I was lucky enough that the opportunity arose last year and I moved down to be with my long-term partner, Andy, who I originally met at primary school. We have just bought a house and I’m loving life and being back in Cornwall.

I have a 12-year-old son called Keiran and love showing him around Cornwall when he visits.

I have done secretarial/admin work for the last 30 years but this is my first admin role in a care home. I really love the job and the staff and residents have made me feel very welcome.

In my spare time, I love being by the sea, reading and knitting.

Hi, my name is Rachel and I am a Senior Night Care Assistant. I have worked in care for 12 years and have enjoyed every moment and will continue to do so. I have a white Staffie called Lexi and I love to take her on long walks to the seafront in the summer. I have 3 sons and 4 grandchildren and enjoy taking my grandchildren to the park although my granddaughter prefers shopping!

Hi, my name is Amy, and I am a Community Lead at Falmouth Court.

I have been working in the care industry for nearly 11 years. I started off working in community care, but after I had my daughter, I moved into care homes.

I have worked in agency care for a number of years, and have worked in both nursing and residential homes and supported living.

When I'm not working, myself and my husband will normally be down by the beach or exploring Cornwall with our 2 children and our dog.

Hello, I'm Clare and I'm a senior here at Falmouth Court.

I started working in the care industry 16 years ago, I've really grown to love my job and find it very rewarding. I enjoy meeting new people and making a positive difference in people's lives, I find the older generation to be the most interesting people with the best stories to tell. 

I was born and raised in Falmouth and when I'm not at work I like to spend time with my 3 children, family, friends and my 2 doggies.  

I am truly proud and very honoured to have been chosen to be part of such a great team here at Falmouth Court.

I have worked in the care sector since 2015 and it is my absolute passion. I love my role as a Care Assistant and making a big difference in someone’s day is such a great feeling; nothing beats it.

I’m Louise, I live in Redruth but am originally from Leicestershire. I’ve lived in Cornwall since 2009. I studied nursing down here and feel very at home in Cornwall. I live with my partner, Patrick and our little son Jacob who is almost two and keeps me very busy. My previous workplaces have included dispensers in a pharmacy, agency care work, and a large nursing home. I love working here at Falmouth Court, such a friendly, warm atmosphere and was made to feel welcome straight away.

Hi, my name is Gail and I am a Care Assistant here at Falmouth Court.

I have been working in care for 12 years. I started in community care with experience in residential care homes, personally assisted supported living complex and a Dementia care home.

During my time, I have found it very rewarding and enjoyable. I have carried out many activities for clients by arranging parties, dog shows and taking my ponies to work. I have also been short-listed for the title of Carer of Cornwall and I cannot wait to welcome all our residents into Falmouth Court.

Along with my love of spending time outdoors, I enjoy reading and writing and I have even attempted my first book!

Having previously worked in hospitality and then making a move into the care sector.  I strive to make sure our residents live their best life.  Making sure each resident is care for individually and ensuring they have the best experience each day.  

Hi there, my name is Beverly Penhaligan and I am a Day Care Assistant at Falmouth Court.  

I have been working in the care sector for the past 20 years, first starting my career in the community.  I moved into working in residential care 14 years ago and have not looked back since. Finding it to be very rewarding.  I am passionate about supporting and providing the best care to our residents. 

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, walking and spending time with my family, especially my 3 grandsons.  

I love my position within such a great and supportive team.  Helping our residents have the best care and ensuring they are living their best life is so important to me. In my spare time, I love to go for coastal walks and in the summer spend time on the beach.  

I have previously worked in catering for 21 years moving to care 3 years ago. I enjoy working at Falmouth court very much being able to provide an excellent level of care in the most beautiful surroundings is very rewarding. The team are so supportive and fantastic to work with. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening and have a passion for baking. I also enjoy coastal walks with my 2 dogs.

I have worked within the care sector for 25 years.  During that time I have provided care in the community, In care homes and also worked at the Royal Cornwall Hospital too. I really enjoy being able to add fun and joy to our resident's days.  

I love walking my dog and spending time with my Grandson. I have also been involved with gig rowing which has been a great pastime.  

I have been a Care Assistant (HCA2) for 11 years and really take pride in providing excellent care to our residents.

Helping them live as independently as possible and ensuring they are living their best life possible. I love photography and am a member of a club in Falmouth. I love to sketch and am also a member of a local sketch club too. I love spending time walking my dog and taking pictures.  

As speak up champion for the home I act as a voice for colleagues to express their ideas, develop new ways of working and a pathway for them to report concerns. I regularly meet with the manager to discuss the running of the home from the colleagues perspective

My name is Chloe and I'm a Day Care Assistant at Falmouth Court.

I have experience working in both Residential homes and Domiciliary care. I started my career as a Care Assistant in 2019.

The thing I love most about working in this industry has to be helping people and making a difference, I believe it's the little things that can make a big difference to somebody's day. Putting a smile on people's faces is priceless and I find helping people incredibly rewarding.

I have 3 children aged 10, 8 and 4. They are my pride and joy and I love being their Mum.

Im also a massive animal lover, I have two dogs, Lola, a border Collie and Nelly, a sprocker spaniel.

I've found Falmouth Court to be incredibly welcoming and friendly, as well as the building itself being absolutely stunning! 

My name is Paul and I have been working in care for nearly 10 years. I have also been in the baking industry since leaving school and am a skilled baker.

I have been married for 29 years and have a son and daughter along with two grandchildren. In my spare time, I love carp fishing and hold the record for the largest carp caught in the Southwest weighing 40lbs 1oz!

Hi all, my name is Julie and I come from a long line of caregivers. My nan who was my inspiration to become a carer and also my mum have all worked in care. 

I'm thrilled to be able to carry on this family tradition in such a wonderful setting as Falmouth Court. I'm kept very busy at home too with two children and 2 cats.  

Hello there, I'm Lauren and I have worked in care for 15 years. I adore my position and being able to help our residents brings me great job satisfaction. When I'm not working I enjoy spending time with friends. In the summer I enjoy going to the beach with my nieces and nephews.  When I can I love the opportunity to go to events and festivals too.

I'm Marilyn and I have worked for Barchester for several years in Cheshire. I recently moved back to Cornwall as I was originally from Helston. I'm thrilled to be able to transfer and continue to provide excellent care here at Falmouth Court. In my spare time, I like to travel and listen to music.

Hi, my name is Lana. I am so happy and excited to have been chosen as part of the care team.

I was born and grew up in Falmouth but moved to Flushing where I brought up my two children and lived there for 30 years. I am now back living in Falmouth with my two Pekingese dogs Edith and Yanna.

In my early twenties, I fronted a band and toured all over the UK.

I then went to college and learnt new skills which led me into Childcare. I did this for 10 years and loved it so much.

I've also worked at our very busy local pub in the village and met so many lovely people along the way
I worked as a Community Carer since 2018 and doing so led me to apply for a role as a carer at Barchester.

My interests are walking my dogs very slowly as they have tiny legs.

Hi, I'm Mikey Wilson. I'm 25 and thrilled to have joined the wonderful kitchen team here at Falmouth Court. I am Cornish-born and bred and have been a chef for 7 years. My cooking experience comes mainly from classic-style cooking and working in pubs. Before joining Falmouth Court I had worked my way to becoming a sous Chef. In my spare time I like to play golf.  I also love to visit different places to eat around the county gaining knowledge and ideas to bring to my own cooking.

I have been a chef for 14 years having previously worked in the local dockyard. Over the years I have gained experience working in local hotels and even in a day care centre all the while expanding my skills and knowledge. I have found this line of work to be very rewarding and am very pleased to have the opportunity to carry this on with Barchester. In my spare time, I like to go fishing both course and sea. I am partial to watching the snooker and a good box set too. 

My name is Mervyn and I am one of your hosts. My vast catering experience has taken me from hotel positions to general hospitality including 22 years at the Falmouth location of Exeter University.

When I am not at work I enjoy increasing my knowledge of history and geography, reading and tending my garden. My joy comes from my family, especially my 3 granddaughters.

I have worked in the catering industry for many years and joining such a fantastic head chef is so rewarding.  I thrive on providing our residents with the best service and always make sure I go above and beyond to make sure they have the best dining experience.  

My name is Karen Burton, I moved down to Penryn from London in July 2019, with my husband and one of two daughters. My Husband was born in Falmouth so we brought him back home. I have embraced my new life here, luckily I have made lots of new friends and enjoy walks along the beautiful Cornish coasts.

I trained as a Hairdresser when I left school and have always enjoyed being creative and loving people.

I have a lot of experience working in a Primary school in London, where I ran after-school clubs for cooking, gardening, School Councils and Eco Council. I ensured the children had fun while they were learning. I aim to help make activities fun and meaningful to our residents. We are all unique in our likes and dislikes so I am looking forward to getting to know our residents at Falmouth Court and providing person-centred activities for all.  

I have taken up painting, and photography and become Programme Secretary for Penryn Camera Club. I enjoy organising the programme of events, trips and photo opportunities for our members.

I am so excited to join the team at Falmouth Court as an activities assistant. I feel very privileged to be able to share my passion and encourage residents to enjoy our varied programme.

Sarah has been a hairdresser for over 30 years and working in care homes for the last 7 years. Sarah is very much looking forward to meeting all our new residents and providing a wonderful service in our beautiful on site hair salon. Sarah really enjoys being the highlight of our residents week when they can get their hair done without having to leave the building. Keep your eyes peeled for some pictures of our beautiful salon coming soon.

Alana is a fantastic Beauty Therapist and joined us when we opened. She offers a host of wonderful, therapeutic treatments which include: Massage’s, Manicures, Pedicures and Facials to name a few - to our wonderful residents.

Alana has worked in Care settings, pampering residents for more than 14 years, and says that she adores her work and the results she achieves. She enjoys talking and listening and enabling residents to feel extra special.

Introducing Matthew from Noah's Ark FootCare Ltd

Matthew Leighton-Sa’id is the Leading Podiatrist and founder of Noah’s Ark Footcare. He qualified at Plymouth University in 2012 obtaining his degree with honours and founded Noah’s Ark Footcare in 2013.

As well as visiting homes himself, Matthew has a team of podiatrists who visit care homes in Cornwall and beyond who aim to achieve the same high standards of treatment and live by the same values as him.

Noah’s Ark Foot Care have served over 70 care homes since 2013 providing fantastic foot care to thousands of people during this time. Matthew and his team love what they do but Matthew’s special interest is in geriatric foot care.

Geriatric foot care services differ from regular foot care services as older people’s feet simply have more wear and tear, which means they are more susceptible to injury and even deformity. These age-related foot problems can lead to people experiencing pain and potentially cause a person to lose some of their mobility.

Matthew is passionate about providing excellent foot care to adults and runs a podiatry clinic on Kimberly Park Road in Falmouth every Wednesday so that he can provide the same high quality foot care to other adults which care home residents receive. He lives in West Cornwall and has 7 wonderful children who take up a lot of his spare time (but he wouldn’t have it any other way!).
